Everything you can dream of to relax is at this house--beautiful waterfalls, rivers surrounding and inside the house, artistically designed indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a level adjusting BBQ (never cooked at better steak), gourmet designer kitchen, comfortable warm radiant floor heating, lovely private sauna, amazing steam shower and shower jet room, large Jacuzzi, claw foot bath tub, manicured gardens, and more! Nathan went out of his way to make sure that everything worked and that we had a great time in SLC. If you have a chance to book this house, take it! What a wonderful, relaxing experience.
We LOVED this house! There were a few of us staying for a conference downtown and this is house is just 1.5 miles from the convention center. There is a lovely two story waterfall you walk around on the way down to the house. Once inside every window has a great view and is completely private. We all loved the water feature inside the house as well. Everything was clean and there are tons of supplies in the kitchen. The master bath is stunning and we loved the hot tub. Nathan checked in on us throughout our stay and was very attentive to our needs. One of my best VRBO's yet!
We had a fantastic time at the waterfall house. Located very close to downtown Salt Lake, but in a quiet neighborhood. The house was designed by the artist owner who took the time to make sure we were settled in and knew how to use facilities including outdoor jacuzzi and dry sauna. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.
We were a little hesitant to stay downtown. For sure there would be noise and an old house. We were so surprised! Nathan has created an oasis in the hubbub of the city. The beautiful waterfall outside drowns out any noise in the surrounding area. A small waterfall continues in the house. They create a very peaceful and beautiful ambiance that truly felt like vacation to us. As the waterfall starts at street level and descends three sets of stairs (beware of bringing grandma here!) the house sits down in a valley between all the homes around it. This means when you are sitting outside in the hot tub, no one sees you! Want to stand under the waterfall? No one sees you! It is very private. The waterfall did attract the attention of a deer a few nights. He came down about sunset to drink and explore. If you don't make a ruckus, he will stay awhile.
The house itself is remodeled and done very well. We had a few gatherings and it is the perfect house for entertaining. With Viking appliances, it is a cook's dream. We were able to fit everyone in, and as the kitchen is the center of everything, people trickled into the dining room and living room, but were still part of the main conversation in the kitchen. There is a private bedroom/bathroom downstairs if someone wants to have true privacy. Otherwise, the master suite is completely open upstairs -- attached to the office listed as the third bed space if needed. This posed a challenge for us as we had no idea the rooms did not have doors upstairs. The person in the office is about twenty feet from you on the other side of a decorative half wall. We made it work out nicely, but it is something to be aware of if you are bringing guests.
Our only cause for concern, and it was minor, was the windows. None had screens on them. Downstairs had less air flow than upstairs (there is an air unit upstairs). The beautiful windows open like European style windows. Without a screen a few bugs came in, no big deal, but as we were on ground level, a friendly cat hopped in the house! We got him out and shut the windows, but it became hot again. We noticed in the closet there were screens, so we put them on the windows downstairs! Perfect fit and no more visitors! I am sure Nathan is in the process of doing this himself as we can see he is continually improving this property! It is beyond gorgeous, he is the perfect host (checks in on you via text a few times in the week), and this is a truly GREAT house! FIVE STARS!
Our family loved our stay in this unique and well kept home. We felt welcome and at home in this vacation property. Stocked and furnished with everything we may have needed.
We rented the Waterfall House to visit my partner's family for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I can't say enough great things about the property. The amazing water features (three(!) in all), the top-of-the-line Viking kitchen (with warming drawer for those of you who are avid cooks like myself), sauna, hot tub, privacy, fireplace, excellent layout, pet-friendly-ness, and central location make this home special in almost every way. It is truly one-of-a-kind and something we will never forget (and will most likely book for our future visits to Salt Lake). Nathan was an excellent host; he was immediately responsive for all messages and was incredibly professional and courteous. The property is so warm and comforting that we ended up hosting Thanksgiving dinner there instead of my mother-in-law's house, and everyone had a superb time. All in all, it is an absolutely stellar property, and Nathan clearly put an immense amount of thought into the design. There are only two very, very slight issues that I would mention. First, the floors have radiant heat, which is wonderful, but as a result it takes quite a long time to cool down, even with doors and windows open, so it was kind of difficult to manage temperature appropriately. We finally figured out how to make it work for us, but not until our last day there. Second, while the shower in the master bath is truly spectacular (steam shower, multiple jets from different angles, etc.), the temperature controls are not remotely accurate. This may not be an issue for people who really love hot showers, but for me (someone who runs very hot all the time and likes things cool), even the 'coldest' setting was far too hot. The temperature gauge on the handle said it was below 70 degrees, but a quick thermometer check put it at more than 105 degrees, so I didn't get to enjoy it. However, those two minor issues pale in comparison to the magnificence of the home. Two very, very big thumbs up.
Located in quiet, historic district (Marmalade Hill) in downtown Salt Lake City, walking distance (1 mile) from heart of the city, 1/2 mile from Memory Grove, City Creek Canyon (hiking and biking along a mountain stream). Quick direct access to freeway within 1/2 mile.
