Overview

About the property

This property is part of the Home Collection-Charlotte's Boutique Furnished Residences.

Located on one of the nicest residential streets in the city, our Hermitage Court building is home to our four most exclusive residences, comparable to or surpassing accommodations at the finest hotels in town, in an unmatched location.

This ground floor, 2br/2.5 ba apartment, ~1,300 sq. ft., includes a fireplace for winter evenings, a screened porch for warmer months and a wetbar for entertaining. The front lawn is ideal for croquet, and the back yard has a grill and a patio with comfortable adirondack chairs.

The spacious open floorplan is ideal for entertaining, and the wetbar is stocked with complimentary beverages. Original artwork hangs on the walls throughout, many of the paintings by noted artist Nico Amortigui/Malo.

The chef's kitchen comes complete with a Fisher & Paykel 5-burner gas range with convection oven, counter-depth refrigeration, and Dual DishDrawer dishwasher. Glass-front cabinets provide a sense of spaciousness.

The kitchen is fully equipped down to the garlic press and zester, and we're happy to stock the full-size pantry before you arrive.

The apartment has a sunny southern exposure, so is always bright.

The master bedroom has a beautiful view of the front lawn and landscaped median on quiet Hermitage Court. Two closets offer plenty of room for clothing, and the new King bed and 400 thread-count linens help ensure a comfortable night's rest.

The ensuite master bath includes heated Carrara marble floors, two sinks, a granite vanity, dual shower, private w/c and thick Egyptian cotton towels.

The second bedroom has an ensuite Carrara-tiled bathroom and large closet. The twin beds can be made into a comfortable King for a small charge.

A full-size washer and dryer are in the hallway.

Covered parking is included for 1 vehicle, with ample street parking available directly in front of the building for additional vehicles.

Walk to some of the city's finest restaurants (French, Italian, Thai etc.) as well as some of its prettiest parks. The nearby deli offers a superb wine selection for the well-heeled neighborhood and the deluxe full-service Harris Teeter grocery is a mile away. The Manor Theatre just a few blocks away screens independent films.

As a 3rd generation Charlottean, I'm happy to offer suggestions and recommendations to help you get the most from your stay. My partner and I have a pretty good pulse on what's happening around town, so please ask!

Housekeeping can be arranged, as well as nightly turn-down service. We have an extensive, curated list of service professionals, from in-home chefs to masseurs to tailors, all among the best in the city.

About Jim Hock

My partner James and I travel extensively, so appreciate warm hospitality wherever we go. We eschew hotels, which are typically in tourist zones or business districts, in favor of the neighborhood location of well-situated residences. When traveling in this manner, we get a much better feeling of how it is to live a particular city, and we dine, shop and experience the city as locals rather than as tourists.

Why Jim Hock chose Charlotte

Location, location, location. The best street in the neighborhood, one of the nicest in the city. Quiet, private, centrally-located in a park-like setting.

Wonderful home! completely met all of our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Everything went as planned the home was beautiful and very comfortable. The location is great and the owner went out of his way to be helpful even making restaurant suggestions. The amenities were wonderful and the house was very well equipped. We would definitely stay here again and wish we could find this type of accommodations anywhere else we traveled.

Like a Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in a Home Collection residence for the first time back in August 2015 during our annual family reunion. We were so pleased with our stay that we booked again for this year's reunion, staying for two nights in late August 2016. I didn't think it was possible, but this particular unit exceeded our expectations in many ways.

First, this unit is impeccably designed and furnished. When we first entered the unit, everyone in our party could not stop saying, "wow". It is an impressive blend of antique, art deco and modern. As you can tell from the pictures, everything is top of the line, from the appliances to the furniture. I have to admit, we took pictures of almost everything, hoping to duplicate the designs in our own home.

Second, the unit is located in the heart of Myer’s Park, a beautiful, historic neighborhood that is truly one of a kind. Tree-lined streets, restored historic homes, and friendly neighbors out for a walk. It is within walking distance of a grocery store, drug store, Starbucks and much more.

Third, the owners are not only responsive, but they actually care whether you have a good experience with them. Their thoughtfulness and concern for our comfort is something that will bring us back to The Home Collection for future stays.

If you're considering a stay in the Charlotte area, we highly recommend the Home Collection and especially this particular unit.

Magnificent!

  • 5 of 5

I am in love with this property which is conveniently located in a safe and clean neighborhood. It's not far from the airport and other major spots but quiet enough to retreat nicely at the end of a busy day. No issue with accessing the key and checking in. The house was impeccable!!! There was no detail left unattended and they even offered a small amount of groceries for after a long trip.

I have NO complaints and as a hotelier and hospitality industry professional, this is not the norm for me.

I would highly recommend this property and as an added plus, Charlie and Jim are absolutely awesome! Attentive, accommodating and efficient!

I will most definitely be back!!

We really enjoyed our stay, it was a nice apartment, well equipped kitchen, nice with the welcome package. The area was good for walking and running. Ii was easy to find a parking spot on the street. The only problem we had was with a TV set in one of the bed room.

Wonderfully equipped apartment in Myer's Park. Treated us like royalty.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for over a week in this unit while in town for business. The apartment is beautiful. It's one of 4 units, 2 up and 2 down in a charming converted house in Myer's Park. Convenient to everything and very quiet, neighborhood feel. The owners have provided so many nice touches to make you feel completely at home to kitchen goods, soaps, lots of towels, nice linens etc. Even liquor at the bar! The only con (and honestly everything else was so nice I feel guilty for having any complaints) is the noise from neighbors. Being an old house, the walls and floors are very thin. It wouldn't keep me from staying again but I'd probably opt for an upper unit. The couple above us had a baby we could hear cry, dad sing and I'm afraid we woke up just by moving around in the kitchen. The guy next door had several dogs. They didn't bark all the time but when the mood struck them, they were quite a chorus. Nothing interrupted our sleep but because we were there working we tended to have the TV off and hear more.

Next time I'm in Charlotte, I will rent a unit from this owner. They have guest service figured out!

It was easy to get to our key and get in the apartment. We could not have been more pleased with the luxurious furnishings in the apartment when we arrived. They are very tasteful and the apartment had everything that we needed to make our visit comfortable. The wine and snacks were a welcomed surprise and a treat after our travels. The beds are so comfortable, I slept like a baby. The bathrooms have everything you need including fresh towels, blowdryer, lotions, shampoo, and soap. The kitchen was fully equipped. We only used the coffee maker, but it would have been a great kitchen to prepare meals. We took advantage of the fabulous restaurants in Charlotte. My friend and I were visiting Charlotte to attend to wedding plans for my daughter, so the location was very convenient for us. The neighborhood is very quiet and well manicured. We loved our stay and will again as Charlotte is my daughter's home.

Less than 2 miles from Uptown Charlotte (Panthers Stadium, Hornets/Time Warner Arena, Discovery Place, Convention Center, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Mint Museum, Spirit Square, Gantt Center for African-American Art, Epicentre, NASCAR Hall of Fame, NC Music Factory and more) our Hermitage Court building is located in the heart of historic Myers Park, home to generations of prominent Charlotteans, on a quiet lane with a beautifully landscaped median.

Impressive stone gateways flank each end of the street, and provide a grand entrance to the neighborhood, developed between 1913 and 1925. A century later, the overwhelming majority of the houses retain their original architectural character, and the street is a designated Historic District.

Our stately building sits on a half acre of gently sloping land and the large lot provides an ideal place for outdoor entertaining (including a gas grill and adirondack chairs) or for a game of croquet, and offers unmatched privacy, peace and quiet.

There are four residences in the building, all with screened porches. The upstairs units offer partial skyline views of Uptown Charlotte, and all offer the privacy and seclusion of one of Charlotte's premier streets.

For those with horticultural interests, Wing Haven Garden is 5 minutes away, and the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden 20-30 minute drive.

The US National Whitewater Center is ~20 minutes away, offering rafting and kayaking on 'the world's largest and most complex recirculating artificial whitewater river.'

Within a half mile walking distance are more than 40 restaurants (Thai, Italian (fine and casual), French....), many locally owned shops along the Myers Park Mile (antiques, fine gifts, mens and women's clothing, etc.) and several parks, including an almost-private tennis court in Edgehill Park.

Live theater is staged just around the corner at Theatre Charlotte and independent movies are screened at the Manor Theater less than a half mile away.

Top-notch medical facilities, including CMC (Levine Children's Hospital, Levine Cancer Institute) and Presbyterian hospitals are 2-3 miles away, and OrthoCarolina just a mile.

SouthPark Mall (Luis Vuitton, Hermes, Nieman Marcus, etc.) is less than 5 miles away.
