About Carolyn Miller
We are a retired couple--a native Californian and transplanted Floridian. We enjoy traveling ourselves and also enjoy providing a happy experience for the travelers who visit our mountain home. We enjoy cooking and think our mountain kitchen reflects that interest. In the photo, we're hiking in the woods behind our cabin, along a creek that runs to the north fork of the Tuolumne River.
Carolyn Miller purchased this Cabin in 1988
Why Carolyn Miller chose Tuolumne County
We have been visiting the Pinecrest area for over twenty-five years and love its peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere and scenic beauty and interest. Away from the heavy traffic and crowds of Tahoe and Yosemite, but close enough for a visit, this lovely part of the Sierra provides all of the activities that people come to the mountains for. Sonora Pass was the earliest route over the Sierra and is one of the highest and most scenic.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our mountain home was custom built to modern standards in 1988. Among other things, the outside walls were built with 2" x 6"s, instead of the standard 2" x 4"s, allowing for 50 per cent more insulation and strength, which makes the house easy to keep warm and cozy in winter and cooler in summer. We live on the coast and love to visit the mountains, so we feel we have the best of both worlds. Our house has been well taken care of. It's hard to believe that 20 years have passed.

Great spring break trip with family
Overall, very happy with our stay at this cabin. Carolyn provided excellent instructions on how to handle things, and she was very responsive to emails. The beds were comfortable. The open space around the cabin is wonderful. My only criticism is that the shower heads really need to be changed! My nephew said, "it feels like a pressure washer!"
We had a great stay at the Miller's Cabin
We really enjoyed our family vacation at the Miller's cabin. Come prepared for stairs. We all had a blast learning to play pool in the large downstairs game room and our teens loved the spacious loft area with the 4 twin beds and their own bathroom. The downstairs bedrooms had very comfy beds and gourmet stove was amazing. Plenty of pots and pans for preparing our dinners. We even got some fresh snow to play in. and having a garage to park in to keep the cars out of the weather was great. We stumbled upon a very scenic hiking trail down at the very end of Snow White Ridge Drive. Our next visit we hope to pack a lunch and hike all the way down. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the Miller's cabin and Carolyn provided very thorough directions for everything and was very pleasant to work with. ~The Reimer Family
The cabin was wonderful and the location was great. The owner was very friendly, accommodating and easy to work with. We went for a snow weekend, however, there wasn't any to be found (hence 4 stars instead of 5). That was not the cabin's fault. But we managed to road trip and found some snow for the kids to enjoy. Other than that, it was a great cabin, a great trip and we would definitely rent with these folks again. The downstairs pool table was a nice touch as well.
Thanks for the wonderful experience,
The Kolsters Family
The cabin had all amenities needed to make everyone feel at home.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience it.
Favorite cabin in the woods
This was our second stay at the Millers' cabin. As last time, we were torn between outdoor adventures, e.g. sledding at Pinecrest Lake and going for hikes, and just staying in the cozy cabin enjoying the wood burning stove in the living room or playing pool downstairs. There is a bit of extra hassle in bringing one's own sheets and towels (we managed to forget the latter), but it is more than outweighed by the reasonable rates for such a nice place. We hope to visit again soon.
Great Family Getaway
This was a great location for our family. Close to the lake and other sites to visit and picnic. The home was well appointed, we will go back again.
Pinecrest Lake is your swimming and boating destination. Outdoor movies are shown in the summer. The business area there has a store, restaurant and post office. There are many hiking trails and self-guided nature trails in the area. Information and maps are available at the Summit Ranger Station. Donnell Vista is a beautiful viewpoint about 21 miles east on Hwy. 108, which continues to Sonora Pass at just under 10,000 feet and on to the eastern Sierra (closed by snow in winter). A skating rink is open at Long Barn in the winter. There are antique shops in Jamestown and Sonora as well as in other towns along Hwy. 49. The Black Oak Casino is located at Tuolumne City.
