Unique, completely designer furnished, this 5 bedroom, 3 bath contemporary exudes warmth and distinction. Expansive, panoramic Chesapeake Bay views from every room, over 500 ft. of shoreline with fishing, crabbing, canoeing kayaking and swimming from the deep water pier. Situated on 12 private, wooded acres with nesting eagles and gorgeous, vibrant sunsets being just a few of the extraordinary features.
The picture gallery certainly attests to the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”. The main entrance opens to the second floor foyer and hallway which, on the right, leads to a bedroom suite (queen bed) decorated in a colonial Jamaican motif. The bedroom has direct access to a bathroom on one side and a screened-in porch on the other. The bathroom has both a shower and a Jacuzzi bath tub and a circular window inviting views of the bay and nature.
Continue down the hall and you step into a spacious open living room and reading area with a 30 foot ceiling. Before you is the 180 degree view of the Bay seen through a stacked row of wall to wall windows rising from floor to ceiling forming the perimeter of this octagonal home. From this elegant and, above all, comfortable living area you have access to both an open deck and screened-in porch with ceiling fans to augment the natural breeze. It is furnished with a teak dining set, Adirondack chairs set around a coffee table and of course, a hammock.
Off to the left is the dining room with glass again all around, offering views of the bay and the wooded acreage. Adjacent to the dining room is the well-equipped kitchen, which is open to both the living room and the dining room. In addition to the fridge, dishwasher, Jenn-Air oven, and microwave, there is a Kitchenaid mixer, a blender and of course lots of pots and pans, utensils, etc.
From the reading area, ascend the stairs leading up to the 3rd floor balcony overlooking the main living area and the bay. The balcony features a bedroom suite with queen bed, including a sitting area and a designer bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and double sink. In addition, the suite has its own deck so you can sun and relax in private.
The first floor opens at ground level to the boardwalk leading to the dock. It encompasses a central recreation room perfect for large screen TV viewing, a bathroom and 3 bedrooms (one with a king, the other two with queens). Each bedroom has a view of the bay and is tastefully decorated in its own unique style. This level is also where you will find the laundry room and a pantry with a second refrigerator.
Our deep water dock is perfect for crabbing, fishing, jumping in for a swim without touching the bottom, lounging on a stationary inflatable float or paddling around in a canoe or kayak exploring the shoreline. Also perfect for just sun bathing and relaxing with your family and friends and your favorite beverage, taking in the beautiful scenic setting as you hear the waves splashing up against the shoreline.
The dock is just one of many spots to take in the splendor of the ever changing palettes of color that are the unforgettable light show of the slowly descending sun, with its shimmering rays reflecting across the bay and the rolling hills of the distant shore. Of course the same show is available from the two open decks, the screened porch or in the comfort of any number of rooms in the house.
The acreage surrounding and adjacent to the house is the home of bald eagles which can regularly be seen perched on the tall lob lolly pines close to the house and soaring in the sky, or diving for fish they have spotted from on high. No need to go to the Blackwater Refuge if bald eagles are your only desire, although we highly recommend all the other attractions the Refuge has to offer!
Other outside activities include horse shoes, bocce ball, biking, kite flying, combing the adjacent shore for Indian arrowheads, sea glass and fossils and if you have any interest, there is a telescope to star gaze in the crystal clear night skies. Of course you can also sit around a fire pit late into the evening and roast marshmallows and s’mores.
Bring your bikes and explore Taylors Island’s four square miles which are crisscrossed by just eight roads. Enjoy and experience the marshes, farm land and woods and the wildlife that can be seen in its natural setting. Seek out and visit the various churches established there in the 17 and 1800’s. Don’t forget to plan lunch, dinner or drinks at The Island Grille or Palm Beach Willeys, both of which are located adjacent to marinas and boat ramps. Fishing charters can be arranged from the marinas, as well. You have the opportunity to experience some of the best fishing on the Chesapeake, especially famous for the Rockfish.
About 18 miles before reaching Taylors Island is Cambridge, which is your last chance to do serious grocery shopping. You may very well want to visit and explore this quaint town during your stay and enjoy its shops, art galleries and restaurants. Just outside of town is the Hyatt Regency Resort which has a gorgeous golf course and wonderful spa facilities. Also nearby are charming Oxford, Easton and St Michaels, with an abundance of culinary and cultural offerings including various Harriet Tubman historic sites. About halfway between Cambridge and Taylors Island, take a slight detour to find Blackwater Wildlife National Refuge, which is a top destination for nature lovers. You can explore on your own or join organized bicycle and or kayak tours offered by Blackwater Paddle and Peddle

For 25 years our group of college friends and family have gathered in the fall at VRBO houses here and there around Pennsylvania, WV and Maryland for a long weekend. Eagles Crossing has to be one of our all time favorite places, and this year was a return visit. The house is perfect -- deeply comfortable, well equipped, very clean -- and the setting is just incredible. We always cook breakfasts and evening meals in so the excellent kitchen and huge table are an important feature that allow us to relax and share conversation together. The decks and screened porch give access to the outdoors even in rain, and the bald eagles stopped by every day to check us out. Cambridge is a fun little town for eating lunch, and the Blackwater Refuge is a favorite place to walk. The owner has been perfectly gracious for both our visits, very responsive and even agreeing to make accommodations if Hurricane Matthew moved in, though as it turned out we only felt the outer edge of the storm.
We spent a week at Eagles Crossing and enjoyed it fully. If you are a fan of water views and privacy, then this is the place for you. From almost every point on the main floor, including the decks, living room and dining room, there is endless water, and every clear evening an amazing sunset. True to its name, there were bald eagles every day on the trees to the south of the property (four on one tree one morning!). We also spotted woodpeckers, humming birds, frogs and butterflies.
We enjoyed all of the water activities, including canoes and paddle boards. We even managed to catch some crabs off the dock. If you are traveling with small children, I would bring your own life jackets, as most of the ones provided, while in great condition, were for adults. The bikes were in great shape as well.
The rooms were all comfortable and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked. We had a great time and loved the house and area. Thanks for a wonderful week!
Eagles Crossing is the Perfect Place!!! If you are looking to get away, it is secluded and in a peaceful location. If you just want to rest, the house has so many areas to just relax; the deck, a screened porch with a hammock; large living area overlooking the bay; great rec room and 5 cozy/comfy bedrooms. If you like nature it is all around you; beautiful sunrises; spectacular sunsets; grand Bald Eagles, woodpeckers, bunnies, wild turkeys and all sorts of birds, butterflies, and even frogs (which are not my favorite) are easily spotted everyday. And you can get a close up look and identify the birds with the binoculars and bird watching books that are provided. The walk out dock on the bay is very nice also for just relaxing and enjoying the sunset or to our surprise, fishing is very good there also. We caught a good sized Rock Fish there and also saw sting rays. Didn't have as much luck with crabbing, but I think it was user error....we were using the wrong bait. If you like outdoor activities, there are nice bicycles, helmets, canoes, kayaks, life jackets, crab nets available. The house is well stocked with everything, and I mean everything you need!!! All you need to bring is your food. All the bedrooms are nicely decorated and have individual temperature controls. There is plenty of extra linen, towels, blankets, pillows. The appliances are new, including washer and 2 dryers, 2 refrigerators, stove, dishwasher, and a water softener (I think). The owner and caretakers have put a lot of thought and care into making sure you will be comfortable. And they are very responsive throughout the entire rental process and stay. Got email responses in minutes and all questions answered!!!
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Eagles Crossing. We entertained a couple of nights and there was plenty of room for everyone and the music was great on the Bose speaker unit provided and easy to connect our music to it. We also enjoyed several days of quiet, rest and relaxation. And we enjoyed activities in the area in Cambridge & St Michael: Harriet Tubman Museum, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Farmers Markets, nice restaurants, excellent Charter Fishing Trip with Bruce Abbott/O Dark Thirty Charter and antique shops. Oh, almost forgot about the firepit...s'mores were great!!!
We highly recommend Eagles Crossing!!! There's something here for everyone!!!
This was our first time booking with HomeAway, and everything went very smoothly. The Eagles Crossing property was just beautiful - lots of space in the house, and all was well-decorated, comfortable and clean. The location was just gorgeous and very private. The kids flew kites, hiked around and watched boats pass by. We also loved watching the constellations at night and the eagles, wild turkeys and deer during the day. Really felt like we got away from it all. The booking manager and owner were very responsive during the booking and we had no issues at all. Very enjoyable stay - highly recommended.
We had a lovely weekend over Thanksgiving. So lucky that the weather cooperated. We were outside every day & made use of the canoes. The sunsets were breath-taking. The house was spacious giving everyone enough privacy but also we all fit round the table for the holiday meal. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipt for all the cooking we did. Enjoyed a little time in town. Compared to comparably sized places nearby this was an excellent value too.
We look forward to a return trip someday
We spent a lovely Christmas with extended family at Eagle's Crossing. The owner and the manager of the property were extremely responsive, from the very first inquiry (traveling with young children, we had many) to the last day of the stay. They were flexible with check-in and check-out and the owner even responded within 30 minutes to a minor question emailed to him at 10pm on Christmas Day.
The house sits right on the water and has its own dock, there's great nature and hiking and water sports etc. It is sufficiently large to allow Christmas dinner for 14 people, although only 10 were staying over night. The screened-in porch and the large living room allow for easy mingling or for groups to peel off and "do their own thing". The loft space is luxurious with a lovely bathroom and has good visual privacy from the main floor (housed 2 adults), there is a nice bedroom with en-suite bath on the main floor (another 2 adults), and there are three true bedrooms on the lowest floor (2 kids in beds, 2 toddlers in cribs, 2 adults), with a "bonus" recreation room that leads straight out to the dock. We have rented other properties through homeaway / vrbo and this one was the "best-stocked". It had virtually everything to make the stay pleasant. This is not one of those situations where you have to arrive with your own toilet paper. More like visiting a friend's place and they just happen to be out.
This is a great getaway for nature lovers who want a comfortable, even luxurious experience.
