About the property

7 Bedroom, 4 Bath, Surrounding Deck And Large Back Yard In Castine. Sleeps 12

Our historic home is situated right on Main St in the heart of Castine. The home is across the street from the Castine Golf Course and two blocks to the shops. There is a large 1/2 acre yard off the back of the house perfect for kids to play and a large deck overlooking the yard and garden to enjoy the sun. The House had a major renovation in the summer of 2013 with a brand new updated kitchen, heating, windows, wiring, and paint. Our home has all the necessary amenities of a modern home (wifi, flat panel tv's, lighting) with the historic molding and charm of Castine. We have 4 bedrooms on the second floor with two more bedrooms on the third floor. Then an addition that houses a separate bedroom and bathroom area just off the main house for a total of 7 bedrooms. Great house for a large family or for multi-family stay in the heart of Castine, walking distance to everything.

About David

I am a school teacher who grew up outside of Boston and love coming back to New England in the summer time.

David purchased this house in 2013

Why David chose Acadia

My Mother and her husband have been a part of Castine for over 50 years.

What makes this house unique

Brand new and updated kitchen. Very well appointed home with all new furniture and historic pieces and rugs. Across the street from golf and tennis courts. Tons of sun and outdoor living. Two blocks from some of the best lobster rolls in all of Maine.

Great family stay and will stay again at this property

  • 5 of 5

This is my fourth year visiting Castine and I wanted my entire family to enjoy the same joy when I first visited this small coastal Maine village. Most of our family are both golfers and tennis players so the location of the house as noted in previous reviews is across the street. There are 4 hard tru courts in great shape and you can walk on and sign up just about any time. The living room is large and a great place to watch Wimbledon or hang out on a rainy day which did not happen to us in 2 weeks. There were 13 of us including 2 babies and we fit comfortably. There is a nice sun porch room that overlooks a good sized deck where we occasionally ate lunch or dinner. You can walk to this incredible restaurant called the wharf or to markels the bakery/restaurant. We spent a day at the tidal pool which is a mile away. The owners are nearby which I never called but good to know they are close.

5 star accomodations

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we have rented this fabulous home in Castine, Maine. It is large and can easily house a family of twelve. I especially appreciate that all the linens and towels are provided (something you don't find in NJ). The modern kitchen is fully stocked and a dream to work in. We enjoyed having the wide screen TV, in the evening, to watch the Olympics. The large deck, outside, was perfect to relax, with a glass of wine, after exploring all day. A short walk , down to the bay, can provide you with a good meal at Dennett;s Wharf and a fabulous view on the water. This year, the owner had also provided an outside charcoal grill that we used and enjoyed. I would highly recommend this large, comfy home to anyone vacationing in the area. G. Fox - New Jersey

Excellent stay in house with lot of good atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in David's house. We used it to its maximum, and even with all the beds in use it didn't feel crowded. David quickly responded to our requests, was flexible, and the house lived up to our expectations.

Amazingly comfortable house. Spacious, well decorated, directly across the street from Castine Golf Club tennis and golf. Two block walk to town and the water. Great front yard for kids games and wonderful new kitchen. We will definitely be back.

Spacious house in a perfect Castine location

  • 5 of 5

This house has oodles of SPACE! Lots of bedrooms, sitting areas and bathrooms made it a great place for our party of 2 families with multiple children. It is situated right at the top of Main Street across from the golf club, making it a short walk to the town dock, water, MMA, shops, and restaurants. The kitchen is nicely updated. The yard and porch were highlights that allowed us to enjoy the spacious beautiful area outside. There is no clutter or knick knacks, which worked well for us traveling with young children. We found the house clean and the owners welcoming and accessible.

Thanks for a nice stay!
