Mardi Gras Cottage, 4 mi to French Quarter

Space 630 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath

Clean, clean, clean. We don't just wash the bedding here at the Mardi Gras cottage, we sanitize it. Along with a water proof liner on the mattress that is sanitized after every guest. If you are a person that is concerned about clean bedding, this is the property for you! This is a one bedroom, one bath cottage with all amenities. There is NO carpet in the cottage, only beautiful porcelain tile and area rugs. Owner was born in this almost world famous neighborhood and can direct you to all the local watering holes and restaurants that New Orleans is famous for. We are off the beaten path, and can steer you away from the tourist traps. The battle field of New Orleans is one mile from this property. See where General Andrew Jackson and the pirate Jean Lafitte teamed up and defeated the English and liberated the United States of America.

Perfect place for us and our little dog

  • 4 of 5

We chose this place because it looked quiet and had a yard for our little dog, who is not a great traveler. It exceeded our expectations. It was a true respite from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans.

My only suggestion would be add some larger coffee cups and bowls. And maybe hanging hooks or bars in the bathroom.

Exactly As Advertised

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience staying in a VRBO. We found this cottage exactly as advertised, reservation request handled expeditiously, and thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay. It was a very easy drive into and out of New Orleans each day where we parked at the Basin Street Visitor Center (just $5 per day) and bought a three-day tour bus pass ($49 per person) which got us around the rest of the city and attractions we wanted to see. The VRBO hosts had lots of good tourist information and brochures in the rental. We were on an extended trip that included these four days, so having an in-rental washer and dryer was a godsend. Having a full kitchen with a large frig allowed us to take some of the big lunches we couldn't manage to finish home and make them our dinner several nights. The VRBO hosts were very gracious and nice to accommodate us after we almost settled in to the wrong unit on arrival. There are three or four VRBO units in this residential complex, so be careful on arrival to be sure you are at the correct unit! Also you can ignore the "Beware of the Dog" sign at the entry gate which threw us off a bit at first. The owners were carefully maintaining the pool even though the weather was a little cool, so I couldn't resist and took several bracing dips in the late afternoon when we returned from our touring. I can't recommend this property more highly, much more homey and a very reasonable price alternative compared to the New Orleans city hotels with their institutional feel, high rates and outrageous nightly parking fees.

wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 nights over St. Patty's Day. It was great. We brought our dog so it was great to be a little bit further away from the constant festivities. We had our own little cottage and were too busy in the Quarter to get to take advantage of the beautiful yard, patio and pool. Everything we needed was provided and the bed was very comfortable. It was charming.

We went for Mardi Gras!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very nice and clean! The overall property is nice and relaxing. Although it was February, we were able to enjoy the patio a few nights and even met our neighbors who were all very friendly. The owners of the property went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. It was so great meeting them! A short Lyft or taxi ride will get you to and from the French quarter. We didn't really venture anywhere else... afterall, it was Mardi Gras!! And that's where all the action was. I will say this, Lyft rates increase during Mardi Gras and any other really BUSY times. This property is also about 25-30 min from airport, FYI. Other than that, two thumbs up for our first NOLA experience!

Clean, comfy, decorated nicely and beautiful backyard and pool.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved it and want to come back and stay here again very soon. The owners are very friendly and we appreciated their hospitality. Loved the back yard for our fur babies and we enjoyed the location-close to downtown yet far enough away for a serene quiet safe stay. Had so much fun in New Orleans and went fishing, fish market-

Bringimg yummy seafood back to MN, shopping, nightlife- frenchmen street, CASINO 😁?, biking, dining- loved charbroiled oysters-thanks for the recommendation!! Thank you again!!! 🌴?⚘🌺?😉?

Relaxing quiet cottage

  • 5 of 5

It’s always nerve racking when you try to find accommodations in a city you have never been. We were so pleased by the property, clean and well lit at night. Michael was friendly and greeted us when we arrived. We used LYFT to get into town. Usually a $14 ride. The cottage was a nice respite to come home from all the fun we had in town. Can not wait to return and will definitely rebook. The cottage was impeccably clean as well. Thanks for the great experience.
