About this property
Lakeside cottage rental
CITQ registration #300046
The cottage is on Lac Sinclair, about 1 hour from downtown Ottawa. 5 bedrooms available, sandy beach, comes with use of a canoe, paddle boat and kayak, fire-pit by the lake, BBQ in the screened in porch so no bugs for dinner, wood stove in the basement along with a pool table, kitchen has electric stove, dishwasher and double sink, Keurig coffee and a drip machine and a refrigerator, (second refrigerator on the porch). Dining room table seats 10 people very comfortably and we have had 14 or more people without too many elbows being bumped. There is 1.5 bathrooms, sorry, a shower but no tub (although there is a lake…), washer and dryer in the basement washroom. It is on a well, so the water is very drinkable without having to worry about boiling. It is a four season place, so it is open in the winter too if you want to rent it later in the year. The price is 2,000$/week, but please give me a call and we can discuss winter rates. I am asking for a 500$ returnable damage/cleaning deposit. You will get that back as long as there is no damage, undue cleaning required or noise violations/fines. Of course there are others on the lake so I ask that you consider my neighbours and not create a nuisance after hours. I also want to keep the place smoke free, there is a walk out area that is covered so smokers will not suffer too much even in the rain... Xmas/ New Years and Thanksgiving I will likely have special rates, and by special I mean higher. There may be a few extras as well, like firewood will be 10$ a bundle for bonfires. What else can I say for now, there is space to set up a badminton net, and horse shoes or petanque if you prefer (have to bring your own balls or shoes), and a good size area for parking if required. I added bocci balls and crocket sets this year. The municipality has a new bylaw that prohibits you using your own boats. I expect that will be the same anywhere in Quebec, if not now then soon. They do this to protect the quality of the lakes from invasive species. For the winter, a little bit of a hill for tobogganing if you like. The lake does freeze over late in the season for snowshoeing and X-country skiing. Nice quiet location. Satellite TV, free wifi. Recently added a Hot Tub, for which there will be an extra 200$/stay usage fee.. Property is registered with both the municipality and CITQ, and has been inspected by police and fire department as part of that process so you know its safe. I even have an AED available on site, and recently, 2025, added epipens to my first aid supplies! I do not provide linens although I have some available if you are traveling long distances etc. We can discuss. I mention this here because there has been recent confusion with the website. If you do not see something specifically listed under amenities then please do not assume it is provided, ask the question of the owner.

About the host
Hosted by Donald LeBlanc
67 years old, born and raised in Ottawa. I have 5 kids, mostly grown up, one in university now. I am an Engineer working with National Research Council Canada for the last 27 years. I consider myself a handyman and do most of my own repair and upgrade work myself. I live in Ottawa, about 1.5 hours from my cottage.
Why they chose this property
Good location for a family get together. Shallow water and beach for kids. 5 bedrooms lets couples have their own spaces. Modern kitchen and screened in porch allows for the comforts of home while in the country setting. The lakes on the Quebec side are just beautiful with the hilly terrain. Its far enough from the city that you can actually see the stars and the milky way on a clear night. Clean air and very little light pollution.
What makes this property unique
I bought the place for the bedrooms, as I have a large family myself. But the thing we find that makes it great is the screened in porch. It makes such a difference not having to battle with blackflies, mosquitoes, wasps, and flies at dinner time. Overlooking the lake at lunch or dinner, and even having a coffee at breakfast when the lake is mirror smooth is such a wonderful experience.
