About John and Kathy Eaton

Hi, we are John and Kathy Eaton from Atlanta, Georgia, where we breed and race thoroughbreds and enjoy spending time playing golf and hanging with our beloved labs. We love all of our 4 legged children, both horses and dogs and hope you enjoy the photographs and pictures of our horses during your stay!

We fell in love with Montana after just a few visits and so enjoyed the peacefulness and the slow pace of life Whitefish offers that we decided to buy a home here. We are so happy to have finally purchased our dream home and are delighted and excited to share it with you!

John is still busy working as a periodontist in Georgia and is excited to resume playing hockey and skiing and Kathy has recently retired from her occupation as an IBM executive. She loves to ride horses, play golf and watch the deer from the large windows in the house.

Please enjoy our new home and share with us the beauty, comfort and delights it offers!

Why John and Kathy Eaton chose Whitefish Lake Area

The location of this property is ideal! It is secluded on 10 acres with access to public land direct from the back door yet it is a short 4 miles into the town of Whitefish, 30 minutes to the ski lifts and 20 miles from the park.

You can enjoy breakfast, listening to the silence and watching deer graze in the yard and then jump in the car and be having a glass of wine, listening to a band on Casey's rooftop bar in 15 minutes.

It doesn't get better than this!

What makes this house unique

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!

What a beautiful and comfortable place! Exceeded our expectations, which I can assure you were quite lofty. Could not have asked for a better experience. One hint: use "386 Burly Bear Trail, Whitefish, Montana" in your GPS. This will avoid confusing the GPS.

We traveled from Southern California to visit Glacier National Park and were very excited when we came upon this VRBO. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our evenings and mornings watching the deer come by to visit. The owners had placed two salt licks out in the yard behind tree stumps so that was a nice attraction for the deer. Twice we saw a doe and her fawn! The house was very large and comfortable. We went zip lining one day at the Whitefish Mountain Resort and it was wonderful! We would highly recommend this VRBO.

Charming cabin minutes from Whitefish and Glacier NP

  • 5 of 5

The Eaton's cabin was a perfect base camp for our week of exploring Glacier National Park. Most of us are a little apprehensive when renting a vacation home where we've never stayed, but we quickly discovered that we made a great choice when we picked this house! Not only was it aesthetically pleasing both inside and out, but very clean and comfortable. An unexpected bonus was the well-stocked pantry and basket of extras containing those small items (toothbrush!) you may have forgotten to pack for the trip. The location was ideal. The cabin was literally a straight shot from the airport, and minutes away from the shops and restaurants in Whitefish (be sure to try the Buffalo Cafe - their breakfast, lunch and dinner were all great). Montana had record high temperatures during our stay, but we still found occasion to relax in the backyard at night and roast smores over a campfire. We highly recommend this cabin and hope to stay there again on our next trip to Glacier Country. Thank you John and Kathy!

So thankful for the time we spent here! The moment we walked in, there was a warm welcome note from the owners with a bottle of wine waiting for us. It was raining for the first few days, but we found a 1000 piece puzzle to set up and settled in for some rest, relaxation, Direct TV tennis, and enjoy the sound of the rain. Due to the rain, we checked out White Fish which we found charming shops, antique stores and yummy restaurant options. We spent the next day in Columbia Springs just a few more miles away. We got a break in the weather on the 3rd day and headed to Glacier National park and we were awestruck by the beauty of the mountains, lake, wildlife and non-stop, breathtaking scenery. We also had a person with us that had to leave early and we were able to take him to nearby Kalispell airport - caught an affordable plane back home.

The amenities were lush, the master bedroom and bath were beautiful with plush linen and toiletries. The bedrooms on the main floor were great, a double bed in one and a bunk bed in the next. The bathroom was cool with a faux rock-bottom sink and rustic shelving. The great room was warm and cozy with expensive and cozy throw rugs. The kitchen had plenty of counter space, the kitchen table was a great space to sit and read a book and have breakfast and dinner together. We also used the camp-side, but had difficulty getting a strong fire going (wet wood). Also loved the family of deer that were there every morning and night. The cabinets were stocked with spices, dry goods, paper towels, coffee filters, pots & pans, and even some condiments in the fridge! We also loved pictures of the owners and their horses - made us feel like they were with us. We felt like they trusted us with their property. The downstairs could sleep another 2 people on the trundle bed and kids on the floor. AMAZING SIZE! A generous box of supplies in case you forgot something.

A few of the buttons on the oven timer, and the microwave weren't working but we reported that to the property manager, Rebecca who was very helpful. The kitchen needs more lighting. The wi-fi signal very weak, either need more robust signal or advertise availability as "iffy". Need hand-drawn map that guides guest to the back road to find property. I'd keep dry firewood in the outbuilding and inside by the fireplace for the rainy season. Have a nice handbook nearby listing emergecy contact info., "HOW TO" instructions for fire, trash, linen, contacts. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Owner's Response: Laurie D, Thank you for the kind review of our property. I am glad you enjoyed our home. I apologize for the less than ideal signal for the WiFi. I have not been at the property since it was installed in early May. I appreciate your observations regarding the oven and microwave and will certainly make the needed corrections ASAP. Our goal is for our guests to enjoy our home as much as we do. We regard everyone who stays in our home as family.

Quiet Retreat Close to Glacier and Whitefish

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from here in early August 2015. We stayed at this lovely home for a week while we enjoyed our first trip to Montana, spending most days at Glacier National Park. We loved how quiet and secluded this property was while being so close to restaurants, grocery stores and shops. It was a peaceful location at the end of a gravel road surrounded by grass and trees. It's about a 35 minute drive to Glacier's nearest entry point and about 15 minutes by car to Whitefish where we found several good restaurants for dinner. The open design is spacious with tall ceilings and plenty of windows allowing natural light to pour in. Both owners were prompt, professional and friendly in all communications. We met Becky at the house on our last day as we were leaving. She was very sweet and cared sincerely about making sure our stay was enjoyable. I'm so glad we were able to meet her before leaving. Our deposit was returned promptly and she warmly invited us back. We would absolutely stay here again!
