About the property

2 Bedroom with additional Luxury Sleep Sofa , 2 Bath, Sleeps 6. Panoramic View

This beautiful, Craftsman style home has the most beautiful view of any home in the Blowing Rock area. The cottage truly has a Million dollar view with amazing, panoramic, views which include Grandfather mountain, Hawksbill, Table Rock and the Blowing Rock.

It is very near to the Village of Blowing Rock and nearby restaurants are only minutes away.

Relax in front of the real log burning fireplace on leather sofas on the main floor. Entertaining is easy with open dining and kitchen spaces. It is a professional kitchen with granite counter tops and a large island. The kitchen has all the amenities that you need. The dining Room sits 6 with 3 additional seats at the island. The long range views can be seen from the Living room, Dining room and Kitchen.

The house is perfect for two couples, with 2 separate yet open areas on each floor. There is a Master Bedroom downstairs with a large closet and Bath. In addition to the Kitchen and Dining area, there are two sitting areas and a wet bar. There is a real wood burning fireplace in the main living room. There is a large workroom/laundry area on the main floor and a viewing deck.

The upstairs includes one bedroom and bath. There is a luxurious sleep sofa in the upstairs den that can double as third bedroom.

The amazing view can be seen from the upstairs balcony. You will want to spend a lot of time there. You will want to entertain in the upstairs area as there is a wet bar, beverage cooler and sitting areas with a TV so that you can watch the game or play cards etc.

This house has been a labor of love. The furniture and bedding are comfortable and luxurious. We have used only the best in terms of materials with beautiful real stone, oak trim and hardwood floors throughout. The baths are spa like in feel with hand scraped recycled wood sink vanities and tile floors.

There is a back yard where you can enjoy the view as well as from the deck. Not many places can boast of an incredible view and still have a back yard with roses and lilies and rhododendron.

You can't beat the convenience of being located so close to Main street and having the privacy of your own place with this incredible view. This is absolutely the best place to enjoy the High Country and all that it offers.

We welcome you to view our other properties as well.

About Lisa Harris

My husband and I currently live just outside of Blowing Rock. We love the mountains and love to hike, ride motorcycles and just enjoy the view. We want to introduce other people to this wonderful place. I am an interior designer by trade and have worked in the building industry and the furniture industry for years. It comes natural to me to create beautiful spaces for people to live.

Lisa Harris purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Lisa Harris chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Blowing Rock and the mountains of North Carolina have a special place in my heart. It is an intensely spiritual place and being of Native American heritage, I find that I am at peace here. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I have lived in North Carolina all my life but I didn't move here until 2001. It took me that long to get to Gods country!

What makes this cottage unique

I love coming into this home with its amazing views! The world just slows down when I am relaxing on the decks or in front of the fireplace. It is a quiet place even though it is close to town. We have added extra insulation in all the walls so that you don't hear the hustle and bustle of the outside world. We named this place Elkstone because the original home that was here had special Elkstone rock fireplaces in it. Elkstone is a native rock to this area and you can still see remnants of this stone in the old outside fire pit and in the old stone wall in front of the house. We used this as inspiration when we selected lamps, art work etc. We found an old antique antler chandelier from a castle in Germany that is gracing the entryway. We also found a special lighting sconce from the Mayview Manor which was an old grand hotel that used to be in Blowing Rock. We have tried to stay true to the traditions and history of Blowing Rock.

Perfect home. Perfect view. Perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible time staying here. The home is beautiful and the finishes are the highest quality. The view off the back porch is as good as it gets. It's as good as the view from the top of grandfather mountain, and yet you get to wake up to it every morning. Our children and dogs loved playing in the fully fenced backyard. It was literally perfect for us and the location so close to downtown Blowing Rock can't be beat. The only SLIGHT complaint is that the road noise is present at times during the day, although most of the noisy construction seems to be wrapping up at this point and it's really nothing that you notice much after the first day or two. Later at night there's little traffic and you can just watch the sun set over the greatest view we've ever had. And the owner is as kind and helpful as you could hope for. I'd give this pace 6 stars if I could. Perfect.

Best view, accommodations and location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is fantastic. Spacious and comfortably elegant as a mountain lodge with a panoramic view of the mountain range. Really, it's a bit of heaven. Can't wait to return.

Spectacular View!!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful 2 week vacation at Elkstone from August 7 - 22, 2017. The mountain view is simply spectacular and changes constantly. We spent many hours having coffee and cocktails on the covered deck while enjoying the panoramic view. We loved the constant activity of the hummingbirds and other little birds near the deck. The house has top-of-the-line appliances and is spotless and well-appointed. The fenced, terraced yard was perfect for our dog to roam and play ball. The layout of the house is great for guests or another couple with the self-contained suite and balcony on the second floor. We loved the convenience of being so close to the town of Blowing Rock and all its restaurants and shops. Unfortunately the highway work continues and they were blacktopping the areas in front of the house for the entire 2 weeks which caused even more noise than the normal highway traffic would. Lisa, the owner, was very prompt in responding to any questions and in helping us in any way. We had the added delight of experiencing a partial eclipse of the sun even though the clouds came through toward the end. The weather was cool and a delightful respite from the oppressive heat at our Amelia Island, Florida home.

Owner's Response: Thank you for coming! I am glad you had a good time and enjoyed the house. You really can't beat the views from the house. We love the house so much! I can't wait until the road construction is finished! I guess this is the final layer of pavement that they put down. A really nice benefit and surprise that we received is finding out that they moved the main part of the road further away from us and created a small private road in front of the house. This will provide more space and privacy in the long run. Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you again next year. Lisa

Fantastic Views, Home and Service

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are quite particular in our travels and this home exceeded our expectations. It is ideally located right off the main road, yet there is no real road noise. The views off the back of the house are beyond scenic and the backyard is beautiful with a fully fenced in area for pets. You get the best of both worlds - secluded backyard with amazing views and tranquility as well as all the restaurants, downtown and grocery stores being a few minutes drive.

The owner Lisa is extremely helpful and replies to questions promptly. The house itself is decorated with thought and the furniture is all very, very comfortable. The master up and master down made it ideal for this weekend getaway with my in-laws. We certainly hope to be return guests. Amazing in every way.

Incredible view but loud

  • 3 of 5

A beautiful home with an amazing view. The challenge with this place is the location is right off the main road. If you like silence, you cannot get that outside as you take in the view. The bird feeder was magical but the sound was different than I anticipated..

Owner's Response: I am sorry that the noise bothered you. Most of the time it is pretty quiet on the back porch and especially on the new beautiful stone patio where you can view Grandfather mountain and the beautiful panoramic views of the mountains. The town in house has the advantage of the views and the close proximity to the village. We are very pleased with the fact that they are mostly complete with the construction of this area of the road. They may still have had some equipment up there in the area and I wish I could have controlled that but I can't. We are working on building a new privacy sound controlling wall just as soon as we can to take care of any noise problems and I hope you will come back again when we get that complete. Please keep us in mind for your future travel to the area, and I will be happy to accommodate you at one of our other properties in the area as well. Just give me a call or a text. We have several other options that I can recommend.
