There are many wonderful things to say about this apartment and about L'Isle sur la Sorgue. We used the town as a base to explore other places in Provence, and it worked very well for that since it is centrally located for what we wanted to do. It was easy to park our car in the lot nearby. We drove to the apartment twice, to unload and at the end of our stay, to load. I'm a little nervous driving in such narrow streets but it was fine.
The town itself is totally charming. I'm so glad we stayed there. The two markets, on Sunday and Thursday, are amazing for crafts, produce, meats, seafood, people watching, and browsing. They take place just outside the apartment and all around. Restaurants are delish and romantic. The river which runs all through the town is lovely. Shops are fun, people are friendly. I loved going out each morning to get the day's bread and discovering which place is best. (Turn right out the front door, to the first street on the right, go beyond the Carrfour grocery store to the first bakery on the right.)
The apartment is right on the central square across from the main church. The location is pefect. Cafe France, the bistro a few doors down is fun for sipping, sitting and watching. Eric is a great landlord. He met us when we arrived and took time to explain everything and make recommendations. He was available when we called with a question a few days later. We had to leave early the last morning so he came by the night before, which made things easier for us.
I expected that there would be noise from people in the square, but there really isn't. The only noise that bothered me was the sound of the trash crew early some mornings but that's soon over. The apartment is one flight up, and is itself on three floors. This is was no problem at all for us but would be for anyone who has trouble with stairs. Also there isn't really a shower. It's a tub with a handheld spray. Again, that was not a problem for us.
I highly recommend the town, and I highly recommend the apartment. It's clean, well appointed, central and plenty big. I especially enjoyed opening the living room window while eating breakfast and enjoying the breeze and the gentle sounds of the square. I'd love to return and stay there again.
