About Mali Azima
I am a freelance photographer in Atlanta. My family and I lived in this house for 10 years before we had to move to a bigger place in the suburbs. We still stay at the property whenever we want to stay intown and have always loved being at this house. We have traveled around the world, using sites like vrbo to find places that fit our needs and always had a great experience. We like to make breakfast at home because we are picky about food, so for us, it beats staying at a hotel, and since we have a son, we like the extra space to sprawl out. Also, we love getting the local vibe.
Mali Azima purchased this House in 2002
Why Mali Azima chose Grant Park
There is something magical about this house. You immediately feel the positive vibes when you walk in. You feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but you are very intown. The neighborhood is very quiet, and even country. There are no curbs on the streets and fruit and nut trees are found everywhere. Our house has figs, pecans, plums, blackberries, and various herbs, just growing on their own. There is a large fenced in backyard, and a nice sized back patio to hang out in. It is so conveniently located to just about everything you would want to do in Atlanta.
What makes this House unique
Stay in a charming, hand built house with lots of space. This house is set up as a vacation rental and there is no personal clutter. Lovingly decorated with an artistic eye, it is a very calm and peaceful setting for spending time with family and friends or taking a pause from work.

Conveniently located between the airport, downtown, and lots of good food. Mali, the owner, was great...she always responded quickly to questions. This property sleeps 3 couples, or 3 individuals.
We had such a fun time in Atlanta and your house helped make it better. The location was perfect! We were within just a few miles of everything we planned on going to. The house was precious and very comfortable. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!!!
Overall, the house was very nice. The location is convenient in terms of its proximity to restaurants and downtown, and the neighborhood was quiet and clean. Good air conditioning and an efficient kitchen with a well designed island. No microwave oven (highly recommended) but the laundry closet came in handy. The back porch was private and a nice place to relax. TV room was cozy and we also enjoyed the small dining area for eating and as a small office space. Enough parking for 2 cars. The house and yard may be a little rough around the edges but for the price it is well worth it. I would definitely stay there again.
This house was the perfect place for my wife and I to relax while exploring in and around Atlanta. It's tucked up in a friendly neighborhood that's surrounded by many of Atlanta's best restaurants. It's cozy, clean, and has an amazing private backyard. It's unique, and perfect for a weekend away. The neighborhood is walking distance from Grant Park, one of the largest parks in Atlanta. The kitchen was well equipped, and there is a farmers market at Grant Park on Sundays!
My son and I traveled to Atlanta for a few days for a tour of the city. After driving for 12 hours, all we wanted to do was flop and relax. Unfortunately as another reviewer stated, the furniture was not made for comfort and the TV is very small with limited channel selection. With the 5 star reviews given since then, I had hoped this had changed. Since this was our first time visiting Atlanta, we were very uncomfortable with the lack of curtains in the living room, bathroom, kitchen and a mattress on the floor in the one bedroom. The yard was unkempt making for a very shabby appearance. The owner asks that you wash your sheets before leaving. Unfortunately, the previous occupant did not do this. After a family member got scabies from a hotel, I am very particular about sheets and noted the sheets were dirty. Twelve hour drive and I need to then wash sheets as there were no spare ones even though description stated there were. There was a leak in the living room and ants in the kitchen. I did enjoy sitting on the back porch in the morning and listening to the roosters and sheep in the next yard. The front porch was screened with only one seat and the screen was torn. If you do stay here, make sure you bring a flashlight. Coming in at night there is only one bulb that works on the front porch and no light on the wall inside so you need to walk into a dark room to find a light to turn on and then shut off the alarm. Overall, I would not recommend staying here until improvements are made. If these changes were made, the place would be enjoyable.
A larger TV has been installed and the mattress in the second bedroom has been put on a box spring and frame.
I checked with my cleaning woman and she said all sheets were washed as usual, and all beds were made by her, before this guest arrived. I ask guests to put their sheets in the washer and run it on hot with detergent and bleach, to get it started so my cleaning people have enough time to make everything perfect before the next guests arrive. The cleaning people are instructed to make sure the sheets were washed on hot and that there is the smell of bleach, or they are to rewash them. All the guests who have stayed there have been good decent people and I don't expect any scabies, not to mention, hotels use industrial bleach and industrial washers, so...Also, there are extra sheets in the closet. I'm not sure why this guest did not see them, however, I asked her to let me know if she has any concerns or questions, and she never contacted me during her entire stay. The living room has 2 sets of french doors which face the backyard because of the lush foliage, no one can see in the house from those windows unless they are standing in the backyard. In the bathroom, there is a shower curtain, and when the shower is used, the window steams up right as the water gets hot, and no one can see in, plus there is a screen of privet outside. That's the way we did it for 10 years, and the previous owner did it as well. Someone's dog tore up the screen and I have had at least two contractors out there to give me a quote, but have not been able to get on their schedule with one yet. I have been saving up money to replace the roof in the back because all efforts to fix it have been unsuccessful. It leaks during hard rains. I will put more lightbulbs on the front porch, but was keeping it on the darker side for privacy of anyone sitting on the front porch in the evening. I'm sorry this guest had so many issues, however, maybe this was not the right type of place for her. There have been many guests who have stayed here and absolutely loved it. I am also listed on another vacation rental site where I have many rave reviews.
Beware the pictures are misleading. If comfortable furniture and a tv larger than a computer screen is important to you this is not the place for you. The exterior is unkept And overgrown. Location very misleading, not close to restaurants or shopping. Owner requires ac to be turned off it was 92 degrees inside upon our arrival, top 24 hours to cool down. On a positive note the cleaning service does a good job.
The pictures are very accurate including the size of the tv. It is not a tv watching house. No one has ever complained about the furniture before, the sofa is quite comfortable and the beds are comfortable as well, and really all of it is. The dining set was there when I lived there and we used it everyday. The bushes needed a trim but the lawn had just been mowed, the landscaping is maintained regularly, however, Atlanta is a temperate rain forest and I allow the beauty of that to come through the woodsy, lush yard, with it's giant 50 year old camellia bushes, and other native plantings. There are restaurants within 15 minutes walking distance, however, I recommend driving to other walking areas for more restaurant and shopping, as seen in my listing description. This guest arrived on a super hot day, and no one had been at the house for a couple of days. Regardless, the AC unit is oversized for this house and cools it down fast and nicely, however, on a hot day, it will never get to 70 degrees because it is an old house. And a charming house. And the top floor of my 3 story townhouse built in 2008 never gets below 82 in the summer. Atlanta is very hot and humid in the summer. And this guest has never used vrbo before and it seems like they were wishing they had more of a hotel situation with oversized seating and big tvs. This is not that kind of house. It is charming, visually nice, and a special and unique place to be.
