The neighborhood:

Nestled just 45 minutes west of Denver along Interstate 70, Georgetown is the mountain town you pull into when you want to leave the pretense of the city behind. Sitting comfortably at 8,530 feet, this historic silver-mining camp has swapped its rugged 1850s gold-rush grit for a beautifully preserved, laid-back alpine charm.

Here, Victorian architecture frames a compact, walkable downtown where old brick buildings house modern craft breweries, cozy cafes, and local artisan shops. There are no massive chain stores or roaring stadium crowds—just crisp mountain air, a glistening lake, and a community of locals who always have time to recommend a favorite hiking trail or a local draft beer.

Georgetown acts as the perfect casual basecamp for whatever flavor of outdoor adventure you are craving. If you are visiting during the winter, you are a quick 20-minute drive from the fresh powder at Loveland Ski Area and less than 45 minutes from legendary slopes like Arapahoe Basin and Keystone. In the summer, the area completely transforms. You can climb aboard the historic, steam-powered Georgetown Loop Railroad for a scenic ride through the canyon, pack a picnic for the shores of Georgetown Lake, or lace up your boots to conquer the breathtaking switchbacks of Guanella Pass. No matter the season, the vibe here remains delightfully unhurried; nobody is rushing, and comfort is prioritized.

When you stay at our properties in the Bighorn Crossing community, you also get a massive perk to help you unwind after a long day of exploring. Our guests enjoy full, complimentary access to the premium indoor pool and hot tub located just a short walk away at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Georgetown Lake. It is the absolute perfect spot to soak your muscles after tackling a steep hiking trail or carving up the ski slopes, letting you recharge in comfort before heading back out to enjoy a peaceful, star-lit Rocky Mountain evening.

• Rutherford Trail (Easy to Intermediate): Accessible right from downtown Georgetown, this beautiful trail hugs a rushing mountain creek, takes you past cascading waterfalls, and offers plenty of shade under the pine canopy.

• Silver Dollar Lake Trail (Intermediate): A stunning 4-mile out-and-back trail that guides you past three pristine, high-alpine lakes (Naylor, Silver Dollar, and Murray) with incredible mountain views as you break through the treeline.

• Mount Bierstadt (Difficult): Starting at the summit of Guanella Pass, this grueling but highly rewarding trail scales one of Colorado’s iconic "14ers," climbing up to 14,060 feet for 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains.
