Historic Brownstone in trendy neighborhood with easy access to Manhattan

Sunny Duplex located on Parlor and Garden Floors of historic brownstone (Central Heat & Air Conditioning). Parlor floor entrance opens to large living room, 13 foot ceilings, original moulding, window shutters, hardwood floors. Dining room is a continuum flagged by sweeping arch entry, mahogany built ins, antique furnishings. Large Chef Kitchen with all modern amenities (SubZero fridge, Garland Gas stove/oven, Bosch dishwasher, Marble counters, cherry custom cabinetry, large farm sink - note, NO microwave) leads to large glass double doors which give onto small wrought iron balcony overlooking private garden/deck with BBQ, cedar table/chairs, shaded by trees. Half bath with stylish Italian stone located off kitchen. Second entryway/landing with coat closet and staircase leading to Garden Floor bedrooms. The staircases have child gates for families with young children. The internal staircase has a 3/4 railing thus not ideal for guests that have ambulatory issues.

Garden Floor:

Master Bedroom with King Bed, tin ceiling, large closets, Cable TV. Master dressing area with his/her mirrored doors/closets. Master Bath furnished with Italian stone, large glass shower and double sinks. Second Full Bath with tiled tub/shower, sink & toilet. Second Bedroom: Queen Bed, double dress closet. Glass double doors giving onto private garden. Third Bedroom: Twin beds with trundle, double closet.

Hallway includes two linen closets and staircase leading to basement laundry area. Entryway to Garden Floor includes two steps from street.

As comfortable and convenient as promised

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful duplex and were very happy with the updated kitchen and baths, and all the room to spread out. Carroll Gardens is a lovely area with so many great restaurants and easy access to the subway.

Great time in Brooklyn

We stayed with 2 families (4 adults and 2 kids) in the appartement for 1 week in June.

The appartement is great, the neighbourhood is very nice and the public transportation to Manhatten by Metro is very good.

Appartement is very clean and very comfortable. You find many restaurants, shops, bars etc in the neighbourhood. It is a great place to stay for visiting New York. The place is very quit and you cannot believe that is is only a few minutes away from Manhatten. Brooklyn Bridge can be reached by foot in 30 minutes. By metro you will be at Times Square in 30 minutes as well and there is no need to change the metro line.

We can only recommend to stay in the appartement.

Beautiful Home, wonderfully furnished with a garden in back.

We love Brooklyn and the community it provides and this location is excellent to explore all it has to offer. The owner is gracious and accommodating and that always makes a stay in a home a wonderful experience.

After four years of only receiving 5 Star reviews I have learned that the Duplex in the end was a hardship for your husband after his two surgeries. I will include in the descriptive from hereon that the Duplex is not suitable for those recovering from knee/hip surgeries. Brownstones are tricky! I had thought that the email descriptives sufficiently outlined the makeup of the Duplex.and I am sorry if that was not clearly understood. I hope that you received the papers left behind by mail and we hope that you enjoyed your visit with your son. Best regards, Marion

A great home-from-home in a lovely and convenient neighbourhood

This is the second time we have stayed here. It makes a perfect base for us while in New York visiting family and friends. The accommodation is ideal for a young family and the location is superb. Much more comfortable than a hotel, especially for an extended stay. A real find!

Very nicely remodeled and maintained flat in a charming neighborhood

While we arrived on time but late in the evening (after 9pm) we were greeted with a very brief showing of the property and fresh flowers decorating the tables. Our first experience with the neighborhood was very positive, as the vegans in our party surfed and found a nearby place (Bar Bruno) which was perfect for our arrival dinner. Open late, a warm evening so we could sit outside, really tasty Mezcal margaritas and both vegan and meat dishes! After dinner we found that the beds were totally clean and comfortable, and the next morning found bagels nearby to go with the coffee machine and tea kettle output. Before we had arrived we were concerned about nearby food stores and shops, but found they were nearby and every type; a great wine shop (Scottos Wine Cellar), several bakeries (Monteleones warranted several visits), a fantastic sandwich shop (Court Street Grocers) and lots more. Kids, dogs, strollers, it was a really comfortable neighborhood. And when we were 'home' it was a very comfortable apartment. We would definitely stay again if we returned to Brooklyn.

A wonderful, clean, and very homey apartment on a beautiful street, central to everything we needed!

Marion's apartment was better even than the pictures led us to expect. She herself met us at the top of the steps and let us in and gave us a tour, including instructions and local restaurant recommendations. Our week in Carroll Gardens couldn't have gone better with the possible exception of the heat and humidity-- but even that inconvenience was allayed each day by the welcome blast of AC when we'd return to our apartment! The location was perfect-- plenty of cafes, bars, markets and restaurants within walking distance. Add to that the nearby subway stops to get into Manhattan, making it the perfect place to stay.
