Beautiful home helpful owner and house manager

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Nube Nueve! The house fit our needs comfortably. We had 13 people in our party. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchenware, rooms were spacious and plenty of towels! The view from the back porch was spectacular and we spent our mornings and evening out there. The owner is very helpful and available - answered our questions promptly and gave us lots of great advise that was really helpful during our stay. The house manager was sweet and helpful as well. She even went to the store a couple of times for us when we needed a grocery item for dinner that the housekeeper cooked for us. After a long day of activities it was a wonderful home to come home to and have a cooked meal ready for us!

Weather in Dec/Jan was great. Not too hot and not cold or rainy. A bit windy in the mountains but the wind was very pleasant - no dirt or dust just warm gusts.

Playa Hermosa was a great place to stay, family oriented and lots of restaurants. La Casita Del Marisco was AMAZING! Huge portions and delicious and something you won't find often in Costa Rica - fast! (BTW DO NOT go to Roberto's).

The recommended tour company, Tico Tours, went above and beyond. I would NEVER use anyone else. Our 3 tours were spectacular (Miravalles, Extreme Rating Adventure & Bourinquen Extreme Adventure). And when the car rental (Budget) did not have a car for us on our arrival Tico Tours arranged a bus at the last minute to take us to dinner and the grocery store - Thanks Josh!

Loved Costa Rica, loved our house and loved everyone who went out of their way to make our vacation spectacular!

Great home for families and nice location

  • 4 of 5

Two families spent 11 days at this home. It fit 4 adults and 5 kids in the main house perfectly and we had the apartment for our two baby-sitters. The house had everything we needed. The pool was just the right size and we had a great view. Alejandra was great to have around. She made some amazing chicken and rice and plantains! Take the time to chat with her, she's a pretty neat lady.

We rented two cars so we could venture out to other beaches, but the majority of our time was spent at Playa Hermosa. We would set up camp at Aqua Sport. We were able to use their beach chairs and had access to food & drinks, always served with a smile.

We also checked out Abbocato, El Mangroove & catering by Rocio's Kitchen. All three are a must.

The only downside was not having a full size oven in the kitchen and the water heater did not work in the upstairs master bath which was a small inconvenience for those staying in that room.

I would highly recommend this home to others and will hopefully visit again someday.

El paraíso en el trópico!

  • 5 of 5

Great Location, Beautiful View, Pool Sunset Views Every Night!

  • 5 of 5

We just enjoyed a great stay at Nube Nueve Villa. It is in a great location in an area known for beaches, outdoor activities, and lots of tourists. The great thing is that it is still very quiet and not busy at all. It is about 10 minutes to Coco. It is less than a 90 minute drive of many wonderful adventure parks at Rincon de la Vieja and the Palo Verde boat tours. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the beach, and many local restaurants- which reservations are almost always easy to get, and VERY beneficial, FYI. It is up a pretty short, steep hill from the areas below. Two minutes of the walk back from the beach would be challenging uphill. We just drove most of the time because it was easy to park in town and the 70 year olds with us.

The house itself is very clean, spacious and well maintained by the housekeeper. We loved Alejandra and her advice, cooking, and cleaning up after us. This isn't like yachting service, it is just comfortable and friendly. It was simple to plan with her for meals and they were all excellent, real, local food. The bedrooms are spacious, plenty of towels, pillows; also moderate wifi and one TV- for the convenience of those that can't fully unplug. The view of sunset each night is amazing from the balcony, but the downside is that the hot sun has been beating on the house all day- and it is pretty darn hot! Cool drinks and a dip in the pool are mandatory during the day. One note on the pool, as beautiful as it is, it is need of extensive tile repair and cleaning to bring the it up to par for the OCD travelers like myself. The local water is very hard with minerals and would be very difficult to keep up on, I can see. The solar heating of the jacuzzi works quite well.

I will say that the owner and housekeeper will address any issues you bring up immediately and they are totally on top of the game. My concerns about the thermostat being set too high were addressed right away.

This is a great house to really relax, unwind and just enjoy the area. We had one visit from a howler monkey walking past us in the pool, the songs of the birds, and the beautiful surroundings.

Cloud Nine Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 9 spent 10 days at this beautiful home celebrating the holidays and a family birthday. We rented the house and the one-bedroom apartment. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures here. Our group ranged in age from 23 - 68. It truly has everything you will need to enjoy a spectacular holiday in Costa Rica-- right down to fluffy beach towels. We never made it to Roberto's for the famous sunset drinks because the view of the bay from the house deck was so magnificent. But Alejandra, our housekeeper really makes this special - she came everyday, sat down with me when we arrived and we make menus for the meals we wanted to eat "in," and a shopping list. She did laundry and prepared the most delicious meals!! She shopped for any food items we wanted, whether it was fresh papaya, or fresh seafood. She even recommended great local restaurants when we wanted to eat out. The house is in a gated community just steps from the beach. We did not rent a car but used Tico Tours for several outings to Rincon Volcano and El Viejo jungle river tour. Everyone at the property management company was so friendly and helpful. They even arranged all of our airport transfers. We can't wait to return and I can't recommend this home highly enough. Fantastic. One tip - if you have someone with disabilities (elderly or difficulty walking) the house sits at the top of a steep drive, you might want to rent a car or use the option of renting a golf cart. We all enjoyed the walk, but it could be hard for some folks.

About Jay Gohlmann

We are a family with four small children living in downtown Boston.

Jay Gohlmann purchased this villa in 2007

Why Jay Gohlmann chose Playa Hermosa

Costa Rica is the ideal family vacation. The weather is ALWAYS tropical. Lots of sunshine. Too many activities to count.

What makes this villa unique

Costa Rica is not just a beach vacation. Activities off the beach are just as popular: horseback riding, ziplines, hot springs, rain forest, white water rafting, river cruise, golf, etc.
