Don't go in with high expectations. The ad is misleading, but it wasn't a terrible experience.

  • 2 of 5

If you are expecting a resort like experience, you might want to look elsewhere. If you have children, you may want to look elsewhere. If you are over 6 feet tall, you may want to look elsewhere. The view is great; you get exactly what you are asking for with the view. For the most part the previous reviews have been pretty spot on.

It isn’t the cleanest place. There is a pungent wet dog odor when you enter the unit and upon arrival there was dog hair on the floor. The outside of the home has not been kept, there are pine needles over all of the walkways and all of the outdoor shrubbery is overgrown; it was difficult for us to determine exactly how to get to the “side door” because there wasn’t a clear pathway. If you don’t mind things like the tops of things like the fridge are dusty, or the corners of the floor near the bathtub having typical buildup, you probably won’t notice the mess.

This isn’t a childproof home. The deck isn’t exactly structurally sound. Coming out of the back door to the right, about 2wo feet of the deck has no support. It looks like there were a couple of attempts to solve the problem was with a couple of quick fixes like a bracket to keep the banister on. But the wood is rotting where the support is, and the bracket isn’t fooling anyone. The neighborhood is safe, but the sliding door does not lock, you will have to put a stick in it. The front and side doors have locks on the handles, but no deadbolts. The owners have placed a hook and eye latch on the mobile home door with a keypad, and a latch on the other door. Side note about the back sliding door, its only 6ft tall, so watch your head!

“Private beach access” means that the beach is accessible down the street. However, its managed by the neighborhood so unless you have a key, you won’t be able to get down the steps to beach. There isn’t a key to the lock in the unit; not sure why, I feel like people, ourselves included, would have been much less disappointed in the experience if the description were true to what we were actually receiving.

Not as pictured

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately, our stay was not as expected at this property that is less than ideal for a getaway. I was told we could get a code for the door on the day of our arrival. We waited until 4pm check in and still no code. When I called about our code I was told "Oh, was that today" No apology, just the code and wifi information. As we entered the home, it was hot and musty. It was somewhat clean but there were cobwebs in the corner and dead bees and wasps in the window sills. The patio furniture is not as pictured and we only had a table and 4 chairs that were dirty. While we had a beautiful view to the Northwest, right next door was a home that looked uninhabitable...oh, but it was. The surrounding neighborhood leaves something to be desired, not a great area for walking or hanging around. The furniture in the living room is not very comfortable and I'm grateful for a nice dining room table for playing cards and games. I don't often write reviews and wanted to share our experience so others are aware. If nothing else is available and you have to be on the island, maybe this works. Close to Langely and Freeland, great view to the NW but other than that, not much good to report.

Disappointing water-front double wide mobile home

  • 1 of 5

While the setting was lovely from the deck--high bank over the harbor--there was no promised beach access becasue there was no key to the gate. Very disappointing, as we had hoped for a beach holiday.

The house was a very tired double wide mobile home in a community of same. The kitchen was sparsely furnished. Disposal did not work. Outdoor grill did not work. There was not enough infrastructure to cook any thing but the simplest meal. There were no new sponges, only used and smelly old ones (yuck!).

There were no extra blankets, just 2 throws, one of which was very dirty. Bed is a mattress on slats: OK, but no box spring, not enough slats, especially at the bottom (no way to tuck sheets in) and very noisy. Inside furniture was not relaxing (2 loungers, one leatherette chair and leatherette sofa with no arms). Deck furniture was in need of repair.

The worst thing was that the cabin smelled very bad, especially in the bathroom. There were no apparent plumbing problems but the smell caused us to wonder if the septic system was failing.

Housekeeping was good: the unit was clean.

Photo images are of better days.

Perfect for 5 of us!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed there with friends for a wedding. Great view, but we couldn't find the key for beach access but drove to a beach a few miles away. Grocery store is just 5/10minutes away. I wish they would have had some bare essentials like cooking oil. It was very rustic and nothing fancy. It was fun to pay drinking games on the deck!

Not very clean, very dark, not stocked well.

  • 1 of 5

Not really happy with how many problems we encountered. NO CAN-OPENER. 5-MISSING LIGHT BULBS, DISHWASHER LEAKS,(your floor is getting ruined by it) YOU HAD TO BE A MAGICIAN TO START IT(The first night we ended up doing dishes by hand). NO CHAIRS TO ENJOY THE VIEW OUTSIDE(which it shows in the rental picture) THEY SAID A TRAIL TO THE BEACH, WHEN WE FOLLOWED THE TRAIL IT WAS A LOCKED GATE.. The view was very nice. NEEDED a shovel to pick up dog poop that would of been nice also. You need to limeaway your bathroom faucets, and clean behind the kitchen sink, and under it, yuck. Don't forget to clean behind the TV stand, trash left in the corner by the woodstove from other people , the brown chair had hair and food on it. Also it's a mobile home or trailor house.(NOT A HOUSE)

What's that smell

  • 1 of 5

Opened the door & the overwhelming smell of mold/dead animal permeated the whole place. They must have known about it since there was a lot of air freshener around the place. The beds are absolutely terrible. It was like sleeping on a board. There was no Wifi either. All the owner had to do was set it up. We also checked before arriving that there was propane BBQ, but when we were about to start cooking, realized there was no tank. The view is nice, but that's about it. Would not come back or recommend.
