We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The rooms in the house and the pool are even nicer and larger than they appear on the VRBO website! And we couldn’t have asked for a better host! Esther went above and beyond in helping us plan our visit, including meeting us at the house for the check-in.

Great family stay

This was a lovely villa that was large, well stocked, and close to many activities. We were a group of 12 and stayed for 10 days. The huge pool was lovely. Thank you to our hosts!

A family holiday for 14 of us ranging from my mum, 87 and disabled to teenaged. The villa was perfect for us all. Esther and Nico were perfect, charming hosts. The villa is a short walk to a lovely selection of restaurants and beaches, and the bus to Chania old town stops outside the villa. Would definitely recommend this holiday villa and I look forward to returning.

Beautiful Villa in Kalamaki

We had a wonderful week at villa Asteri in Kalamaki. The villa owner was very helpful and spoke English so no problems with communication. We would suggest though that more shade/umbrellas should be provided around the swimming pool.

Everything you need for a great holiday!

With a family group of 13 we took both apartments at this villa. Plenty of space and a beautiful pool with children’s pool attached. Perfect for the six children aged 3-12. Plenty of utensils in the kitchens and a bbq which we used about five times over the two weeks

Wonderful, relaxing break

The villa is lovely and spacious. The kitchens and bathrooms were well-stocked with lots of unexpected extras-shampoo, foil, washing powder and so on. Our very generous hosts provided fresh fruit and veg most days and the Welcome Packs were best we’ve experienced anywhere. Chania is a charming town full of great restaurants but closer to home it here were also excellent eateries within 10 minutes walk. Highly recommend Villa Asteri !

Beautiful home with incredible location

We booked this house for a family reunion in Greece. We had 14 people and it was perfect. The home itself is beautiful and clean with an amazing pool. The location is a 10 minute walk to a beautiful, calm beach that is perfect for children. Esther is the perfect host and helped arrange transfers, tours and answered every question we had. You will not be disappointed staying here. The only bad thing was that we couldn't stay longer.

Perfekt bostad för många personer

Vi var 3 familjer som delade på huset, vi tillbringade mesta tiden kring polområdet , där det fanns både sol och skugga hela dagen. Buss till Chania gick precis utanför huset.

Fantastic villa with exceptional hosts

Villa Asteri was the perfect place to host our friends and family for a long 2-week vacation and the nostalgia from writing this review is unprecedented. Rooms were super clean, kitchen on both floors was very well equipped, and the pool was as calm and beautiful as in the pictures in addition to a jacuzzi in the small section on its right. Esther and Dimitri took great care of us making sure the villa was always clean and provided us with great advice on places to visit or eat at. There are nice sandy beaches close to the house. Old town center is a short 15 minute drive. The house is in a very calm neighborhood with a supermarket at walking distance nearby. Time passes really quickly in Chania so make sure you make the best out of it :)

Really nice villa with all the "home comforts"

lovely villa with all the necessary mod cons and home comforts, Esther & Dimitri (owners) could not have been any more helpful!! Ideally located to nearby bars (The Bamboo was our favourite) and the beach, 2 good supermarkets very close by. Chania is a lovely town abd not to far in a cab approx. 5km costing approx. 10 euros Would definetly visit again

A special birthday holiday

The holiday was more than we could have hoped for when my wife first had the idea, a special treat to celebrate her birthday. Three generations of the family (12 of us) from 3 to 70 years old. The villa was spacious and extremely well equipped, it was spotlessly clean when we arrived, it is well maintained and a credit to the owners. The pool was enjoyed by all of us - sufficient sunbeds and inflatables for the children to play with. We cannot thank Esther and Demetris enough for the generosity shown to us throughout the week, starting on arrival at 00.30 in the morning after a 3 hour flight delay to find hot food in the oven. The hospitality shown to us was absolutely first class. They were very thoughtful and made sure that our every need was catered for. So much kindness shown to us to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and we did, so much so, we will return. Would recommend this villa to anybody without reservation. Thank you Esther and Demetris.

Nice spacious villa with friendly owners

We had a great stay in villa asteri. It's a spacious villa with lots of privacy , Nice swimming pool, large garden , just 10 min driving from the old town of ghania. If you don't want to go to the old town,it's just 500 m walk from the beach and Some restaurants. You Will find a small supermarket 200 m away, and a very large one About 1,5 km away Villa is Very complete furnished including baby beds etc etc. Fresh drinking water from the tap is really great. If you need something additional, no problem. Everything can be arranged. just ask.

Great family vacation!

We were to families with 6 children from 2-11 years. We really loved the house and property. The house was large and clean, and the owners provided an excellent service to us. The best part was the large garden og two pools which are suitable for children at all ages.

Wonderful Villa Asteri

Our extended family had a wonderful week at your villa. A spacious, clean and modern villa with all the facilities one could hope for (the water purifier was a pleasant surprise as it meant we didn't have to carry water from the supermarket!). A very large pool, with a smaller pool/jaccuzi which was great for the children. Four tavernas as well as shops, supermarkets, beaches, all within easy walking distance of the villa, meant that the villa was ideally located. The centre of Chania was just a short bus ride away so no car was needed. Esther and her husband were wonderful hosts; the regular supply of apricots, oranges, grapefruits as well as jams and honey, were a most welcome bonus! A truly memorable week. John and Jan

a graet place for a large family vacation

We stayed at Villa Asteri for our week-long vacation this year as we do every couple of years - all 14 of us: grandparents, 3 daughters, their husbands and 7 grandchildren. We found the description of the villa accurate, the villa was immaculately clean (and was cleaned once during our stay); the owners very hospitable who did everything to attend all our needs and to make our stay memorable. Esther, the owner, guidance to places which we could tour was also very helpful. The large pool, the garden and the BBQ were all used by us on a daily basis. We also enjoyed the relative short distance to the sea. We have already recommended the place to some of our friends and will do so in the future. If there was a down side to the villa it is its location in a village that was not as beautiful as the village close to the villa we rented a couple of years ago – the village of Elunda on the eastern side of Crete. Villa Estari is definitely a place to go for a vacation of a large family!

Excellent stay at Villa Asteri

My family and our friends (4 adults 2 children) stayed at Villa Asteri (ground floor apartment) one week in the middle of May 2009. This was a fanstastic stay. The villa was perfect for us with two children of three years old; they loved the pool. We were lucky as the upper apartment was empty so we could have the whole yard and pool area for our selves. The Villa was in excellent standard, and we were pleased to see that the pictures didn’t lie. Kalamaki was just the perfect little village with some nice restaurants and bars and a good beach (sun chairs free of charge if you bought something from the beach bar). Esther was the perfect host and especially when giving us tips of trips – especially the mountain village restaurant she recommended (Picasa) was wonderful. We would definitely recommend a stay at Villa Asteri and we hope we could come back some day.
