About Judy Teson Duncan

We grew up in the midwest, and careers brought us to the Bay Area. Our 'fast paced' careers in Information Technology, left us exhaused by the weekend. We were looking for a getaway, that was within a few hours of our primary home, yet away from the crowds, bringing us back to our 'childhood' way of life. This home is perfect, we enjoy it with family and friends. The Rose Gardens are very special, and were created by my sister Joyce. We hope to create even more family memories in this home, and hope that you will also enjoy many good times with your loved ones, making our home, 'Your Home' away from home.

Judy Teson Duncan purchased this house in 2001

Why Judy Teson Duncan chose Soulsbyville

My Grandfather, Dave Whiteside, was an oiler for Missouri Pacific Rail, in the very early years of the rail. We have always enjoyed hearing the stories of the building of the rail systems, and the history is fascinating. Railtown 1897 State Historical Park in Jamestown, caught our interest, and my sister, Joyce, first moved to this home, and became a docent for Railtown. We all came to love the area, and upon her passing, decided to make this our second home. There is so much history in this area, things that will be forgotten, and our children risk the chance of ever really witnessing this history. The 'Motherlode' is a huge part of California history. The beauty of this area, is amazing. People come from all over the world to visit Yosemite. Here it is, in our back yard..get an early start,.and make it a day trip. Something for everyone here in the Motherlode, from water sports in summer, to snow sports in the winter, all within an hour commute. And now the Black Oak Casino, 5 miles away, adding a totally new dimension to the fun to be enjoyed by the entire family. My grandchildren love the bowling alley, and game arcade, while mom and dad enjoy the 5 star restaurant, 'Seven Sisters'. The town of Murphy's is often tauted as the 'new' wine country, and a treat to visit and go wine tasting. My husband loves the local golf courses around the area, and I simply enjoy it all! We hope that you will also enjoy your visit to the 'Motherlode'.

What makes this house unique

Few destinations can offer the diversity of the 'Motherlode'. Where else can you ski Dodge Ridge in the morning, and play golf in the afternoon....or take a day trip to Yosemite....or picnic, swim and paddleboat at Pinecrest Lake, or "Be the BIG Winner" at Black Oak Casino, and take in a 5 star dinner and a show,...all convenient to the home. There is something for everyone in the 'Motherlode'

Great house!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend in the Sonora area. This house was perfect for our needs! It is beautifully decorated, updated and has everything you can possibly need, I mean they literally thought of everything! It was a perfect home base for our exploring the area. Close to Twain Heart, Pinecrest, Dodge Ridge, Sonora and even the Black Oak Casino but we also looked forward to getting back to this cozy home. There is a park and small pond right across the street that we enjoyed taking the dogs to. We would definitely come back to this house again!!

Great Base for Exploring and Place to Relax

  • 5 of 5

My college-age son and I stayed four nights in Willow Springs "Joy" this past weekend (August 2017). Judy's home was perfect for us. We used it as a base for some exploring from the Red Hills Area of Ecological Concern to Pinecrest Lake and over Sonora Pass to Mono Lake and back via Tioga Pass and Yosemite. We hiked at each location including Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite; the scenery was spectacular. We also took time to relax. I enjoyed coffee and a book on the deck each morning; I finished one book and am over half way through a second (reading time is a rarity for me of late). My son enjoyed the excellent internet access. Willow Springs "Joy" is immaculate and well appointed, has lots of room, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The washing machine and dryer were a plus. Thank you, Judy, for sharing your home with us. Karen

Has everything you need!

  • 4 of 5

It was spacious, looks newly renovated and everything was pretty clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook during our stay. The only issue we had was with the ants. Once we arrived, there were ants all over the kitchen sink. And it only got worse from there. Overall the place was great.

Owner's Response: Dear Alexandra I am sorry to here about the issue with the ants. We have had very warm weather in the past few weeks, and I think this is when the problem started. We have our team working on the issue, and hope to have this resolved soon. Sincerely, Judy Duncan

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Great house - welcoming owner. Everything was as advertised. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to vacation in the area. It's a bit of a drive to Yosemite - which where we wanted to visit during our stay - but its a really fantastic drive with winding roads, so if you enjoy driving along steep mountainous terrain, then its a bonus.
