Loved it.!

  • 5 of 5

Great.!! It was a small, well maintained and nice place.

The heat was excellent, specially for the -24F cold weather outside.

We visited during the New year and all of us enjoyed our stay.

Quiet and relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

This property was close to everything, yet secluded and quiet. Everything you'd need for a relaxing weekend. Although we didn't do any skiing, it was a perfect view of the mountain and a 15 minute drive to Lake Placid and all the shops. The basics were provided in the kitchen. I would have like the bedding provided too, which only the blankets were. I'm not sure how often they are washed since all of the cleaning was up to the renters before leaving. No big deal since we brought our own.

I will say that the renter before me did not clean up after their dog outside. When I brought mine out to the tree that looks like you can hook a leash up too, I saw a couple piles of dog droppings that 100% did not come from mine. No fault to the owners though. I just don't want to be held responsible and lose my deposit.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and the question about the blankets. The blankets, mattress and pillow covers are machine washed every three to four months.

Mountain Cozy

  • 4 of 5

The chalet is exactly as described. It was clean, cozy, and perfect for a family of 3 with a couple small dogs. The kitchen was better appointed than we were expecting, with nice pots and pans to cook with. The range was small but worked just fine, even for our small thanksgiving dinner (cooked hens instead of turkey).

The TV was nice, with HD cable provided. A DVD player was also there and worked well. We brought our Wii, and that worked fine too. Wifi is also available and worked fine.

The location is fantastic - about 15 minutes out of Lake Placid and 5 minutes from the Whiteface Ski area.

The only problem we had was the complete lack of cell service (and the lack of a land line phone in case of an emergency). This wasn't just at the chalet, but the entire region. We also had trouble getting Wifi calling to work, so we ended up driving into town to make a call at one point (service was unavailable all the way until in the town proper). I guess this is the price of staying in the mountains, because clearly this would be a problem no matter where you are outside of town.

Owner and caretakers were friendly and responsive. We would definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: Cell service: Verizion has excellant cell phone service in the area and in the chalet. AT&T is spotty but acessed on the deck but not inside. I would recommend that vistors check online about their cell phone coverage area! Jesse

Perfect for a getaway in the high peaks!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to squeeze in one more weekend in the Adirondacks before winter closed in and this was perfect! Close to Lake Placid, but we stayed in Wilmington the entire weekend and enjoyed every minute. A lot of thought has been put into this place and it is perfectly set up for visitors. It had plenty of privacy, even being so close to Wilmington, great views, and I was really glad the internet worked so well since I had to do some work over the weekend. Very nice to be able to bring our dog with us, too! Thank you!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I could not have been happier with our stay in the chalet! It was clean, well decorated, and more than roomy. It was in a great area as it is close to Lake Placid and TONS of hikes and outdoor activities. We hiked Cascade Mountain and after an all day trek in the snow, sitting in front of the fireplace was all we could think about. Jesse and caretakers answered any and all questions we had. The chalet was on a quiet street, but we were still 15 minutes from Lake Placid restaurants/bar/Olympic training center! The beds were very comfortable and the heat was even turned on for us, which made our arrival warm and cozy! I would definitely stay here again!
