The feature we all look for foremost is proximity to the water and accessibility. This home has it all. It faces south-east and is drenched in sunlight from the moment the sunrises to mid/late afternoon. There are beautiful, unobstructed views of the lake, nearly level lot- no steep steps or high embankments. There is a gradual grade to your own private sandy beach. Enjoy the 56ft dock where you will find a small aluminum row boat , great for fishing or just checking the lake out. You will also find kayaks, an Old Town canoe and a stand up paddle board to cruise around and enjoy the sun and water. I do supply life vests for children and adults. They are required in the state of Maine. When you are done playing in the water, have lunch or refreshing beverage at the outdoor bar on the patio. Or just take a snooze in the hammock. We have outdoor games such as Bocce, bean toss or maybe a game of horseshoes . We abut a seasonal camp ground. The same people are there all season long. This is not an isolated location as there are neighbors in fairly close proximity as with many waterfront communities, but is an excellent waterfront location. There are safe dirt roads for the kids to ride bikes and several hundred feet away is the Hemlock camp general store. Convenient if you forgot an item or two or just go down to get an ice cream or snack. We caterer to the family vacation and not large groups.

When you step inside this cottage everywhere you look will remind you that you are in Maine. From lighthouses to Loons, bears and moose there is no doubt where you are. Fishing décor is present throughout the house as it is a very popular past time on Tripp Pond all year round. For those interested in fishing the lake is very shallow and is a warm water lake. It is phenomenal for Bass fishing. The kitchen is a large open concept area with plenty of storage and work area. The kitchen is very well appointed with utensils, dishware, pots and pans, and newer small appliances. The oven is gas and there is a full size refrigerator which is 1 of 2. (the other is in the utility building just outside the house). A water dispenser is also supplied for your cooking and drinking needs. The house water is drawn from the lake and is not meant for consumption. The Kitchen extends to the dining area near the large windows overlooking the lake. The dining table is custom made pine post furniture that is present throughout the cottage. The living area is cozy, has a tongue and groove pine ceiling and a sliding glass door to the patio area. Large windows also overlook the lake. The bathroom is on the first floor (shower/ no tub). There is also a second half bath in the outdoor utility building, great for your needs when on the beach or for emergencies. There is a bedroom on the first floor. It has bunk beds with a twin upper and a full size lower bunk. There is also a roll-away bed in this room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a beautiful rustic pine post Queen size canopy bed. Large windows afford you a great view of the lake and the sunrises. The second bedroom has a rustic pine post Full size four post bed. It offers the same great views of the first bedroom.

If the weather is less than ideal we have several board and card games. You will also find a DVD player and a VCR. We do have a small library of DVD and VHS movies, but feel free to bring your own.

About Susan Wons

I recently purchased this property and am very excited about it. I live in Massachusetts but have been a property owner in Maine for a very long time. My family owned a camp in North Windham which eventually became mine. I spent all of my summers there as a child. About a dozen years ago I sold it. Something has been missing from my life since. So back to Maine I have come. I have always dreamed of owning a waterfront home here. I am recently retired and am looking forward to spending time in my vacation home. I hope you will enjoy it too.

Susan Wons purchased this cottage in 2013

AWESOME

My family and I had an absolute blast at "Aruba North"! There was something for everyone, including our pets. The camp lacked nothing. Our stay was totally relaxing and fun. I highly recommend it to anyone considering a vacation in Maine. Thank you Susan!

A slice of heaven close to home

  • 5 of 5

WOW! Who would have thought that we found this place less than half an hour from our home. When I observed my husband and our golden doodle Max both asleep in the great hammock under the trees I knew we had found the perfect place to relax and unwind. My daughter and grandkids had a ball with all the water "toys" available for our use. I was astounded by how well the kitchen was furnished with every conceivable item you can think of to make cooking meals a breeze. And what a great grill. It's true, all you need to bring is your clothes & food. Even dog dishes, leashes and beds were provided. It was a wonderful experience that we hope to enjoy again next summer.

Owner's Response: So glad every one enjoyed their weeks at the lake. The goal is for every one to find their own bit of happiness, whether it be in the hammock or out on the lake. It is always sad when the time passes so quickly, but there is always next year.

Unplugged Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Although this cottage offers wi-fi connectivity, our family spent most of our week boating and playing in the lake, cooking outdoors, sitting beside late night campfires, and spending time really talking with one another. Imagine that! We felt like we were 'at home' the entire week we were there. The beds were comfortable - best night's sleep I had all summer. The open concept downstairs provided enough area to be together or separate. The separate water closet and shower meant no one had to wait for the potty to be available...especially the 4 year old. My son and his wife are kayak fans now. My grandson spent most of his day in the water. We played many of the board games as a family. We spent a day at the Maine Wildlife Park. (Pack a picnic and make a day of it. There are a lot of animals and educational opportunities to enjoy) We will have cherished family memories of our week at the Lake House. Susie has prepared the Lake House with everything you need...just add Family, Food and Fun.

Relaxing stay with everything we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

We had family coming for my daughter's graduation which happened to be the same weekend of Bates College graduation. I couldn't find rooms to accommodate everyone without going to 3 different hotels, paying an arm and a leg or traveling many miles from the graduation. Then I found Susan's property on home a way.com only ten minutes from the graduation. For about the same cost of three hotel rooms for two nights I booked the whole week. My parents got to extend their visit and I spent the rest of the week r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g!

The house was perfect on top of a place for everyone to sleep we didn't have to go to a restaurant for the celebration. Susan has a large grill and plenty of space both indoors and out. We had everything we needed. I just had to bring our food and personal items. I took the linen package as well and that made the return home less stressful as well (no bags of laundry to do). Although it was a little early in the season to swim we enjoyed the water with all the extras she has boat, canoe, kayak etc. A wonderful place that I would recommend highly.

We had an awesome week even with a few rainy days!

Thank you Susan for sharing such a beautiful experience with us.

Everything as advertised and more

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time. I had a recent shoulder injury and was thrilled with the easy access to all of the amenities. Just to relax and watch nature suited me fine. My husband totally enjoy fishing everyday (catch and releasing!). He had many stories for his buddies back home. Including his first ever paddle board experience. We had a great visit with local family enjoying with us as well. Cottage was well socked with many items that you need little of, saving considerable time and money. Thank you for a very beautiful and peaceful vacation.

Our 1st Maine vacation

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Susan for the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful state on Maine at your lovely cottage. We all had a blast. Ian, our son, loved all the water toys and was very impressive on your stand up board. Annika, our husky, got her first swimming "lesson" as she ran off the dock and belly flopped in. We really enjoyed the whole area as we made several day trips. The serenity of the lake in the evening sitting by the fire was my face. The lake looked like glass with the suns rays on opposite side picture like. We would come again.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay here in the Great state of Maine. Paddle boarding or sitting by the fire at the waters edge are just 2 ways to enjoy the lake. Please do come back north some time and explore more of the area.

There is so much to explore in this area of Maine if you should choose to get out of the hammock or put down the fishing rod. There are 2 golf courses right in Poland, the Poland Springs Resort and the Summit Golf course. The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray could also be a good take as is the Shaker Village in Poland. For family fun try the Oxford Plains Raceway on Rt.26. They have everything from auto racing to monster truck competitions to demolition derbies. For grownup fun try the Oxford Casino also on Rt.26. Go for a seaplane ride in Naples. Bridgeton has a very unique movie theater and bar. Windham and Oxford also have movie theaters. Sea coast Fun park on Rt.302 in Windham will give you a thrill. If you love to shop then Freeport (45mins.) home of LL Bean is a must. Also horseback riding at the Carousel horse farm in Casco There are plenty of Antique and thrift stores to keep you busy. As you can see there is something for everyone, all you have to do is look.
