If you’re travelling to San Diego, why not experience California living at its finest? This beautiful, three bedroom, two bathroom open floor plan home sits on a large, peaceful canyon. And while you’ll feel like you’ve gotten away from it all, you’re just a short drive to all of San Diego’s famous attractions. 5 miles to San Diego Zoo; 10 miles to SeaWorld and Airport.

This unique home is a sanctuary for those seeking a peaceful escape from their hectic lives. The large patio has a prominent water feature that beckons you to relax and enjoy the view. Another patio is perfect for a quiet dinner, complete with BBQ grill and seating for four. As you venture into the hillside yard, you can unwind in the private hot tub while enjoying the lush landscaping that surrounds you.

There are large windows throughout, including five sets of French doors, that flood the house with natural light. The home remains private with gorgeous views to the canyon and landscaping.

The master suite has a queen sized bed, fireplace and spa-like master bathroom with walk around shower and large skylight. The front guest room has a king bed and the sun-room facing the canyon has a full-sized bed. There is also another queen bed in a small studio in the backyard (no bathroom). The home can accommodate 6-8 people throughout.

About Todd

I'm a custom residential architect who has lived in San Diego for 15 years and love this beautiful part of the country. Originally from the East Coast, I have adapted well to the laid back lifestyle of Southern California. I love this home as it blends beautifully with the canyon and lush tropical landscaping. I added an additional bedroom to the front in 2012 which dramatically changed the curb appeal and gave it the street presence you see today. I look forward to hosting you and know you will enjoy this private sanctuary as much as I have.

What makes this house unique

This home offers many unique features. The interiors were fashioned by a famous designer named Steven Chase. The home has an abundance of high-end finishes and surprising details like large industrial skylights, textured walls, French doors and numerous windows, recessed illuminated alcoves, mirrored walls, a spacious open floor plan, and under-cabinet lighting.

The grounds are private and from inside the home, the view drops below you into the canyon. The yard is filled with lush, tropical landscaping, a hot tub, deck, patio and a circular flow that blends with the welcoming feel of the home. There are multiple water features that contribute to the tranquillity of this Bali-like ambience.

While this home does not have A/C, there are only a few short weeks in the summer when it is typically needed (search for average temperatures during your stay and you'll see what we mean). San Diego's climate is semi-arid with typically low humidity so it doesn't feel as hot as it can in other parts of the country with higher humidity. That said, there are ceiling fans and portable fans for you to use, as well as a whole house fan that will pull the warm air out and cooler night air in. With this home being on a canyon, it also receives nice breezes.

Great home and great stay!

As a family of 7 it was our first time visiting the West Coast. This was a great home for us. Very spacious. My favorite room was the Master bedroom. The home was also very clean and the grounds were very beautifully kept. We visited San Diego this past July and it was unusually hot and humid - per the San Diegans. The home doesn't have AC. It wasn't too much of a big deal because we were out and about all day. Plus it always cooled down nicely in the evenings so it wasn't too bad.

The location was good. About a 15 min drive to major attractions. We also felt very safe in the neighborhood.

The property manager was also very helpful and super responsive. Overall we didn't have any major complaints and would recommend this home to fellow travelers.

So relaxing and a beautiful home

I can’t tell you enough how beautifully decorated this home is inside and out. We were here with our daughter and son-in-law and four for babies. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee every morning outside. Every night after we would come home from our daily activities we would go outside and have a beer or glass of wine. The puppies enjoyed strolling around the beautiful yard. The fountain that is outside is lovely as I love the sound of water to help me relax Everywhere we went was easy to go to. Be careful not to come home during rush hour or it will take you a lot longer.

If you want to go to Walmart or target don’t go to the closest one. We felt the area looked a little rough. Three blocks away there was a helicopter above a house asking the people to come out with their hands up. My son-in-law went over there to find out what was going on and the police said there was a guy running around with a gun trying to get away. Just make sure you know which way to go when you leave the house. Go to the stores off the I-8. It’s a short drive away from the house.

Randy was very welcoming and gave us many suggestions for eating out. They even have food trucks in the small but very nice neighborhood once a week. Watch for signs. Sometimes it’s right next to the house.

Just a few things that were a disappointment but nothing that would stop us from renting this house again but worth mentioning. The outdoor umbrella is torn and could use a new one. The ottoman outside does not have a cushion anymore. The guest house has different outside furniture than is in the picture and it is very uncomfortable. Two wood lounge chairs could use thicker cushions because they are very hard. One last thing was they were no bowls with lids. I mention that to Randy so hopefully the home has them now.

This house was perfect for our family! The owner ensured we had everything we needed and even checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the wonderful patio area each evening to relax from a busy day! I definitely recommend this property if you are in the San Diego area!

Stunning home in quiet, yet accessible neighborhood

My husband, mother, poodle and I stayed in this wonderful home for 4 nights in early was not nearly enough time! The home is incredibly comfortable with unique and private destinations around the property. We make many visits to San Diego throughout the course of a year, but typically do not spend much time in the homes we rent; THIS home we did not want to leave. From waking up to a beautiful canyon view in the Jacuzzi spa each morning, to cooking in the well appointed kitchen, to sitting and reading or watching t.v. in front of the fire in the living room, to sleeping in the most comfortable beds we've slept in in quite awhile, our entire experience in this home was superb.

We highly recommend this property and looking forward to staying here again in the near future.

If extra fees are incurred during the transaction for use of an international credit card, those fees will be deducted from the deposit after the stay.

A note about damage protection: We ask our guests to purchase the insurance coverage to cover damage to any items over $500. We ask for a $500 deposit to cover items under that amount.

We charge per guest so please be sure you have accounted for the number of guests properly in your reservation.

If you have requested to bring a pet, we charge $20 per night/per animal for pets and an additional $250 on the deposit.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
