Beach cottage at end of quiet street offers a peaceful beach getaway.
At the end of a quiet lane, just steps from the beach, our cottage is close to all this amazing neighborhood has to offer, yet secluded enough to provide the perfect spot for a quiet vacation. Our home is family friendly and we will consider pets.
This sun filled cottage offers 2 1/2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a front and back deck, a grill and a large yard.
Spend the day at the beach, get goodies at Scratch, dessert at Scoops Ice Cream. Stroll to local restaurants for dinner: David's, Joes Boat House, Salt Water Grill, Elsemere BBQ, Thai Taste, Enios, walk the quaint neighborhood streets and come back to the Myrtle Lane cottage for the rest of the evening.

About Stephanie Cooke
Our family has lived in the Willard neighborhood for ten years. We love this place! It is a family friendly, walk-able, quaint and a welcoming place that is a treat to live in.

Why Stephanie Cooke chose Willard Beach
We find the Myrtle Lane Cottage so special because of the location. It is so quiet! Being at the end of a tiny dead-end street 200 yards from the beach-- it is a perfect vacation spot.

Location the beach was amazing!! It was also super convenient to downtown Portland.
This was an overall great property. 5 of us stayed and it was plenty of space. I was the solo traveler and the ‘nook’ space was perfect. It is just a twin bed and a small shelf but there was space right outside the door for my suitcase, so really what else do you need?!?
Upon arrival, we realized we didn’t have enough towels for the number of people but a quick text to Stephanie resulted in her dropping off more that very day.
We ventured into Portland each day to sample lobster, oysters and the numerous microbreweries in town—what a great little City!!! We even took the ferry boat over to Peaks Island. You really only need a couple hours there. There’s not much to do but take in the scenery, but it’s well worth it. We didn’t reserve a golf cart in advance and got lucky, probably based on the time of year. If you’re there high season, I’d definitely recommend reserving well in advance because it really was a great way to see the island.
Stephanie’s recommendations for restaurants were spot on as well!!
very small property
booked this house w/out watching details, very small property but good photos, looks like plenty of space, 1 step x2 steps place is booked as .5 bedroom
Cute, comfy, great location
We stayed in the house with 4 adults and two children under the age of 6. Queen sized beds would've made sleeping a bit more comfy for the adults, but the boys enjoyed trading off the cute twin bed in the nook at the top of the stairs. Although the pull-out couch is listed as a sleeping option, it is not the most comfortable. Despite cozy sleeping conditions, the location of the house was wonderful. Just a quick 2 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to a delicious bakery, Scratch. The owners made sure we were comfortable and settled in and graciously shared documents about places to go and eat before we arrived. The house was stocked with linens, bath towels, and beach towels. They also had some beach toys and chairs available for use. The living and dining space was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. If you have older adults or young children, the steep stairs leading up to the bedrooms could be an issue. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and appreciate the owners' responsiveness. We look forward to another visit in the future.
We so enjoyed hosting you guys and so glad you had a great vacation. We also really love the location of the cottage. Just want to clarify for future potential guests that one bedroom does have a queen sized bed, and the other bedroom is a full sized bed. Sorry the pull out sleeping sofa isn't the most comfy, I wish they could improve on that technology! We will get a foam mattress topper to help with that. All the best to you, Erinn!
Absolutely wonderful place, with fabulous hosts, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We traveled with a three-year-old, and she loved it too. There is a third, small bedroom that was perfect for a kid, and there were beach toys and beach chairs in the basement too. The beach was a very short walk from the house. There were also lots of good sites to see within a quick and easy driving distance, including most of downtown Portland, lighthouses, etc.
Clean, Quiet Beach Cottage
We had a wonderful time at this clean bright beach cottage. The bedroom mattresses were amazing...my husband wanted to trade ours for theirs! Flowers were on the table with a personalized note (our hostess gets an A for communication) when we arrived. The property was quiet, at the end of a street with a shady lawn and porch. We were so close to the beach you could run back easily for forgotten items. We had a family of tall people so the stairway with the slanted wall was a little challenge however we would definitely come back!
Awesome house and great people to rent from
We just left this morning and were so sad to have to say goodbye. The house is perfectly situated at the end of a little road so there is no street traffic. There is also a nice yard to hang out in and play. And the best thing is the short walk to the beach. Yay! It was so easy to skip down the street to the beach, which is great for kids as the tide is gentle and there is a playground with a snack bar and bathrooms.
We could also walk to the great bakery, Scratch, the ice cream parlor, Willard Scoop, and the absolutely fabulous and new Flip Creperie, which is right next to the ice cream place. I have never been a fan of crepes but now have completely changed my mind. I would rather have a fruit or lemon crepe than ice cream now that I found this wonderful store. The lighthouse path by the Community College is breathtaking and a great walk.
Stephanie is an amazing person, and we felt as if we were staying at a friend's house. It was the best Homeaway vacation I have taken so far, and we so look forward to going back again next summer.
Our cottage is nestled in the lively Willard Beach neighborhood, steps away from Willard Beach and a five minute walk to Willard Square, home of the yummy Scratch Bakery and Scoops Ice Cream. People come to our community to enjoy the quiet beach and all our neighborhood has to offer as well as the short drive or bike ride across the bridge into downtown portland for the museums, restaurants and cafes. This is a very family and dog friendly community.
