About Jamie Wiles

We are both Northern Virginia natives currently living in Leesburg. We have 3 kids ages 11, 9, and 7 and two dogs- a Chocolate lab and a Chihuahua (quite the odd couple). If you are curious about the name Hattie's Hideaway was the name of the home when we purchased, and it has grown on us a bit so we are keeping it around. But we have also added Hojabi Casa, a play on words using the word Casa (house) made up from the first two letters in our names Ho(lly), Ja(mie), Bi(lly), Ca(mi), Sa(m).

Jamie Wiles purchased this house in 2011

Why Jamie Wiles chose Corolla

We began traveling to this area for vacations around the time that we began having kids, we were looking for a great location to own a home where we could make lifelong memories for all of our family members. After a couple of trips we knew this was the area where we wanted to be. And once we walked into this house we knew it was the one.

What makes this house unique

As soon as we turned into the driveway the first time, just the way that the home sits back on the lot with the gorgeous & private pool in front grabbed our interest. The charm of the cedar shake siding, the great floor plan with all of the Master Suites and interior upgrades & the wonderful wide open beaches made this one a no brainer! Every time i arrive at Hojabi Casa, no matter what time of day or night, the first thing i do when i get upstairs is walk out on the deck and listen to the Ocean!

Car: recommended

The main Corolla attraction is the oceanfront—miles and miles of beaches. You’ll find plenty of other things to do here including lots of shops and restaurants, fishing adventures and other water sports. From Hattie's Hideaway you are roughly 1.5 miles to the Tim Buck II & Food Lion Shopping centers, and roughly 3 miles to the Corolla Village amenities.

The Whalehead Club and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse are the two major Corolla attractions for visitors in the area. Everyone loves climbing the lighthouse, and people return year after year to see the unique architecture at the historic club. The newest Corolla attraction at Currituck Heritage Park is the Center for Wildlife Education.

Just north of the lighthouse is old Corolla village. Here you’ll find old homes, quaint shops and friendly folk in an atmosphere that is very different from the rest of the beach.

Just when you think you’re getting somewhere, the paved road ends abruptly at the beach. You can keep going, however, driving on the beach into what the locals call the “four-wheel drive area,” where you are likely to see wild horses! About 10 miles up the beach, there’s a gate blocking you from entering the state of Virginia. This is the ending point of Currituck’s Outer Banks. You have to turn around and go back the way you came.

Wonderful Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Great location! There were 14 of us from ages 4-73 and we all had a great time! The pool size was great and we used a couple of the bikes as well as brought some of our own. We rode bikes 2.5 miles north to the Currituck Lighthouse and we rode 1 mile south to the Food Lion plaza where there were lots of shops and places to grab lunch. Overall plenty to do for all ages and the 4 master baths were exactly what we were looking for! The sunsets from the balcony towards the sound were beautiful! There were several light bulbs out on arrival and a minor repair needed in a bathroom, but Sandbar came right out when called. We all had a very enjoyable week and great weather at Hattie's Hideaway! Thanks for providing this great beach house!

Great house near the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a long weekend to go to a friend's wedding and we had a great time! There was plenty of space with a great wrap around porch and nice pool area with a hot tub and grill! Close to a nice part of the beach too that wasn't too crowded.

We had an amazing time. The house was just what we needed. There was entertainment for the kids, while the adults could be upstairs and have adult time with some quiet! There were not complaints from anyone! We would book again in the future!

It was nice but not our best beach house.

  • 3 of 5

Large property with six sleeping areas.

Pros- great location. Easy 5 min walk to beach.

Several bikes in storage shed which we used and enjoyed.

Well stocked kitchen.

Great upgraded basement which teens enjoyed. However, TV situation wasn't good. No cables connected.

Cons- check-in was a disaster. Owner forgot to send information causing unnecessary stress. It was resolved once we had voice to voice contact.

Pool area had not been cleaned from last guests.

Linen package is expensive. Towels are poor quality.

Pool furniture in poor condition.

Spacious House with Lots to Do

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. There were 8 adults and two children and we were unfortunately stuck inside most of our visit due to the tropical storm. TV's in each room, WiFi, gaming downstairs and enough room for us to spread out while we waited out the storm but also good for when we had our meals and activities together! Beach was a little far for us with little ones, but there is also a public parking lot right at the beach entrance. Owner was also very easy to work with. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend. We'll be returning!

- The house definitely feels like it was built from the ground-up for multi-family vacations. The layout and "feel" is spot-on.

- Pool was immaculate and we spent MANY hours in it. I was somewhat worried about it being in the front yard with privacy issues - absolute non-issue.

- The decks are everywhere, and they're fantastic. LOADS of places to get away from noise, and they're all gated. This was fantastic for my young kids, who we could let run around without having to worry about doors or stairs.

- Deck access to almost all of the bedrooms.

- Bathrooms were spacious, good water pressure.

- Barely any traffic at the location - quiet area!

- Lots of extras: all of the books, beach toys, movies, games that are around were great to have at our fingertips. Plenty of stuff to use in the kitchen. You could basically go to this place with just food and likely have enough to do for the week.

- Air conditioning worked like a champ, which is important.

- Solid location. About a five minute walk to the beach. Groceries are a five minute drive away.

- House was immaculate when we arrived.

- TV situation was a little iffy. A few of the TVs in the house couldn't get color TV, including the media area in the basement. Could be a factor if you're counting on the TVs for occasional entertainment.

- The linens were the only obvious disappointment we had. We literally got two towels, a hand towel, and some washcloths for one of the bedrooms with a king-sized bed. My wife uses a towel for her hair, so right out of the gate we didn't have enough bath towels. No bathmat, either. This obviously isn't a big deal, but given how well-outfitted the rest of the house is, it seemed strangely stingy. Bring some extra towels with you or skip the linen service. Not remotely worth deducting a star, though.

- Nothing!

Overall, we had a fantastic time. This was the first time my wife or I had traveled to the Outer Banks, but we both agreed that it would be a no-brainer to return to this house when we eventually come back.
