The house is located in the village of Lubières, accessible from the rue des Fontaines. The average altitude of the village is 420 metres. Named "Le Leopaul", the house is over a hundred years old and can accommodate a maximum of 5 people. It faces due south and has a grassed courtyard of around 150 m², which is totally enclosed and completely independent, with the possibility of parking a vehicle. The grassed courtyard provides a covered area for outdoor meals, with a garden table and chairs and a barbecue. This stone-built house has 3 levels.
The ground floor comprises an entrance hall, a large, well-equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer, gas and electric hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, crockery and kitchen utensils and a living room with TV socket. On the 1st floor there are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and one with a single bed.
Also on the 1st floor is the bathroom (washbasin, bathroom cabinet and shower). The 2nd floor is not accessible to tenants.

A horse-riding centre about 3 km away in Oulliandre offers rides on horseback and pony rides for young and old alike, and a very good restaurant called "La Petite Ecole" offering top-quality menus is just 3 km from the house.
Lubières, a small village in the Haute-Loire, is situated on the Limagne plain (8 km from Brioude), halfway between Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of Auvergne, and Le Puy en Velay, the prefecture of the Haute-Loire, famous for its lentils and verbena. The village of Lubières has around a hundred inhabitants and is located 3.5 km from the Arvant SNCF railway station and around 5 km from the A75 motorway.
The River Allier is less than 2 kilometres away, making it ideal for fishing and swimming. Lovely country walks on dirt tracks. Mushrooms can be picked in the woods near the village. The Maison du Saumon (Salmon House) in Brioude explains the life and reproduction of these mysterious fish from the Atlantic Ocean. Lovers of boating on the River Allier can go canoeing down the river.
The animal park at Ardes sur Couze is a great place to spend a day, with picnics or meals on site, surrounded by a wide variety of local and other animals - it really is a zoo in the middle of nature. A few kilometres away at Bayard, the Musée de la Mine (Mining Museum) tells the story of the life of miners and the hard work they did in the many mines in the Basin. Most of the neighbouring villages organise local festivals and flea markets from spring to autumn, which are always popular with the locals. Night markets are held in July and August. For example, you'll love strolling through the streets of Blesles, a village classified as "most beautiful village", which is very popular with tourists and offers entertainment throughout the summer season.
A little further towards Clermont-Ferrand, Vulcania, a cultural site built in the centre of the Chaîne des Puys, will provide you with all the answers to your questions about volcanoes in general and the Chaîne des Volcans d'Auvergne in particular. Walks in the mountains will reveal a large number of lakes in the craters of volcanoes that are now extinct or perhaps dormant.
Winter resorts such as Le Lioran in the Cantal or Super Besse and Le Mont Dore, around 60 km away, are great places to enjoy snow sports, and Lubières has a regular hawker and baker.
In Vergongheon (approx. 2 km) you'll find bakeries, a butcher's, a grocer's, a hairdresser, a tobacconist's, newspapers, bars and restaurants, as well as health services including a doctor, a chemist, a nurse and a physiotherapist.
