A River Runs Through It -- Jacuzzi (seasonal) & 20' TIPI overlooking the river

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,900 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Three acres with beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the river, mountain views.

From the moment you enter, you see and feel the vibrance of the Uncompahgre River and the majesty of the 14 thousand foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains.

The house has an open floor plan allowing for great entertaining, with lots of natural light. Our home was completely remodeled two years ago. Attention to detail is apparent: the aspen tongue and groove ceiling, luxurious carpet, tile, fully equipped gourmet kitchen (including spices), travertine bathrooms with fabulous vanities and high end fixtures. There are four comfy recliners and two fireplaces. The upper, covered, wrap around Trex deck overlooks the river and is a peaceful place to relax. When you are on the lower, covered deck, off the master bedroom, you are 'at one' with the river. The grassy areas have multiple creeks that flow to the river. Paradise!

About Linda and Tom Tramel

We are a happily, retired couple and have been married for 32 years. A River Runs Through It has been a part of our lives since 1979.

Linda grew up in New York (Flushing, Long Island) and Tom is from Tennessee (Smithville, near Nashville).

Tom was a Sales Supervisor for Coors Beer, in Tustin, CA and has also managed a country band in Nashville, Tennessee.

Linda is a professor Emeritus from Phoenix College. She directed the Child and Family Studies Program and taught Marriage and Family Life and Child Development.

Together we have four grown children and 4 granddaughters.

Our guests are the most important reason we are here. Our primary goal is your utmost satisfaction. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to enhance your vacation experience.

Linda and Tom Tramel purchased this house in 1992

Why Linda and Tom Tramel chose Ridgway

Our property was passed down from one generation to the next. We think it is the most special property in Ouray County and have been told that by many friends, family and visitors.

What makes this house unique

Being ON THE RIVER with MOUNTAIN VIEWS, makes for a dramatic setting. And what a feeling to fish from your backyard!

Our house sets up perfectly for two couples; ample private space and together space.

Ridgway is now home to RAT (Ridgway Area Trails), a developing new Mountain Bike Trail system, ACCESSIBLE FROM OUR HOME!

Amazing Spot!!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough great things about the house, "A River Runs Through it" !! The property on the river was amazing with a beautiful river running through it with a fantastic 180-degree view of the San Juan Mountain snow-peaked mountain range. Linda and Tom were super nice and very welcoming. The house was nicer than a 5-star hotel in that everything in the kitchen and the bathrooms were all well-equipped and well-stocked for whatever we needed. We also enjoyed their beautiful home with beautiful art and decorations. They have great taste! We really love the area and I am sure we will be back, if Linda and Tom will have us again. It was truly one of the best vacations we've had and we have travelled all over the US, Europe, and Asia. I believe it had a lot to do with the accommodations the house offered (comfortable and beautiful atmosphere) and the beautiful location of the house. We were able to walk to the Ridgeway Park and there were many delicious restaurants and beautiful hikes all nearby to enjoy. Thank you!, Linda and Tom!!

Nice house and Awesome Area

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time during our stay at this house. The house it set up very well and worked perfectly for a base camp for our vacation. Owners were extremely helpful with tips on the area. We did numerous day trips and found Ouray to be our favorite. We could have easily spent another week here as we could not get to all the wonderful activities available in the area. The only surprise to me was the amount of traffic on the main road and the fact that sitting on the decks you really heard a lot of road noise.

Fantastic Experience!

  • 5 of 5

This property is exactly as pictured, but so very stunning in person. Comfortable furniture, beds, modern bathrooms and everything you'd need in the kitchen. If we had been traveling without children I think we'd have sat outside and listened to the river the whole time! But we had young ones and loved the fact that the deck was gated and there were no concerns about someone escaping to the river. That is much appreciated! This property would have been 5 star even if it had been deep in the woods. The icing on the cake was the grand location. Absolutely gorgeous. I recommend continuing up the road past the house for a beautiful drive right outside your door. Highlights for us this stay besides the house: Box Canyon Falls in Ouray, Million Dollar Highway, the free gondola in Telluride and the Durango Silverton Railroad was fantastic! The kids loved the Railroad Museum and swim beach right here in Ridgway. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic family vacation home that absolutely exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Cannot say enough great things about this home! We have been bringing our family to this part of Colorado for years. This has been our absolute favorite trip. Linda & Tom were terrific hosts that greeted us upon arrival and were extremely responsive when we had questions during our stay. Their hospitality was second to none! The home was beautiful, open, and had great mountain & river views with wonderful outdoor space. The location is perfect for visiting Ridgway, Ouray, Montrose, Silverton & Telluride. During our stay, we jeeped, hiked, fished, kayaked, grilled out and more. The sound of the rushing river was there to lull you to sleep & pleasantly greet you in the morning. This was simply a magical place!

Sweet Piece of Property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay at Tom & Linda's! The house is located directly on the Uncompahgre River, so the master bedroom can hear the river. Our teenage boys even spent a night in the teepee, also listening to the river as they fell off to sleep. we liked being just outside of Ridgway, with easy access to town and only a scenic hour drive from Telluride. We ate several meals on the deck with both mountain and river views. Everyday, we took advantage of the paved trail ( just steps from the front door), going on walks or runs either toward the lake or toward town. There wasn't a thing we needed that wasn't readily available in the kitchen and house. Tom and Linda were welcoming and friendly and available to field questions. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to the area!!
