About the property

Affordable and clean rental in paradise located close to the ocean

It is located on the first floor and includes 546 sf of living space that encompasses a living room, a bedroom with a King Cal. bed, a full bath, and exclusive outdoor patio space. There is a twin sized bed that doubles as a couch in the living room for a child or another adult. It has it's own private entrance with ample parking on-site with your caretaker residing on premises for your convenience.

Here you can enjoy an ocean view and breezes from the tropical trade winds. At night you will be serenaded by the sounds of the coqui frogs. The cliffs of Kaloli Point and the ocean are only a brisk 5 minute walk away. You can take in the expansive ocean views, enjoy the pleasant trade winds and watch for whales. Kaloli point is the location of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village of which you can still see evidence of this ancient village to this day.

About Maria Akagi

Counselor and practicing artist. Maria is a para-professional tutor with ESL dept. It was not by design to transform our spare room into a rental, but typical of a teacher, wanted to lend a helping hand improve the quality of life and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I built a guest room for visiting family and friends, but it became a way to provide affordable accommodations for vacationers and sincere desire to make your Hawaiian vacation experience a memorable one.

Maria Akagi purchased this studio in 2010

Why Maria Akagi chose Keaau

Many rental properties are operated by owners living on the mainland, many without in depth knowledge of the lands and people of Hawaii. Because the owner is on property, Your concerns and questions will be addressed immediately with the spirit of aloha.

What makes this studio unique

It's always nice to have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat to after a busy day of taking in new sites. We can talk story and share our traveling experiences. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have; but if you desire total privacy, we can accommodate that as well. Aloha!

Comfortable and Clean

  • 4 of 5

Quiet location with just the sounds of the birds and the waves. Very clean, with a large sitting area and bedroom. While I didn’t use any, there are body boards, snorkeling gear, beach towels, sunscreen, etc. for use. Close to the ocean, lava trees and within easy driving distance of Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Great value for the cost.

Highly recommended – best place to stay in Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

We were surprised when we arrived at John & Maria’s house. It was very clean and cozy. We felt very warm by the welcome sign on the wall. The bed is very big and comfy. John & Mario provided everything we can think of: beach towels, water, sunscreen…, even rice and cooler, which made our stay on the Big Island so easy and enjoyable. John & Maria are awesome hosts. What a pity we only had short conversations with them due to our busy schedule to explore the island. They are very helpful and patient with all the questions we have. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and co-workers. Thank you, John and Maria.

Just awesome

  • 5 of 5

Couldnt think about a better place to stay on the east side of this island.

It is close to Kalapana, Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. The condo is more or less middle in the jungle and really clean. You can hear the sound of the wind blowing through the plants and of course lots of animals, but nothing to be afraid of. The ocean is a just around the corner and beaches are also pretty close.

Maria & John are really nice hosts who can give you tipps for the island. The fridge is filled with some cold drinks already and you can use a lot of equipment for the beach like boards, towels etc etc. The condo is spacious for 2 or 3 people with a really comfortable bed.

The Hawaiian Paradise Park has his own charme, dont miss it and be part of it!

After some day I am missing it already...
