Make yourself at home in this 3-bedroom Meadow Creek house. The space features one queen bed and three full beds, perfect for families or groups. Fenced yard perfect for kids and small pet. House recently renovated and new bathroom and large front porch for viewing the river. Public boater access just a minute walk from the house and bank fishing there. The house stays comfortable year-round with heating and AC. Meadow Creek is a trout stream nearby that allows excellent fishing. The New River is a world class fishery and known for its recreation. Guided Fishing trips and kayak rentals available. Winterplace is a short drive as well as destination towns like Fayetteville and Lewisburg. Hinton is a great little railroad town and home to Bluestone lake. Whether you’re unwinding indoors or planning your next adventure, this tremendous retreat offers a marvelous base. We hope you enjoy what our place and Meadow Creek has to offer. The house sits beside a railroad track and coal trains do run through here frequently. Trains do blow the horns here as there is a crossing. Most folks love watching the trains but they do run at night occasionally.

Was very impressed with this home. The amenities that was available worked for our stay. We had everything we needed to cook and even grill out. We had two adults and 3 teenage girls and our dog. No one wanted to leave. Very quit, minus the trains. Property was kept up and was shocked to discover two apple trees on the property. We would definitely book again on our next trip. Definitely a home away from home experience.

The house was clean and had some positives, particularly the fenced yard, apple trees, and proximity to the river. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t stay here again.The biggest issue by far was the train noise. The house is literally right in front of an active railroad crossing, which was not apparent from the listing. The first train came through around 9:40 p.m., and we counted FIVE throughout the night. Because it’s at the crossing, this wasn’t just the rumble of trains passing by—every train came with blaring horns and the crossing-gate alarms. Needless to say, no one got much sleep and we left with four very cranky kids and two sleep-deprived adults.The listing mentions the area’s railroad history, but there’s a big difference between staying in a charming “railroad town” and discovering your bedroom comes with VIP seating for the overnight freight schedule. Unless you’re an exceptionally heavy sleeper, bring industrial-strength earplugs or plan to be heavily tranquilized, don’t expect to get any sleep. The house is fairly basic: no dishwasher, extremely creaky floors, a very weak-flushing toilet, and a cracked/damaged refrigerator. Individually, these are minor, but together we got more of the “simpler times” experience than we bargained for.At about 240 for one night, we didn’t feel it was a good value. If you’re an insomniac train enthusiast, though, this may be your dream rental.

I apologize for your less than desired stay. Due to the weather there were a lot of trains running at that time. Most folks like the trains but not everyone. I wasn't aware of a broken fridge and toilet but will be replaced today. I appreciate the feedback

Trains, River, and Mountain view with enough room for a five-person family, and updated cold air conditioning and kitchen. The location is nice for deploying by car across the New River Gorge region. In West Virginia fashion, expect 3-7 coal trains a night at the nearby double crossing. Their horns can be startling if you’re a light sleeper. Our kids didn’t mind at all and loved the trains. Even the Amtrak Cardinal line runs through 3x a week at 10:30 am. The owner instantly approved our request and provided good instructions for the stay. We loved the misty mountain view in the mornings from the front porch. It’s about a 100 yard walk to the New River, with boat access. Most of the time the area is very quiet and serene. This was our first trip to the New River Gorge, and I definitely think we’ll be back.

Our trip was such a great experience! Our host was very informative! The place comes with pretty much everything you need! Very clean and nostalgic to “ simpler times”. Very close to the river where we caught some fish. Bedding was clean and so was other furniture. Very relaxing and quiet spot to stay “ other than the railroad at some times LOL” but such a great place to stay and at the price. Very kid friendly as well! If you’re looking for a relaxing stay and just a great get away trip this is your place & host!
