"I've rented a lot of properties. This is one of my favorites." This review from a recent VRBO traveler sums up the experience you'll have in this charming 1940s cottage, located on a quiet cul-de-sac which is a stone's throw from Lenox center. The home comes fully equipped with queen-sized beds in two bedrooms, two twin beds in the third bedroom, two full bathrooms (one with a bath and shower, the 2nd with a shower), air conditioning, fireplace, sun room, living room, stocked kitchen, dining room, cable & internet, and an ample back yard. It's located less than a mile from Tanglewood, great hiking, Shakespeare & Company, and Lenox's main street. If the wind is blowing in the right direction, you can hear the Boston symphony rehearsing.
The Berkshires offers a rare combination of striking natural beauty and a cultural richness, with Tanglewood, theatre, and museums. The cottage on Nielsen is also a rare combination of 1940s charm and 21st century amenities.
We are 5 minutes from Tanglewood and the center of Lenox, and yet we're on a cul-de-sac. There's little to no through traffic, and it's peaceful and quiet.
My family and I have stayed at this dear place twice..loved every minute. We spent the holidays here last year and again this year. Cottage is truly delightful...has all the comforts of home and more. Such a relaxing and inviting atmosphere...fabulous fireplace and good books....I would highly recommend it and plan to return. Very private and convenient to little village of Lenox...it's just a short walk and it's a great little town with lots of great shops and fine dining options.
The Berkshires have always been a magical place for me. I have stayed at several B&Bs and rented several houses over the years. This lovely cottage was the nicest place I have rented and made my vacation perfect. It is in a great location; close to town, but still quite and peaceful. It is perfect for a group of friends. There are 3 lovely bedrooms on the second floor and one bathroom on the first floor and one on the second floor. The sun room is a beautiful place to read and relax in the mornings. The owner, Robin, was incredibly easy to work and communicate with. The house was immaculate. There were even fresh flowers on the table and the refrigerator was stocked with eggs, OJ and coffee for our first breakfast. I plan to be back next year. If you want your little slice of heaven in the Berkshires, this is the place to be.
Lenox is a dream location in the summer. Cool temperatures and the best culture you can find on the east coast outside of New York City. Robin's cottage was smack in the middle of all the great things to see in the Berkshires. Walk to Tanglewood, walk to Lenox , a short drive to anywhere else you want to go. On a quiet street, across from Shakespeare and Co. Three bedrooms and TWO baths. It doesn't get any better. Then add to the mix a wonderful host, very stocked kitchen with Starbuck's coffee, what else can I say. All beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need. Bikes to use. Lawn chairs for the lawn at Tanglewood concerts. What a luxury !
The only issues we encountered were:
The lack of air conditioners in two bedrooms.
The furniture could be updated.
The great sunroom got too hot, as there were no windows that could be opened.
Overall this is a rare find in the luxury environs of Lenox. If we come back again we will definitely book this home.
The place was great, clean and even prettier than the pictures. Robin was helpful, thoughtful and accessible when needed.
My family and I will happily stay here again.
My family and I stayed at Robin's for the July 4th weekend and it was the perfect scenario. Robin was extremely helpful from the start and upon arrival left us a sweet note to kick start our weekend. The house is very well taken care off, very clean and well equipped (though we did little cooking). The rooms are charming and comfortable, the sun room was pretty to be in and the dining room was a plus to sit down for meals. The property was perfectly sized for our little dog to run around. The bedrooms were simple and very charming with nice little details. The beds were VERY comfortable-a big plus for us as (staying away from home is not always the case). There was one bathroom upstairs that was very clean with great water pressure in the shower-(so good
had to note it). We usually do not watch TV in the Berkshires, but there was one in the master bedroom and one downstairs (that needs to be pulled out). Wifi was excellent.
The location is ideal for a quick drive to Tanglewood (which we did for two nights) and even to town, though we also walked about 10 minutes to town which we loved. The location is also surprisingly quiet, as the road is only for a handful of homes. It was the perfect Berkshire experience, clean with an excellent location-all a win -win for us!
We loved staying at this house so much that I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review! We picked a stormy winter weekend to visit Lenox and despite our plans to get out and see the sights, we stayed in by a blazing fire most of the time. We were very comfortable reading, relaxing and playing board games. I've rented many properties in the past and this was one of my favorites. It has everything you could possibly want and there was something so sweet, cozy and charming about it. We felt miles away from civilization and yet we could walk to Lenox center with it's amazing restaurants and adorable shops. I also found the owner to be extremely thoughtful and kind.
