About John Wineland
I am an avid VRBO user and now landlord. I now live in Santa Monica and love LA.
John Wineland purchased this House in 2007
Why John Wineland chose Mid City
This is such a great space due to the proximity to everything cool in LA and the peaceful quiet. The neighborhood is filled with great restaurants and haunts and is close to the Grove and Museums.
Perfect west coast retreat
Our stay here was exactly what we needed for business and relaxation! We felt right at home the minute we set foot through the door. Clean, quiet, nestled at the end of a small street, you almost felt as if you were the only house for miles. There is an elementary school on the other side of where the street ends, but the children's voices are in a distance so it's very charming. John and Lindsay are fabulous hosts. Lindsay also has a great sense of humor, thank you Lindsay for your help with directions! We felt so welcomed and comfortable. Thank you both for being so gracious.
This property fit our needs perfectly and is well located for access to many things that LA offers.
The property is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood on beautiful grounds that provides good privacy. Close to good shopping and restaurants.
It was older but quaint, and the neighborhood was quiet and friendly
We had a nice stay, the house is a little warmer than we are use to but, we had a great time.
An Oasis in LA
My husband and I spent eleven happy weeks in this property to escape the Boston winter and help out with a new grandchild. It suited us. Situated at the end of a dead end street, it is in a quiet mid city neighborhood. An elementary school stands next door and weekdays are punctuated by the sounds of schoolchildren at play. Ample parking is available nearby. The private, fenced in yard served us well. We relaxed on the porch swing or hammock whenever we got the chance. Our little Pomeranian and grandchildren delighted in that space, full of flowers and humming birds.
The furnishings are not new, but worked for us. The living room boasts an enormous flat screen tv. The dining table accommodates eight. Both beds are very comfortable, but the second bedroom has a curtain instead of a door into the bathroom. Water pressure in the showers is great and there's ample hot water. The kitchen could use more cookware and small appliances, but we were able to make dinner for 5-8 people nearly every night. A decent Von's supermarket is .7 of a mile away. A short walk down the street brings you to a delicious Mexican hole in the wall, a good nail salon, a gas station, and an excellent dry cleaner.
We rent through VRBO all around the country visiting our five grown children and their families. Our sojourn here was enjoyable.
The property was as listed on the website; clean and well maintained
The house was on a quiet street, However, there was a school at the end of the block. Good news was that there was not through traffic on the block; and the students only took recess once a day (it appeared)
Quiet area with a swing on the front porch and made the evenings nice, just cool enough to enjoy a nice beverage and have conversation. We took Uber to many of the places we went to and they always found the house. Additionally, a walk to a main boulevard for several nice restaurants (Vegan, Soul, Hispanic, American) took us about 15 minutes, which helped to increase our appetites and also helped as we walked back to the house after eating. Everything you need is at the house in case you forgot personal items, everything was clean and available if you needed to wash clothes, use internet and the cable TV.
Brian and Mom
Perfect for post-surgery convalesence!
My sister and I stayed at this cottage for 2 weeks following ankle surgery at the nearby Cedars-Sinai facility. It was just what we needed for the first two weeks until the doctor gave me permission to return home. The house is fully equipped with all that you need for a stay of that length. While the house is old, it's in reasonably good shape. There is plenty of playful noise from the adjacent school yard during the week days, but during the times that matter it is very quiet and feels very safe. There was a bit of noise in the mornings from the guests in the adjacent studio overtop of the garage relaxing on their patio right next to one of the bedroom windows, but that can be handled by making sure they are aware there are also guests in the house. Lindsay was always responsive to our requests and even was able to get the locksmith to come next day when we experienced a problem with the front door lock. A couple of problems that are likely to be fixed soon are the dryer that actually burned some of our clothes (so we resorted to line drying which normally works very well in dry SoCal) and the running toilet that others have mentioned. It's not a very interesting neighborhood as far as walking goes, but it's very easy to access everything you need by car and free parking is always available right out front.
