About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 5 (5 adults)

This dreamy ocean view South Beach vacation rental, just south of Newport, is the perfect place to hide from the stresses of everyday life. This cozy coast getaway has room for everyone to relax, as well a large deck and private beach, accessible from either side of the creek.

Heading in the other direction, besides the famous aquarium in Newport, you can spend the day exploring the area around the Yaquina Head lighthouse, run on Agate Beach, or just browse the shops and galleries of Newport's artsy Nye Beach area.

From inside, you'll love the ocean view from this home's wall of windows! Do some storm watching on a chilly winter afternoon while the propane stove keeps it all warm and toasty inside, or view a stunning summer sunset after dinner. There are plenty of comfortable sofas for everyone to sit back on after a day hiking, playing on the beach, or wandering the exhibits at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. And if it's too rainy to enjoy the outdoors, there's cable TV, a DVD player, and WiFi for entertainment at home.

You'll love the convenience of having a full kitchen here! Just stock the refrigerator and cabinets with groceries and vacation meals will be easy to prepare! There's even a small charcoal grill on the deck if you want to grill outside, surrounded by the large backyard. If you do want to venture out for meals, a short drive north will take you to Fishtails Cafe for breakfast or lunch - and after crossing the historic Yaquina Bay Bridge, you'll have even more dining options on Newport's bustling bayfront.

After dinner, you can explore the beach - about a three-minute downhill walk away, play a family board game inside, or just find a quiet spot to curl up with a good book. When it's time to turn in, one bedroom has a queen sized bed, the living space has a single size sleeper, and the other bedroom has two twin beds making this house perfect for up to five guests.

And if you get dirty while on your coast adventure, there's a washer and dryer back at the house.

Spend your days walking along the shore, pant legs rolled up. You'll have a long, sandy stretch of beach to explore. Nearby attractions include wine tasting at Stone Crest Cellars, hiking at Lost Creek State Park, or wildlife watching along the tide pools at Seal Rock.

Plan a family stay at Alicia's Beach House and soon you'll be unwinding and relaxing at the beautiful Oregon Coast in South Beach!

About Vacasa, OR - Oregon Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time staying here, the windows overlook the beach and make for a gorgeous view even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. The kitchen is nicely stocked with everything you could need. The TV room was a bit cold, but there is a provided space heater in case someone sleeps down on the futon couch.

The House of Don'ts/Very Mediocre

  • 2 of 5

Other than the view being amazing and good beach access, the house was very mediocre. Our first impression was the musty smell in the entire house. The smell lingered the whole weekend. Then we started noticing notes everywhere asking not to do this and not to do that. Don't open the window, don't run the dishwasher on anything but light wash, don't come in the house with your shoes on, don't go in garage because of mice poison, don't put plastic cups in dishwasher, don't turn the front right burner on very high, etc. Every room has notes of what they don't want you to do. It made it uncomfortable. But the one that was most annoying was, "Don't use the shower. Only take a bath in this tub." There is a wood window on the shower wall and I'm assuming they don't want it to get wet. If so, then why in the world would you put a wood window where the water is going to hit the window. Let's use common sense. The other bathroom seemed like an after-thought. It was so small with a strange corner toilet and a tiny shower, and zero counter space for anything. The whole layout of the house was very strange. It felt like a trailer that was pieced together.

I reviewed the pictures after we returned home. They are deceptive. I understand the specifications of how many people the house can sleep, but the pictures lead you to think there are more bedrooms than what there actually is. There is 1 bedroom with a queen bed and no door on the bedroom which does not give privacy. The other bedroom has 2 twin beds and is really not for adults. The couch is a sleeper and we all know how incredibly uncomfortable those are, plus it's in the middle of the living room! The kitchen table has a bench on one side that is pushed up against a heater, but of course they don't want you to use the heater because it's next to the wood.

The on-line pictures are professionally done I think because they look nothing like the way the house really is. Plus you can't "smell" the musty odor on-line. We will not be staying here again. There are much nicer places to stay for the same price.

Owner's Response: We are very disappointed to see this guest did not have a more relaxing experience. We will have housekeeping address the odor, and the property manager will work with maintenance and the owner to make improvements to the maintenance issues. Thank you!

Great location and view

  • 4 of 5

We stayed with our 3 children at Alicia's Beach House and loved the location. The view is as beautiful as the pictures! You can hear and see the ocean very easily. The neighborhood is nestled in trees and the beach is a short walk down a paved hill and easy to access. Plenty of games, movies, books, etc. South Beach is a few miles from Newport. It's just a few minutes to the bay, aquarium, etc. A couple of notes: the shower in the second bathroom isn't working, so there's only one shower. The main bedroom has a very comfortable bed but no door, so that's important to know if you need privacy or some members of your party stay up later/get up earlier. All in all, a great place to stay with a few quirks.

Not bad.

  • 3 of 5

But not great either. One shower for four adults a bummer. No door to second bedroom awkward. Twin beds hard and uncomfortable. WEAK fireplace and teeny kitchen. Highway noise cancelled out surf. On the plus side....great deck and view. Private beach access was an outstanding plus...saved the day.
