The cabin and property were absolutely beautiful! The cabin was immaculate.

  • 5 of 5

We do not have any suggestions to make the experience better. Everything was as perfect as it could be. The cabin was clean/immaculate, all appliances were top of the line, beds were comfortable, the cabin was beautifully decorated, the views, the wildlife...just spectacular! We were fortunate and saw the momma fox that frequents the area surrounding the cabin. Michael and Mary are both one of a kind - very knowledgeable, friendly, warm people. We cannot wait to go back again and will most definitely rent this same cabin. We highly recommend staying at the Fox Den Lodge during your stay in West Yellowstone. ***** ~Beth and Mark Libertine

The Fox Den Lodge was the perfect place for our family snowmobiling vacation in West Yellowstone. The house had everything we needed for 6 active adults - private bedrooms and baths, sauna!!!!, and a great family room for relaxing after being out in the snow all day. Michael was a wonderful host, very responsive when we had questions, and even clearing the drive for us so we could easily get in and out with snowmobiles and car. We highly recommend the Fox Den, and we look forward to going back in the near future. Thank you Michael!

Absolutely Perfect! A real gem!

  • 5 of 5

This home was truly a fabulous find! It was tastefully decorated, had comfy beds in all 3 bedrooms, was super clean and super quiet. Each bedroom had its own bathroom (an added plus) as well as an additional powder bath off the main hallway. There was also a sauna which was really nice after a long day of snowmobiling! The kitchen was well stocked. The owner lives next door and proved to be a wealth of information about things to do in West Yellowstone area.

Couldn't have been better

Great house in a great place. Seperate heaters and bathrooms for every room and the gas stove in the great room made this a cozy home. WIFI and kitchen were great also. Michael was very accommodating and we had good communication.

Surpassed all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay over the Thanksgiving holiday at the Fox Den. It is a beautiful home with a well-appointed kitchen. It even had a turkey roasting pan and meat thermometer! Each room has its own bath. Our host is so knowledgeable about the region. The house is well-stocked with fabulous books and DVDs about the Park. Michael was also able to recommend some nice hiking trails in the area. For avid Nordic skiers, there is even a waxing bench in the heated garage. Nicer than our set up at home! Post-ski, it was great to come back to the sauna. We would highly recommend a stay and are hoping to book our next trip soon.

About Michael P Keator

Greetings! I moved from Upstate New York in 1980 to Jackson Hole Wyoming. For the next ten years I guided river trips and wilderness pack trips with horses and mules, guided in wilderness hunting camps and backcountry ski trips, and taught Telemark and cross country skiing. In 1987 I worked for the US Forest Service as a backcountry ranger in the Teton Wilderness. In the summer of 1990 I began my career in Yellowstone National Park as a US Park Ranger. I worked all over the park until June of 2012 when I retired to West Yellowstone, Montana. Currently I live in a log house that I built in Lazy Acres in 2005. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, rafting and skiing along with a sincere desire to share the surrounding area with visitors that don't have the opportunity to live here.

Michael P Keator purchased this house in 2014

Why Michael P Keator chose Lazy Acres

This property is unique because I designed it to meet the needs of friends and family vacationing in Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding area. The area will give you all the excitement you can handle, and I wanted a place that you can return to after a long day and totally relax in the comfort and style of Montana.

Even though the summer months have a six night minimum, I will accept rentals that fill in the gap between rentals. You can check in the same day someone is checking out. Call if you are interested.

What makes this house unique

The Fox Den Lodge is not only unique because of the mountain views but the close proximity to Yellowstone National Park and the country setting it sits in. The name comes from the fact that during the summer of 2013 we enjoyed the adventures and follies of a fox and her 5 kits that built their den under the shed next door. We occasionally have moose and deer walk through Lazy Acres during the summer.
