Cozy and Unique: Handcrafted Cottage nestled in the Redwoods

Bedrooms 1
Space 500 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2-4

Welcome to The Cottage on Creekside Commons. This secluded getaway offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful, rural setting with an easy 10 minute drive (or 30 minute scenic bike ride) to both downtown Eureka and downtown Arcata. The cottage is ideal for 2 people and can accommodate 4 people.

The Cottage is a cozy and clean 1-bedroom retreat with handcrafted and artistic touches throughout. The sitting room can easily be turned into a second private bedroom for an additional two guests. Step outside the backdoor and into an enchanted redwood grove, enjoy fresh vegetables from our organic garden, luxuriate in the outdoor bath or spend an evening by the fire pit.

Creekside Commons is a beautiful jointly owned five acre retreat in the heart of the redwoods. Our goals include eliminating boundaries and pursuing common goals when possible. One goal we have in common is to be able to provide a healing and restful retreat for our guests. Whether you choose to stay at the Cottage, Cabin or Bungalow, we hope your stay with us is rejuvenating and adventuresome. When all three vacation rentals are rented, groups of 10-12 people can be accomodated. Please inquire directly by email if you are interested in the possibility of hosting a family reunion or retreat on Creekside Commons.

We are excited to be able to offer an on site massage therapist. Ryan Knotts has 9 years experience as a massage therapist and is trained in many massage/bodywork modalities including: Swedish techniques for those who want a relaxing massage that increases circulation and decreases stress, deep tissue/ therapeutic body work for those who have specific ailments, clothed body work and energy massage for those who prefer a stretching style or Reiki style massage and acupressure for those who prefer pressure point and meridian therapy. His focus is on listening to the body and breath, and finding ways to work with the client to exact real change in the muscles and overall health.

There's plenty to see and do in the area. Enjoy events such as the Kinetic Sculpture Race, North Country Fair, Film Festivals and weekly farmer's markets. Humboldt county has multiple wine tasting rooms and craft beers. Live music and theatre are cornerstones of Humboldt county culture. For the outdoor adventurer, enjoy the majestic redwood forests, guided birdwatching tours, miles of coastal beaches and sunny days at inland rivers.

Everything You Could Hope For!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place. The back room view into the forest is like stepping into a painting. The house was clean and well organized. The property was beautiful and in a great location if you are looking for some peace and serenity. We walked around the forest behind the property and it was as if the rest of the world went away. This being said, anything you may need was in a short driving distance. Such a wonderful getaway.

The cottage was lovely and everything we hoped it would be!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was lovely! Private and cozy. The fireplace was delightful and warmed the cabin perfectly. Best part - just flip a switch to turn it on - no fire building necessary! The kitchen was complete, including all utensils and wine and beer glasses. We cooked all of our meals here. The bed is comfortable and so are the chairs in front of the fireplace. The most surprising aspect was the delightful outside bathtub on the deck under the redwoods. I spent an hour in it just relaxing and sipping wine! The back of the cabin opens into old growth big trees that are spectacular. Caulder and Tanya are kind and welcoming. Even the dogs Zoey and Mazie are friendly. They played ball with our dog Bo! Steve and I would definitely stay here again. A perfect get away for a couple and their dog!

Treasure in the Redwoods

  • 5 of 5

If you are lucky enough to have found this little piece of heaven and you'd like to visit HSU, Redwood Nat'l Park, Prairie Creek State Park, Trinidad or countless other wonderful destinations in this area - you should grab this place quick before someone else rents it! We knew as soon as we pulled in that we'd found the perfect place - the hosts were so welcoming and all felt 'right'. We feel so fortunate to have been able to stay in this sweet cottage while visiting the majestic Redwood Parks and the coast. You'll have a very comfortable place stay that will have everything you need to relax, unwind and enjoy. The fully stocked kitchen was great and we made our meals and food for our hikes there, we relaxed at night in the comfortable twin chairs in front of the gas wood stove (very handy!) and after a long day, you'll have the perfect place to lay your head as they've provided a very comfortable bed, upgraded linens and a cozy comforter. The property feels very safe, perfect for everyone, couples, families, even for a single woman traveling alone. This place was wonderful in so many ways; the hosts were so kind and helpful (gave me fresh basil for the bruschetta I made!) and also gave us our privacy, you have a Redwood forest outside (!), just steps off the patio where you can enjoy breakfast and then maybe a little yoga in the woods if you like, we watched the antics of an Osprey family nesting at the top of the canopy! The property is a beautiful, short drive from Eureka or Arcada and we were able to reach the coast in 20 minutes and the Nat'l and State Parks in 45. We loved all the amazing hikes we had access to - Fern Canyon is not to be missed! We enjoyed the beautiful and artistic touches everywhere that made this cottage feel so sweet! We rent a lot of VRBO and Homeaway homes on our travels but had never been to this area so we feel so lucky we found this spot, definitely one of our favorites - we will be back!

Cozy cottage in the trees.

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful view from every window. I enjoyed the cool weather and the peace and quiet on the back patio. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage is quite comfortable. The BBQ grill on the back porch either needs a good cleaning or be replaced. The only other suggestion would be an outdoor receptacle for dog poo bags.

Thank you for sharing your cottage. Tesla and I will probably be back to escape the Redding heat.
