About Brian Fletcher
Robert hails from the hill country of TX ... New Braunfels, TX to be exact whereas Brian was born and raised in Palos Heights, IL, south of Chicago. We have been together for 16 years, married and have three children ages 6.7 and 10 (the picture here is a bit old :)). The children keep us VERY busy with school, activities and the general drama that three little ones create everyday. However, we wouldn't change a thing; its perfect level of crazy. We currently live in Oak Park, IL with our two dogs, Stella and Sam, cat Tucker and one fish, Hawk.
Brian Fletcher purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Brian Fletcher chose Saugatuck
We have traveled to Saugatuck every year both before and after having children. It was the perfect getaway for a relaxing week and, now with three kids, has so much to do for families. Our children love the beach, dune ride, duck boat and the numerous ice cream shops. In the winter, sledding on the dunes is a huge hit as well as the nearby ski resorts (not huge but great for a day trip). We began coming up more often every year as there was activities in all four seasons. We always rented homes so the kids could run around and we could make some meals at home. But renting every time we came up was getting expensive and since the town has become a home away from home it made sense to buy a place here.
What makes this Cabin unique
As soon as we walked into this home, we knew it was perfect for us. It has the perfect vacation home look and feel making it seem we are far further from Chicago than the 2 hours it takes us to get there. We loved the group of homes so they kids can walk/explore and we don't have to worry about cars. The Association pool is perfect for cooler/windy days at the beach or a swim after the beach. Jumping off the pier and swimming/playing on rafts in the lake is also great. We also loved the ability to ride bikes, off road, into town. Unique to the property versus all the other homes in the association is the large front yard and private back yard.

Winter Wonderland Weekend!
Our group had a wonderful weekend in winter wonderland! The cabin was clean, roomy and yet very cozy. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable. The loft space was a perfect play area for the kids. We enjoyed long nights by the fireplace. There was a sled hill in the area, hiking at the state park and good coffee in town. We would definitely come back.
Very nice cabin. Great getaway
This was our first visit to the Saugutuck area. The cabin is in a great location. Easy to get to and close enough to everything we wanted to do. Brian was very responsive and helpful with information on the area. The list of local restaurants that they provided was much appreciated and we hit several of them. Really enjoyed spending a few days in Saugatuck, Douglas and Holland. Would definitely like to get back here some time in the future.
Terrific cabin for our Thanksgiving family gathering!
The cabin was clean, well appointed, and perfect for the five of us. We had a great weekend by the fire place!
The house was perfect!!!!
There was a group of 6 of us, and we had a great time in the cabin! They had all the needs for a great weekend away w/ Friends!!! We will look to staying here again in the future.
Awesome cozy cottage
Cottage was awesome!! Very comfortable. Decorated well. Well stocked. Beds are very comfortable. Pillows are nice. I would love to Come back and stay here again.
Lovely property in autumn.
We enjoyed our stay at Brian's Cabin Retreat. The property was as described, with lovely furniture and completely equipped kitchen. We enjoyed a fire, cook meals together and gather around the large dining table to eat and play games. We had a camp fire and songfest in the back yard putting to use the hot dog forks provided. It's a beautiful walk to the small lake. Short drive to Saugatuck and Douglas and to Lake Michigan beaches.
An important note about the attractive log bunk beds: there were no ladders to use to climb to the top bunks in one of the downstairs bedrooms. Since we are 'older' adults, the bunk beds were problematic to access requiring a hoist up to the top using the logs themselves as steps...not easy to accomplish. So, if all bed space is needed we can attest to the comfort level of the sofa in the living room and the upstairs sofa bed for sleeping space for others who are not agile enough to climb to the top bunks.
All in all, we enjoyed our reunion with friends in Brian's comfortable and attractive cabin.
The cabin is part of the charming and popular Kingfisher Cove lakefront cottage community. The home shares 200 feet of pristine Goshorn Lake frontage with an pier and easy in/out ladder for swimming and non-motorized boats. 17 acres of woods, a private association heated pool, boardwalks, nature trails and Lake Michigan breezes.
