This is a great place to be in quiet solitude. Felt very secure. No other houses in sight and at the end of a small road. I am a light sleeper so loved that it was quiet however there is a rooster but ear plugs solved that problem. The beds are quite hard - which I prefer. It does smell musty and I am very allergic to mold -however if I left the doors open during the day (when not raining) it didn’t smell too bad. The hot water never ran out. The drive up is windy and steep like many of the mountain Roads in Madeira. The driveway is steep. If you’re not great at driving manual it could be a stressful drive upCommunication with the host and check in details before arrival was very difficult to sort out but easy to remedy with time. Anna was very pleasant in person. Overall I very much enjoyed staying here especially because of the proximity to excellent hiking.
