Stunning view, very comfortable beds and linens, spacious.

  • 5 of 5

The Norder Cove guest house is the perfect place to soak in the absolutely beauty of this part of the island. The view from the deck is breath taking. The town is quaint and close enough to bonavista for supplies. The first morning we walked to the beach and then on to the puffin site. So much to discover on the way!! The houses furnishing are very comfortable and it is quite spacious. We are a family of 5, with 3 teenagers, which is at times is difficult to accommodate. We met so many wonderful friendly locals. We highly recommend this house if you are looking to slow down your pace, disconnect and truly soak in one of he most beautiful spots.

Lovely peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this lovely seaside home for four night while on our first trip to NLD. The home is very well appointed, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable beds, sofa and chairs. Lovely linens and towels. It's decorated beautifully. Views of the bay from the kitchen and the deck are awesome.. We were blessed to have days of sunshine and we spent a great amount of time on the deck. We enjoyed the walk down to the chairs overlooking the water. We toured around Elliston and Bonavista, learning about the 1914 seal hunt disaster from the museum, a short walk from the house. Viewed puffins, whales and icebergs a number of times .I've always wanted to visit NLD , it is a spectacular place, yes somewhat remote but oh so worth it. We could have stayed there longer. It was a dream come true and staying here was a welcome surprise. We've stayed in many vacation homes and this one is one of the best.

Norder Cottage better for 4 adults rather than 6

  • 3 of 5

Single Bathroom overloaded with 6 adults

Smallest bedroom too small for two adults

Step up and down from one area of cottage to another awkward for elderly adults

Dining table suited for 4 rather than 6

Unable to tune TV even with the aid of helper provided

Barbecue not functioning, not repaired while we were onsite

Cell phone service not available from cottage, couldn't easily reach contact persons

Owner's Response: - Most (if not all!) guest houses in rural Newfoundland have one bathroom. One bathroom is advertised on our site. Small bedroom is ok for two adults. See room measurements in last review response. There is a unique sunken living room that has one step up to the kitchen and hallway. Illustrated in pictures. If mobility is an issue please check the photos to see if the step poses a problem. Dining table has a leaf underneath that extends to allow for six persons. Sat TV has been cancelled and cable TV added August 2017. Very easy to operate now. Checked BBQ- works but will replace 2017. Cell phone coverage is spotty in most rural communities. It's the cost of having whales and puffins at your doorstep. Mobile coverage is available five minutes up the road. High- speed Internet works great. Mobile Skype can be used effectively if needed. Restaurant and general store are a very short walk from the house that have phones if a landline is needed.

Lovely peaceful spot

Really enjoyed this cottage and being in Elliston. Lovely space with a beautiful view of the ocean. We actually even enjoyed the lack of wifi which wasn't working when we were there but it was great to be disconnected for a couple of days!

Pricey for the value. Puffins were amazing!

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful location overlooking the harbour. The cottage itself is a bit small for 6 adults.

The 3rd bedroom is very small and there is only one bathroom and only 4 chairs around each table. We did see whales outside the window and puffins are a skip away. Had an awesome dinner at Nannies Root Cellar Kitchen.

Owner's Response: Kathy... House is great for six. Here are the room measurements: Master Bedroom - 14ft X 12ft (queen bed) 2nd Bedroom- 12ft x11ft (queen bed) 3rd Bedroom- 11.5 X 9ft (twin bed x 2) All rooms are separated by either the laundry room or the living room, creating excellent privacy. No snoring problems at Norder Cove. Decedents of the Land of the Giants maybe? Addressing value- $325 night/6 or $54 per person per night. Not bad value with whales jumping in your window and the best Puffin viewing site in Newfoundland just 5 minutes away. Nanny Haley's is a 3 minute walk from the house. It also shares the 500 ft oceanfront shoreline with our Anchor house next door, and joins 2000 feet of crown-land oceanfront. Addressing chairs- There are two dining areas. One is an eat in kitchen with a long view of the ocean, and the other is a dining room with a short view of the bay. Rooms are are 10 ft apart. Chairs can be moved and table leaf extended to create seating for 8 in either room.

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here, for a three day period, recently (June 2017). This is an adorable little home in a quiet town with an awesome ocean view. The house is nicely appointed with many small details that make it a quaint 'sea-faring' home. The kitchen was tiny but had everything we needed including a coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, glassware, utensils and dishes. The cooking space may be a little small for making any elaborate meals but that was not our interest or intent so it suited us quite well. The main living space and dining area is sufficient for four adults, six if you want to squeeze in. The photos only showed a kitchen table and chairs but there is an additional table and chairs in a separate dining room. Off that same room is a bathroom with a tub/shower and a twin bed room. the additional two bedrooms are outfitted with queen beds and each has a dresser for added storage if you are inclined to unpack or stay longer. One of the queen bedrooms is down the hallway and away from the tv area, for those who may need a bit more distance from kids or others in the house. There are laundry facilities and extra towels, sheets, etc but we did not have need for those during our short stay. the best feature is the back deck which affords a great view over a small bay and the ocean. The décor is thoughtful and lends a cozy aura to this home. There is parking on sight and the house is just down the lane from the John C. Crosbie Sealers Interpretation Center and Nanny's Root Cellar Kitchen (a main restaurant in town). I'd highly recommend this VRBO.
