The cottage is on Lac Sinclair, about 1 hour from downtown Ottawa. 5 bedrooms available, sandy beach, comes with use of a canoe, paddle boat and kayak, fire-pit by the lake, BBQ in the screened in porch so no bugs for dinner, wood stove in the basement along with a pool table, kitchen has electric stove, dishwasher and double sink and a refrigerator, (second refrigerator on the porch). Dining room table seats 10 people very comfortably and we have had 14 or more people without too many elbows being bumped. There is 1.5 bathrooms, sorry, a shower but no tub (although there is a lake…), washer and dryer in the basement washroom. It is on a well, so the water is very drinkable without having to worry about boiling. It is a four season place, so it is open in the winter too if you want to rent it later in the year. The price is 1500$/week, but please give me a call and we can discuss as this is the first year I am renting it out. I am asking for a 500$ returnable damage/cleaning deposit. You will get that back as long as there is no damage, undue cleaning required or noise violations/fines. Of course there are others on the lake so I ask that you consider my neighbours and not create a nuisance after hours. I also want to keep the place smoke free, there is a walk out area that is covered so smokers will not suffer too much even in the rain... Xmas/ New Years and Thanksgiving I will likely have special rates, and by special I mean higher. There may be a few extras as well, like firewood will be 200$ a face cord if you use a lot for bonfires. Add 10$ per night per person beyond 4 people for large groups.
What else can I say for now, there is space to set up a badminton net, and horse shoes or petanque if you prefer (have to bring your own balls or shoes), and a good size area for parking if required. Oh yes, the next door neighbor has a boat launch area that he has said we can use if you have a towed boat. Let me know about that beforehand so I can confirm though please.
For the winter, a little bit of a hill for tobogganing if you like. The lake does freeze over late in the season for snowshoeing and X-country skiing. Nice quiet location.

56 years old, born and raised in Ottawa. I have 5 kids, mostly grown up, two in university now. I am an Engineer working with National Research Council Canada for the last 17 years. I consider myself a handyman and do most of my own repair and upgrade work myself. I live in Ottawa, about 1.5 hours from my cottage.
Donald LeBlanc purchased this cottage in 2004
Good location for a large family get together. Shallow water and beach for kids. 5 bedrooms lets couples have their own spaces. Modern kitchen and screened in porch allows for the comforts of home while in the country setting. The lakes on the Quebec side are just beautiful with the hilly terrain. Its far enough from the city that you can actually see the stars and the milky way on a clear night. Clean air and very little light pollution.
I bought the place for the bedrooms, as I have a large family myself. But the thing that makes it great we find is the screened in porch. It makes such a difference not having to battle with blackflies, mosquitoes, wasps, and flys at dinner time. Overlooking the lake at lunch or dinner, and even having a coffee at breakfast when the lake is mirror smooth is such a wonderful experience.
We stayed for one weekend. Donald is good guy and very accommodating. The cottage itself is fairly large. Kitchen is upgraded with a huge table. So that was nice for meals. The beds could use an upgrading though. As well a thorough clean up of the entire property would make it a lot better. The lake is decent. A little tricky if you have an outboard as the bay is pretty shallow. But the water level was down almost a foot when we stayed. As well there are random rocks in the main part of the lake. Luckily we had someone with us who knew the lake.
All in all it was a decent get away for the weekend.
I spent three fantastic nights post-wedding at Donald's cottage. We had a great time and the cottage was fully equipped and accommodated our large group really well. We loved swimming in the lake, using the paddle boat and canoe, relaxing on the porch and barbecuing. Donald really went out of his way to ensure we reached the cottage as we were from out of town, and were comfortable. Highly recommend this cottage for a nice relaxing vacation with family or friends.
This was a wonderful cottage to rent. The lake is quiet, it is easy to find, accommodates many people, and has the amenities you could need. The owner was very nice and was great for responding to inquiries. I loved that it was pet friendly and that I was able to book for just the weekend. I would definitely rent this cottage again.
There was a lot of "storage" in the house, but it really had everything you'll need! An impressive VHS and DVD collection, pool table, dual BBQs and a full kitchen.
Being on the lake tops it all off. Such an amazing location!
We had such a great time!
