About Mike Rotman

Born on the east coast now living in California- I missed the quiet calm of a snow storm. I work with dog and cat rescues and am also a comedy writer who needed a break now and then and a place to come up and think and take my dog Ulfie for long walks in the fresh air (Despite his little corgi legs)

Mike Rotman purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Mike Rotman chose Moonridge

I always dreamed of a get away cabin, a place I can go and write and relax. After saving my money for a long time and searching for over a year- I finally found the perfect place, Milo Bear Cabin in Lower Moonridge. I love this area as it's not houses on top of each other with chain link fences. This is much more quiet and a good mixture of full and part time residents. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

What makes this cabin unique

The cozy authenticates of a log cabin with modern amenities. I can feel like I'm a pioneer while still logging in to check my Facebook posts. :)

Gorgeous views: Snow Summit from the huge elevated private deck. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit from the living room and master bedroom. Snow Summit from the 2nd bedroom.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My friends and I had an amazing girls weekend at Mike's cabin! It was even better than the photos! We were lucky enough to get some snow which was an incredible experience for me as I had never seen it. Not only was Mike's cabin clean and cosy but Mike was the best host we have had while being here in the States for 5 months. He was quick to answer all our questions and had the most detailed and helpful instructions. We absolutely loved Big Bear and our stay in the cabin and would highly recommend staying to all!

Absolutely impressed!!! Loved loved loved this cabin! We will be back!!!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cabin for the first time and I'll admit I was nervous about the unknown and being very OCD made it even worse lol. When we arrived I couldn't believe how perfect it was! From the fun and cozy decor, super comfy bed (it was just my husband and I), fully stocked kitchen, flat screen tv, great living room, jacuzzi, beautiful views and so on. We also brought our dog Milo and I'll admit, I have stayed in places that take dogs before and have been disappointed. There wasn't a dog hair, piece of dust or cob web in the place! Whoever cleans this cabin is wonderful! The deck is totally locked and the lower part of the yard perfect for our dog to run around while we sat and sipped our coffee in the morning. The neighborhood is in a very nice area of Big Bear close to everything and very very quiet. The owner answered all our questions fast and even gave us heads up of traffic going down the mountain as we left!! We already are planning our next trip(with the kids)! Thanks Mike for everything!

OMG It's Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at many different locations while visiting Big Bear and upon Arrival at Milo Cabin, we made an immediate decision.......This is going to be our go to cabin for future Big Bear Trips! It's a charming cozy cabin with everything you need for a fun and fabulous stay! We stayed 3 Nights and 4 days! Inside it's like Abercrombie and Fitch crossed with the Country setting of Big Bear. It's clean, and well maintained inside and out. Outside is a tranquilizer, seriously, it's like OMG, I'm suddenly so calm. We had so many things to do on our agenda, but we made sure we spent time on the lovely deck at Milo Cabin. On our last night we picked up Pizza from Saucey Mama's (located in The Village) Awesome Pizza........and indulged in a Fabulous Sunset, paired with a glass of Wine and Lemonade for our teenager, and this made for the perfect night in! During our stay, we also enjoyed hiking Cougar Crest Trail connecting to the PCT, Pacific Crest Trail, total hike distance 6.7 miles, but could have gone way further into the PCT had time permitted. We also headed over to the Authentic Ocktoberfest and enjoyed German food, music and dancing. My husband enjoyed cycling to the ONYX Summit and back, while I enjoyed an 8 station outdoor workout facility at the Sugarloaf Skatepark where our teenager son enjoyed riding his scooter. Now, this is not an actual facility, it's part of the park, but hey, you work with what you've got, right? And it was outdoors and free! We also hit up Shopping at The Village, a must for anyone visiting Big Bear. Dinner at 572 Social was another fun evening out. If you want great food......go there, we highly recommend the Bruschetta and Caprese......for starters! For dinner, Miso Glazed Salmon, or Ahi Tuna Steak....wooo whoooo! When not out eating, shopping or relaxing at the cabin, we ran along the Big Bear Lake Trail with amazing views of the lake and forest on a mostly paved trail intertwining with dirt trail makes this 5 mile out and back run/hike/bike/walk perfect! While not out and about in Big Bear, you can hang out at the cabin playing one of the many games, we went with "Connect 4" while eating the freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookies we made at Milo Cabin. Sounds awesome, doesn't it? It was! We look forward to our next Big Bear adventure and stay at Milo Cabin. Oh, and one more thing, the owner Mike is excellent at managing his cabin. Thanks for everything!

Cozy Cabin with Great Deck

  • 5 of 5

Cabin is very cozy and definitely gives you that mountain feel. I brought my two French Bulldogs and they sunbathed on the deck most of the day and curled up next to the wood burning fireplace at night. Great place to getaway!

Rare Place Leaving That "I Truly Got Away" Feeling

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't stay away from the Deck. Relaxing on the lounge chair with a book or pen in hand while looking at the beautiful mountain views melted away my big city blues. I ate on the umbrella table every chance I could. My family and I loved the hot tub. Whether taking in a sunset or catching a shooting star, the spa was always a perfect cap to a day. It was very quiet and I highly recommend it as a place to unwind and unplug. The option to stream our favorite HBO shows on TV, songs and music on Pandora, etc. were a fun perk as well. Plus, we felt really good seeing our dog not missing a beat in the pet-friendly Cabin. Thank you again Mike for setting us up for a wonderful stay and being gracious throughout the whole process. We hope to come back again real soon.

A nice property

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is conveniently located within a short drive for fishing, shopping, etc. The decor is mountain rustic but has all the conveniences you will need. The king bed upstairs is the only one we used and is very comfortable. We were there during warm weather and the fans provided were much appreciated. The box fan in the window kept the room temperature very comfortable. The area is quiet and the cabin has a nice deck with a jacuzzi to relax in. We travel with our older dog so we appreciate being able to rent pet friendly homes. The owner, Mike, is quick to answer emails and texts. We had a concern upon arriving but he quickly made arrangements for the issue to be resolved. Both he and the person he sent out were very courteous. We had no further issues the rest of our visit and all went smoothly. We would definitely stay here again.

Put your bike on a ski lift and go all the way to the top and then ride down one of 3 different bike trails. For a more leisurely pace, there is a great flat bike path by the Discovery Center that goes around the scenic lake.

And don’t forget about your dog! The forests surrounding Big Bear Lake offer trails for hikers and walkers at all skill levels. For the adventurous, high peaks offer 360 degree panoramas. Snow Summit's Sky Chair can easily take you to the top so you can hike down while enjoying spectacular scenic vistas that include superb views of Big Bear Lake and deep forests. Or just walk around our neighborhood and see all the beautiful surrounding cabins, chalets and 100 foot pine trees.
