About Susan Wons
I recently purchased this property and am very excited about it. I live in Massachusetts but have been a property owner in Maine for a very long time. My family owned a camp in North Windham which eventually became mine. I spent all of my summers there as a child. About a dozen years ago I sold it. Something has been missing from my life since. So back to Maine I have come. I have always dreamed of owning a waterfront home here. I am recently retired and am looking forward to spending time in my vacation home. I hope you will enjoy it too.
Susan Wons purchased this Cottage in 2013

Beautiful and peaceful setting
We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cottage in early autumn. The cottage is very comfortable and well appointed and we enjoyed the paddle boat and paddle boards while there. It is only steps to the water with a very nice private little beach area. I hope that we have a chance to return for a longer stay next time!
Thank you for your review. The fall season is a world unto it's own. Warm enough to still enjoy water activities, but a whole different atmosphere emerges with the change of seasons. Glad you all enjoyed your time and come back again.
Everything we wished for!
Susan's cottage is simply adorable! When we arrived, everything was spotless and very inviting. We are a family of 5, between the ages of 26 and 60, and everyone found something fun and/or relaxing to do, everyday of our stay. The lake is clean and warm, since it is shallow. If you leave your windows open in the morning, you can wake up to the loons singing. The kitchen is well equipped and fun to cook into, the living room is cozy, the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. My favorite moment was sitting on the dock in the morning, with my mom, coffee in hand. Grocery store is a 10 minutes ride and has everything you need. Susan is a very nice and generous host. We would have stayed another week if we could have! We highly recommend it!
Peaceful, Serene, and Relaxing
I'm not sure just where to begin in writing a review about our stay at Aruba North this past week. Everything was perfect! There is not one detail Susan has overlooked in making sure everything you could possibly need is available to you. Not only is the cottage well equipped, but the furnishings are comfy which can be rare with vacation rentals! The two bedrooms on the second floor offer breathtaking views of Tripp Pond as well as the kitchen and living room on the first floor. Lola, our Golden Retriever, settled in right away! There was even a towel marked for Dogs or Feet. Again, Aruba North leaves you in need of nothing!
There is plenty to do for the indoor and outside person! Lots of books, movies, playing cards, and board games. We spent the majority of our time outside utilizing the SUP's, kayaks, peddleboat, and floats (there is a canoe and a row boat also!). Oh, and not only does Susan supply the recreational watercraft mentioned, but the oars and life vests too - you will find them in the oversized shed along with a washer/dryer, additional refrigerator, and additional bathroom (toilet) which comes in very handy when you are soaking wet from the pond.
There is a campground abutting the property and the campground beach is next to the beach at the cottage (separated by a fence). The campground and the beach was very quiet while we were there. And speaking of quiet, this is a very quiet pond - people fishing, kayaking, boating (mostly pontoon boats), tubing, and paddle boarding. We were grateful jet skis are not allowed.
The warm water lake is just steps away from the cottage, and this had to be our favorite part. My morning ritual, with Lola of course, would be to sit in the Adirondack chair on the dock and take in the early morning silence. We would quietly watch the family of ducks swim by, listen to the loons, and occasionally catch a glimpse of the bald eagle!
Aruba North does not disappoint, and we hope to return next year!
Thank you, Susan, for a wonderful relaxing vacation. And thank you for the delicious coffee cake, we loved it!
Thank you so much for your thorough review. I am very happy that the cottage and lake met all your expectations. It is a great place to kick back and enjoy all that lake life has to offer. Please do come again (Lola can't wait).
Perfect location, perfect vacation
We had such an amazing time and can't wait to be back. Everything we could think of was provided for us. Paddle boat, paddle board, kayaks, row boat, floats, lawn toys...so many extras! All of us (pets included) had such a fun and relaxing time and we can't thank you enough for allowing us into your cottage to enjoy our first family vacation. So many wonderful memories made!! Every morning was picture perfect to wake up to. My 19 month old's first request each morning was to look out of the window to see the lake. :)
We were so excited to catch a glimpse of a magnificent bald eagle one evening too.
I would highly recommend this rental! Susan is amazing and has thought of everything to make your vacation truly wonderful. Thank you, Susan! We look forward to coming back!
The lake is a great place for families to connect, unwind and have an adventure or two. I am happy to supply the amenities, you just have to supply the fun. I hope another family vacation at "Aruba North" will be in your future plans.
Outstanding comfortable and beautiful
This is our third stay here and we are already looking forward to next years visit! Everything you need is provided just bring your groceries and if you want you never have to leave until it's time to go home.
The owner Sue has everything you need, floats, canoes, paddle board and a paddle boat.
Games for the water and games in the house.
Picnic tables a firepit and comfortable chairs at the end of the dock to enjoy the view. If you are lucky you can see a bald eagle, enjoy the family of herons and loons.
I could go on for hours about this but I'll leave it up to you to experience it yourself. Lastly should you decide to leave and explore all the area has to offer there is plenty to do and see.
Your family came to "Aruba North" the first year I started doing vacation rentals. I think the biggest compliment I could get is the fact that you all keep returning. Thank you.
Comfortable and Serene Tripp Pond Cottage
The cottage is comfortable and well-supplied, on a shallow cove that is a fishing go to spot, and the owner is engaged with guests' needs.
I am glad you all were comfortable after your long journey. There is a little something for everyone. The fishing right along the cove is some of the best on the lake and happy your daughter got her 1st catch. Lots of memories to be made here.
There is so much to explore in this area of Maine if you should choose to get out of the hammock or put down the fishing rod. There are 2 golf courses right in Poland, the Poland Springs Resort and the Summit Golf course. The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray could also be a good take as is the Shaker Village in Poland. For family fun try the Oxford Plains Raceway on Rt.26. They have everything from auto racing to monster truck competitions to demolition derbies. For grownup fun try the Oxford Casino also on Rt.26. Go for a seaplane ride in Naples. Bridgeton has a very unique movie theater and bar. Windham and Oxford also have movie theaters. Sea coast Fun park on Rt.302 in Windham will give you a thrill. If you love to shop then Freeport (45mins.) home of LL Bean is a must. Also horseback riding at the Carousel horse farm in Casco There are plenty of Antique and thrift stores to keep you busy. As you can see there is something for everyone, all you have to do is look.
