About Toni Baumgartner, Hen 1

Hello, we are sisters Terri, Tamara (Susan), Tricia and Toni who were fondly given the title 'The 4 Hens' by our younger brothers Tim and Tom. We grew up in this house and purchased it with our Roosters (husbands Chuck, Randy & Jeremy) from our Dad John in 2009.

Toni Baumgartner, Hen 1 purchased this house in 1963

Why Toni Baumgartner, Hen 1 chose Olivia

Our Great Grandmother owned this house and our parents purchased it in 1963. Our mother PollyMom loved this house and had many fond memories of the home as a child. The beautiful oak floors, wood pocket doors, maids stairway, sunny mornings in the front porch, art projects on the large table or piano music filling the home, we enjoyed it all.

What makes this house unique

Relax and enjoy the peacefulness of our home, comfy new beds, patchwork quilts, a soaking tub, flames in the fireplace and a large yard welcome you.

Stayed here for a girls crafting weekend. 3 generations of women had a great time in a beautiful home in a quaint town. Comfortable and convenient. This family had a great time!

Beautiful home but with a few issues

  • 3 of 5

The place looked very charming on the listing and indeed it is but we weren't really ready for the issues inherent in an older house. Due to the warm weather, there were tons of Asian beetles and box elders inside the house so we spent time vacuuming them up each night. One night, there was a bat in the house. The owners came over right away to deal with it though. I don't fault the owners at all for this - its just what happens with nature and an older house. I'm only including in the review so that others are aware. There is some leaky plumbing in the upstairs bathroom that we needed to keep wiping up. The kitchen has some paper products but not much else, so you may want to bring dishes, glasses etc.

The owners are really delightful and accommodating. We were met at the house and given a tour so we knew where everything was and how it all worked.

The house is well set up for crafters (which we aren't) with several long tables set up in a couple of rooms. The gas fireplace is delightful as is the front porch. That was a great place to sit and chat and watch a passing thunderstorm.

It is a charming home with a lot of character. Just come prepared.

Owner's Response: So glad to read you enjoyed your time together! Our sincere apologies for Mother Nature. 2017 has been an exceptionally wet year in Olivia and produced a host of Asian beetles and box elders. We believe in keeping a clean, healthy home for our guests, so don't use a lot of toxic chemicals that would cause harm. Living next to the beautiful, famous St. Aloysius Church with a bell tower a bat is not surprising, however, we’ve not had a bat in years so were surprised. The plumbing was a simple fix and due to the strict rules of our County, we are not licensed for a commercial kitchen hence the sparse supplies. While we can’t control some of these, we are very sorry for the inconveniences.

Guys Poker Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time playing cards all weekend. The house was nice and big, with plenty of room for all of us. The location was within walking distance of the grocery store and a couple convenience stores. The owner met us promptly and check in was easy. Not to mention that the nice padded chairs made this certainly our most comfortable poker weekend ever!

Clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The quaint but elegant house was so clean. The bedding and mattresses were very comfortable. We were directly across the street from the Catholic Church which played beautiful chimes. The neighborhood was quiet, friendly with a market and restaurants within walking distance. We traveled the back roads by motorcycle and saw beautiful and historic places. Toni was a very gracious hostess. Do go to eat at the Back Forty!

Lovely Home and Owners!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very pleasant at the 4 Hens! The owners were available and accommodating and the house location was great!

We had a family gathering in Olivia, and the layout and size of the house was great for a mixed families with plenty of space to relax and sleep.

There were a few little glitches, and the beds were a little squeaky, but the owners were immediately responsive, helpful, and accommodating! I could not have asked for more attentive customer service.

Looking forward to our next stay!

Thank you 4 Hens!

Great place for a group craft retreat.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The crafting space is great, with comfortable office-type chairs and lots of light. There were four of us and it was really nice that we were each able to have our own bedroom.
