About Carolyn Prator

My family loved the cabin on the lake but my two children have moved to other areas and we no longer use it often. So put Better Knott on rental market so others could have a great family experience at the Lake. I live in Shreveport on a lake with boating so don't get down there often. But love the secluded nature and steep hills on the lake. It is hard to believe this is Louisiana!

Carolyn Prator purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Carolyn Prator chose Toledo Bend Lake

My son is an avid fisherman who now fishes on the FLW trail. We bought our cabin because of the outstanding fishing on Toledo and the midlake location where he could fish many tournaments. Also where much of the lake is not good for skiing or swimming because of the stumps, Lanan Bay (where Better Knott is located) always has deep water for both. But also very large bay with very limited boat traffic. An ideal spot. Numerous steps lead down to dock from cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

Sitting in one of the rockers or the recliners with coffee or a sunset cocktail is a peaceful and relaxing experience. A great place for family memories.

Quite a leap up from a fish camp!! Beautiful sunsets

  • 5 of 5

Everything was pretty much as advertised. Clean, cozy & very tastefully decorated. First place I have ever stayed that I wasn't ready to go home.

The boat lift works great. We had a wonderful time. Mornings & evenings on the open balcony were spectacular

Carpeted throughout except for kitchen. If you have dogs that could be an issue. Ours did exceptionally well.

Natchitoches is less than an hour away for great food & some shopping.

A very good Lakehouse

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and comfortable. The three bedrooms gave every one their own space. The boat dock with lift worked really well, as so did the cleaning table. The location was excellent. Everything you need is very close, good food, grocery store, gas and tackle. We had a great time. Thanks very much.

Cozy, comfortable and roomy lake house

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable, nicely decorated with a great covered porch. Intermittent showers proved no problem with covered porch and boat house. Being covered allowed us to take an afternoon cookout with ribs, duck and deer sausage and pork jambalaya under the roof without any problem. Saved the day. Nice boat shed w lift. Kids swam, adults sat around boat shed and chatted. Roof provided cover when the showers would come. My wife and adult kids really enjoyed it. Ms. Prator, your information was spot on and a great help. We will be calling you again.

Wonderful place on the lake

  • 5 of 5

The house has all the amenities one could ask for a comfortable stay. We used only the master bedroom on the main floor of the house which has a very nice king-sized bed and plenty of room. The kitchen and living area were also spacious and well furnished. We especially enjoyed the wonderful deck while sitting in the rocking chairs. We also sat on the dock every evening to watch the sunsets. The house is in woods on a dead end street so it was very quiet. The gardenias were blooming which was a treat.

The house is located close enough to really good restaurants on highway 6 and we ate out for several meals.

We had a marvelous time and hope to be back.

Map

Have a fish fry with bass, crappie, or catfish caught off the lighted dock, which also has a boat lift. Water skiing, boating and swimming are all great also from the pier.

Wooded rural roads are great for walking with abundant wildlife. For golfing, hiking trails, beach and restaurant, Cypress Bend State Park is minutes away. Cabin location is centrally located on lake close to the San Miguel and Cypress Bend launches, where many fishing tournaments occur.

Charming Natchitoches with antique shops on its brick streets on the Cane River is a short drive, and known for its spectacular Christmas lights.
