About Bob and Pam Hankins
Little Cabin in the Woods is the result of two couples dreaming of the ideal get-away. Rod and Anita, both educators, and Bob and Pam, a lawyer and an educator, are long-time friends who dreamed of owning a cabin as a home-away-from-home. Now retired, we enjoy traveling, grandchildren, the St. Louis Cardinals, corgis, and spending extended periods of time at the cabin.
Bob and Pam Hankins purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Bob and Pam Hankins chose Jasper
Little Cabin in the Woods was not purchased---it was designed and built by the owners! With the assistance of a Mennonite father-son team, the cabin took form over two years of persistence and hard work. Our 'fingerprints' are all over the cabin. We painted and hung the cabinets, laid the hickory hardwood floor, made and hung the curtains, and decorated. Little Cabin in the Woods is a labor of love for us. It provides a get-away and a place of solitude that is unmatched in one of the most beautiful best-kept secrets in the US----Newton County, Arkansas.
What makes this Cabin unique
We created the ambiances you will enjoy! The cathedral-like windows that stream the outdoors in, the wrap-around deck, the jacuzzi tub, the handcrafted cedar bedstead, the photos, the stain-glass window in the front door are among the unique features of the cabin. Little Cabin in the Woods is remote enough to give you the feeling of solitude yet close enough to Jasper to allow you to run into the grocery story to pick up that forgotten item.

The whole process was very smooth and easy. It was a beautiful house, great view off the back deck.
My only suggestion is to bring your own pillows. The pillows that have are so flat there is nothing left of them.
Also be careful on the far corner of the deck I am just a small woman but leaning against the rail it was wobbly, a big man may go right through.
Overall it was a great experience I would repeat.
Beautiful property and great views. Access to Jasper is quick and easy. Deck offers great views. Wonderful communication and would certainly utilize again.
Thanks for the thoughtful review! We are so pleased that you enjoyed the cabin--we agree that it's a great location and gorgeous view. We do hope you will visit again. Thank you for staying with us! Anita and Rod, Pam and Bob
This vrbo was one of the best well-stocked and perfect vrbo that we have stayed in. The view off the deck was spectacular!! It was every thing and more than was stated on the website. We had a great time and would love to rent again in the future.
Only problem we really had was the address apparently they where doing road construction and there was no road number to the street that it was on and GPS did not find it. It was very very difficult finding the house. Until they get the road sign up I would suggest helping your renters with better instructions
Thanks for staying with us! We are sorry you had difficulty locating the cabin during the county road construction. Unfortunately, the county is responsible for replacing the county road sign--hopefully, that will be done soon as they are completing the current improvements on Hwy 74. We did make every effort to put in writing to guests as much information as possible, e.g., exact mileage from Jasper to the turn, number of mailboxes at the turn, and we even provided a visual clue on a mailbox at the turn to signal guests. We also provide four phone numbers for guest to call if they have any issues. If you have any suggestions about how more detailed directions would help, we would welcome your suggestions. Thanks again.
Little Cabin in the Woods
We absolutely loved staying here! It was very quiet and secluded with plenty of space. Our two children 5 and 3 loved it too. Our only wish was that we could stay longer!
Thank you for the review! We are thrilled that your entire family enjoyed the cabin. We too love the seclusion and find it a great place for all ages. We do hope you will come visit in the future. Thanks again for staying with us!

Little Cabin in the Woods
This was the second year our family has vacationed here. It's in a beautiful area near the Buffalo River. The cabin is very nice and a great place for a family. Our one and a half year old granddaughter enjoyed her own playhouse and our grown children enjoyed kayaking on the Buffalo. Late Spring or the Fall would probably be prime time to go.
Thank you for your review and return visit, We so appreciate loyal guests like you! It's wonderful to hear your granddaughter enjoyed playing at the cabin and that your family found the cabin and area a great place to recreate and enjoy time together. We do hope you can visit again! Anita and Rod, Pam and Bob
Little Cabin in the Woods is located within miles of the first designated national river, the Buffalo National River. With multiple 'put-ins,' the river offers leisurely canoeing, off-river exploration of historical sites, hiking, and horse-back riding. The road 'up the mountain' (74 West) is a beautiful scenic drive. Don't miss dining at the Low Gap Cafe for unbelievable cuisine! Highway 7 South also provides a lovely scenic drive. Stop at the Arkansas Grand Canyon for a breath-taking view. While at the Arkansas Grand Canyon, enjoy lunch or dinner at Cliff House Inn.
Be sure to make a visit to the Ponca area part of your trip! Ponca is approximately 12 miles west on Highway 74. (Turn right onto 74) View elk from the comfort of your vehicle. (Elk were re-introduced to Arkansas recently and are thriving. Elk can be viewed by turning left onto Highway 43 and driving a short distance. Additionally, enjoy the historical 100-year-old Boxley Baptist Church which still holds services, the historical farmstead, and the Elk museum in Ponca. Jasper, the county seat for Newton County, has its own delights. The Ozark Cafe is a time-honored tradition that serves down-home cooking to visitors and locals. Antiquing at Emma's Museum of Junk is a treat not to miss. The Chamber of Commerce offers hand-crafted items from local craftsmen as well as information about the area. Want to float the Buffalo? Several concessionaires offer canoe rentals, drop-off and and pick-up services.
Of course, Branson and all its entertainment venues is just one hour away from the cabin.
