About Mahesh

I am originally from Chicago but have lived in the Phoenix - Scottsdale area since college. We enjoy an active lifestyle of travelling, hiking, biking, and snowshoeing the trails behind the cabin as well as snow boarding and cross country skiing at the nearby ski resort. Most of our free time over the last couple of years has been taken up on our renovation of the A- Frame using sustainable building practices. Materials were 0 VOC bio based non toxic coatings that we manufacture and salvaged locally sourced Ponderosa Pine, recycled doors, windows, furniture, and fixtures. All three of us (including the dog) have allergies so we try to keep the cabin as dust and allergen free as possible. We find it rewarding to help bring families and friends together from all over the world to enjoy the wonders of Flagstaff and to share the living experience in our cabin. A portion of your homestay fee helps support Flagstaff Family Food Center, Food Bank and Kitchen.

Mahesh purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Mahesh chose Canyon Country & Northeast

The property is a great mix of a peaceful rural area with great vistas but 10 minutes from the excitement of a vibrant mountain town and is one of the highest in the country at 7,000 feet in elevation. The summers are warm but not hot like the central Arizona desert. Be prepared for warm summer days (average high is 78 degrees) and chilly nights (average low is 42 degrees)

What makes this cabin unique

A very quiet secluded country setting with great views of the mountains and in the midst of the world’s largest Ponderosa Pine forest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just felt in love with this beautiful A-frame cabin!!! Definitely a 5-star plus experience. Everything was just great: the cabin with its rustic, nifty and sophisticated charm, each lovely detail, chic and puristic, just as made for this cabin and its shape. All 3 terraces are totally amazing and have great views into the forest where the cabin is practically embedded in- we loved spending the quite relaxed hours on the large and lovely furnitured back terrace enjoying watching the wildlife, the stars, the sunset...The cabin has an absolutely awesome location: just few very quiet neighbors, directly at the forest but just a few minutes drive away from great supermarket, next Starbucks and cute and vibrant small downtown of Flagstaff with all its nice nifty restaurants and stores. The Sunday market is a must-visit and the restaurant tips of Mahesh are just great: we discovered our both number 2 burger and BBQ in the US! ( carefully voted during many years traveling across USA by Maria and Björn :-)). The A-frame is totally comfortable, no wish remains unfulfilled, very nice bathroom and shower with a window into the forest, everything is absolutely clean, the kitchen is better equipped than in our own home, we couldn't miss anything. We loved the wood oven and spent great cosy hours by the fire in the evenings...The bedroom is totally cute and comfy, with the view into the forest, with plenty of nice linens, towels and blankets. Mahesh is absolutely great host, the cabin felt like home after 15 minutes we entered it. We had a lot of excursion plans for our stay and have cancelled almost all because we didn't want to leave this wonderful cabin and felt that we will not feel better and more relaxed anywhere :-) We were rewarded by numerous visits of bunnies, jackrabbits, birds, etc. This cabin was an absolutely perfect experience that touched our hearts - we left feeling that we would rather prolong our stay and hoping to come back one day. One of our most favorite home-away-from-home locations.

Beautiful views, cozy and comfortable living quarters, and a peaceful getaway worth every penny. We enjoyed our stay so much we are already planning the next one. Everything we needed was available to us and the scenery-we couldn't get enough. It was perfect.

Excellent Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location. Gorgeous view of the San Francisco Peaks right from the living room. If it weren't the terrible wind, it would be a perfect getaway.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the A-Frame for 5 days in April. The cabin was perfect. The views out the front and back were beautiful. It was the perfect chance to relax, unplug, and reconnect. Even our dog gave it 5 stars!!

Cozy

  • 4 of 5

We loved this cozy A-frame. It was a perfect place landing place between our adventures in Page and the Grand Canyon. The wood-burning stove was a treat after driving through a blizzard on the South Rim. We were so busy exploring and hiking we didn't have a chance to drink the wine left for us. Thank you Mahesh and Mona!

Cozy hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Extremely convenient for travel to the Grand Canyon. Slept like a rock in the bed. Love the Ben Franklin wood stove during the chilly nights.
