Built by owner Scot Kurth for my family. We enjoyed the privacy, seclusion and tranquility for 15 years. The only reason that we have moved is for school for our two boys. It is, and will always be Home.
Scot Kurth purchased this house in 1999
We choose to build here because I grew up on Andros since 1965 and wanted to share it's Natural Environment and beauty with my family. It is a wonderful place to grow up or visit, surrounded by nature and the ocean. With the renewable energy system, I wanted to show what sustainability looks like and how well it works.
The tranquility is unsurpassed. You wake in the morning to the sound of the Ocean lapping at the shore and to the birds chirping. You can enjoy knowing that the house operates on a zero carbon footprint.
Bonefish Bay was the perfect prescription for this busy family of 6! We have children ages 6, 8, 14, and 16...all at different schools and in multiple extracurricular activities. This beach house provided us the perfect place to relax and re-connect. The property was exactly as it was portrayed online. Scot, the owner, was so gracious and he was available for us to call with any concerns or questions throughout our entire stay. The house is located directly on the beach of bonefish bay, and there are NO neighbors. We saw an occasional fisherman or local collecting conchs from the bay. Otherwise, total seclusion. WE LOVED IT! The house offered all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay, and it was well supplied with all the extras like detergent, dish soap, and paper products. Scot prepared us prior to our arrival with helpful information about what needed to bring, and fun activities to incorporate into our vacation while we were visiting. All of the kids found fun activities to entertain themselves. It was nice to see them enjoy the outdoors and play until they were exhausted! There were four kayaks, a canoe, and wind boards/paddle boards for us to use and enjoy. The locals on the island were all very friendly and helpful when we had questions. It was a wonderful week at Bonefish Bay. We will definitely consider re-visiting!
We recently stayed at Bonefish Bay and had an amazing time. We had 5 adults and 2 small children (ages 2 and 4). The house sits far off the main road on a beautiful private bay/flat. At low tide the water is incredibly calm, some of the flat dries out and other areas are only knee deep more than 100 yards offshore allowing our children (even our 2 year old) to safely walk and explore-fish, crabs, conch, starfish. At high tide much of the area is still only knee to waist deep and we canoed and kayaked (all available with plenty of life jackets on the property). We fished the flats a few days and saw smalls schools of bones, sometimes tailing within site and easy wading distance of the house-for more serious fishing we went out with guides.
The house itself was very comfortable and functions very well as a beach house for a group or family-4 big bedrooms, 3 large baths, fully stocked kitchen, grill, screen porch with a hammock (we went in February and there were very few insects), working wifi, plenty of hot water etc. The closest town-Fresh Creek is pretty quiet ( a few restaurants and a few markets for essentials) so the full kitchen allowed us to cook most of our meals in-which made for a completely relaxing time.
Perhaps most of all the owner Scot was incredibly helpful and available (he seems to know everyone in Fresh Creek and on Andros-at customs they said-"Oh you're staying at Scotty's house") in putting us in touch with great fishing guides, dive operators, tips on who to call for fresh seafood, what days the boats bring in groceries, and having great local people to meet us at the airport and answer any questions about the property.
Overall we had an amazing time and are hoping to make this a frequent trip for our family.
I recently stayed at the house with my family, 8 people total, and we had an amazing time. The people of Andros are so friendly and helpful. Scot's house is awesome! Also, Scot was super helpful. He even purchased a pack n' play so I didn't have to bring one for our stay. The house has all the amenities you need and your own private beach! There are kayaks, various boats, beach toys and more.
The house is is spacious, clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with great cooking equipment. It allowed us to cook amazing daily meals. I highly recommend this house for families who enjoy relaxing, enjoying the water and are looking for a low key vacation.
In December 2012 I was bonefishing in Youngs Sound when I spotted Bonefish Bay while wading. I said to my guide "that looks like a sweet spot!" When it came up for rent we rented it right away and stayed there for 2 months (December 2014 and January 2015)...and it is a sweet spot! If you like a quiet and peaceful place, with unbelievable privacy, fishing of all sorts and conching, shelling etc... all at a beautiful home with all the amenities, this is it!
