About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Located in the high Sierra community of Peter Pam, near Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge ski area, at an elevation of 5,550 feet and adjacent to national forest, this spacious two-bedroom-plus-loft/two-bath mountain home is the ideal family getaway. Twenty-four foot cathedral ceilings and picture windows frame mountain and forest views.

The fully-equipped kitchen includes a commercial Wolf cooktop, microwave, blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishwasher, and generous collection of pots, pans, and utensils. The large downstairs playroom features a tournament-size, heavy-duty slate pool table.

The inviting upper deck, situated to provide privacy and luxurious outdoor comfort, offers a table, chairs, sun umbrella, and three-burner Vermont Castings gas barbecue.

Our own road down around to the back of our property makes an excellent private sledding run in the winter time. The large double garage and level car-length driveway provide easy access and ample parking.

Escape the summer heat, or enjoy the snow and winter sports. Travel to nearby Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, or the Eastern Sierra. Hike scenic trails. Go on walks led by a trained naturalist from the Summit ranger station.

Take advantage of excellent stream and lake fishing. Rent a canoe, paddle-boat, rowboat or small outboard at the Pinecrest marina, and end your day with a movie at the outdoor amphitheater.

No Smoking, Please.

About Carolyn Miller

We are a retired couple--a native Californian and transplanted Floridian. We enjoy traveling ourselves and also enjoy providing a happy experience for the travelers who visit our mountain home. We enjoy cooking and think our mountain kitchen reflects that interest. In the photo, we're hiking in the woods behind our cabin, along a creek that runs to the north fork of the Tuolumne River.

Carolyn Miller purchased this cabin in 1988

Why Carolyn Miller chose Gold Country & High Sierra

We have been visiting the Pinecrest area for over twenty-five years and love its peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere and scenic beauty and interest. Away from the heavy traffic and crowds of Tahoe and Yosemite, but close enough for a visit, this lovely part of the Sierra provides all of the activities that people come to the mountains for. Sonora Pass was the earliest route over the Sierra and is one of the highest and most scenic.

What makes this cabin unique

Our mountain home was custom built to modern standards in 1988. Among other things, the outside walls were built with 2" x 6"s, instead of the standard 2" x 4"s, allowing for 50 per cent more insulation and strength, which makes the house easy to keep warm and cozy in winter and cooler in summer.

We live on the coast and love to visit the mountains, so we feel we have the best of both worlds. Our house has been well taken care of. It's hard to believe that 20 years have passed.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely time at your cabin and a lovely time in the mountains. I have been going to the Pinecrest area for many years, and each year we return I love it just as much as the first time. Your cabin was lovely, and we so enjoyed ourselves, my niece said she wished that she could live there forever!

Our family recently stayed at Miller's beautiful cabin. Words cannot express what a wonderful time we had. We caught lots of fish in pinecrest lake, and enjoyed the peaceful surrondings, and had a great time with our children and grandchildren. Thank you Bob and Carolyn for sharing your beautiful home in Peterpam!! we intend to go back!!!

Favorite cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Millers' cabin. As last time, we were torn between outdoor adventures, e.g. sledding at Pinecrest Lake and going for hikes, and just staying in the cozy cabin enjoying the wood burning stove in the living room or playing pool downstairs. There is a bit of extra hassle in bringing one's own sheets and towels (we managed to forget the latter), but it is more than outweighed by the reasonable rates for such a nice place. We hope to visit again soon.

Roomy , Homey Miller Cabin is great!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned (sadly) from a weeks stay at the Miller Cabin. Had 6 people and my older dog. I was grateful to have found a pet friendly place. The cabin was great. All the information and questions were clearly and promptly responded to by the owner prior to our arrival. I found the home clean spacious and with 6 people the 2nd bathroom was a blessing. Played pool and barbecued and enjoyed the sound of the robins singing at the end of the day. Quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Kids loved the loft and we were mere minutes from Pinecrest. Felt comfortable and at home .. kids are hoping for a .winter visit ..Would stay here again easily. It felt like a home away...Thank you Miller's for sharing your beautiful mountain home. Maren

Wonderful experiance

  • 5 of 5

My family and I are repeat renters and would like to thank Bob and Carolyn for sharing their peaceful mountain cabin (home) with us. It is nestled in the forest in a relaxed and comfortable setting.

Everything was exactly as advertised.

The cabin is big yet cozy with a generous deck (on it a large umbrella shaded table and huge barbeque), living room (with a big screen TV, stereo and wood burning stove) and enormous recreation room downstairs (complete with regulation pool table and it's own deck). Upstairs there is a roomy and airy loft with 4 beds, more open space and it's own bathroom. There is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy different activities at the same time.

The cabin has an enclosed two car garage for security and convenience.

The kitchen is very well equipped for any size meal and type of cooking. We found nothing lacking.

Water recreation at Pinecrest Lake and winter sports at Dodge Ridge are minutes away. Hiking and many other outdoor activities in the forest and wilderness are close by.

We found that one of the most pleasant surprises was the wonder of the night sky with an upside down bowl full of brilliant stars that we don't normally see.

Our experiance has been that this is a quiet, serene and centrally located setting for a pleasant summer or winter vacation.

We look forward to renting the Miller cabin many times in the future.

Chuck, Joan and family.

Donnell Vista is a beautiful viewpoint about 21 miles east on Hwy. 108, which continues to Sonora Pass at just under 10,000 feet and on to the eastern Sierra (closed by snow in winter). A skating rink is open at Long Barn in the winter. There are antique shops in Jamestown and Sonora as well as in other towns along Hwy. 49. The Black Oak Casino is located at Tuolumne City.
