About marietta shipley
David and Marietta have enjoyed Deer Valley for over twenty years. They spend six weeks in the summer, a week at Thanksgiving and two weeks skiing. Otherwise they live in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a psychologist and she is an attorney. They are active in their community and love to travel all over the world. They invite you to enjoy the views at any time of the year. In the winter, they both enjoy skiing, in the summer, there is hiking, biking, music festivals and eating at their favorite restaurants. The property has been under outside management for many years. Now that we spend more time out here in the summer, we manage it ourself and thus are able to offer more reasonable prices. Our on site manager Arnoldo Alvarado, welcomes you to the condom as he is the manager for our complex. He will respond to any issue that comes up promptly.
marietta shipley purchased this Condo in 1993
Why marietta shipley chose Deer Valley
Originally they purchased the property because the convenient Salt Lake Airport was only 45 minutes away from Park City. Rental cars were across from the airport. Everything was convenient from the grocery stores to the restaurants . The convenient bus service was a real plus. They hope you will enjoy it as much as they do.
What makes this Condo unique
They chose this property for its convenience to the Deer Valley ski area and the views from the condo. The pond in front of the condo ( 15 feet away) has new duck families every year and its own resident muskrat . Every year at least one moose comes to visit in the lagoon and eventually swims away. It is located 5 minutes from the St . Regis Hotel and its cool funicular and beautiful terrace, high up the mountain. There are three ski areas within ten minutes, 7 ski areas within 45 minutes. It has the best snow in the world with the most incredible groomed slopes and outback area. We would not go anywhere else to ski or spend the summer time.

Dear Scott : Thanks for sting in out condo. Sorry about the WiFi. I hope our property manager Arnoldo could help fix it quickly. This week we had A foot of snow. The powder was glorious. Hope you had a good time and see you next year. Marietta and David
Great ski condo for the family
It is great condo for the family on a ski trip Deer Valley. Unit is right off the bus route and easy to get around Deer Valley and Park City. We had a blast!
David: Thanks for staying with us. It truly is convenient. You can also take the Deer Valley Lodging van. It comes right after the bus. We used it this morning, as we are out here ourselves for a week of skiing. We have great snow this week, so if you didn't, it was an oversight. Next year it may be more in the 400 inch range.
The condo was very comfortable for 4 of us. It is very well decorated and dealing with the owner was very easy. The plus of the underground parking lot and the Hot Tub made our stay worthwhile. Excellent view of Deer Valley Ski resort and location made our trip very enjoyable. During my next visit to Deer Valley and Park City, I will be looking at staying here again. Only issue was the snow being limited. But as we all know this is something no one can control!
Great location and nice amenities
Stayed here for Sundance week and were really impressed by the condo itself. Really nice bathrooms and hot tub were a plus. Accessibility to Deer Valley, Main Street, and Park City by bus was really convenient- no need for a car. Would recommend.
Thanks. I'm glad you had a chance to experience Sundance skiing, with the empty slopes. Glad you liked the condo. Hope you'll come back.
Disappointing stay, Especially for a Holiday Trip
First guests to stay in this newly remodeled unit. Unfortunately were the guinea pigs for the new changes. New floor tile and floor heating installed throughout the unit was attractive and comfortable. Because job wasn't 100% complete we had both bath showers that had improper drainage and flooded bath when used. Planned glass shower doors were late so we were given temporary shower curtains. Unfortunately the curtains couldn't contain the water inside the shower area due to improper tile installation creating drainage issues. Every shower taken produced a flood of water into the entire bath and out into the hall. It was so bad we couldn't use the master shower in fear of flooding the entire master bedroom. We found ourselves avoiding showers which on a ski vacation is a huge inconvenience. Although the remote owner was attempting to be helpful and I believe felt bad about the situation, the problem ruined our trip. Between trying to create barriers with towels and mopping up the floor after each use with an old mop we found, the vacation was spoiled. The owner felt bad and gave us a refund of one night on our 5 night stay as a good faith gesture after the trip. In addition to the shower drain issue, the unit was dirty with dust from all the construction. The living room TV and its assesories were in disarray in its cabinet and other than the TV itself, did not function correctly. I got the TV to work but believe again that the contractors probably disconnected everything and it was not set back up correctly. The units kitchen was not well equipped as we found out the first night when we tried to bake a frozen pizza and there weren't any cookie sheets or pizza pans that were sanitary. We ultimately went out and purchased new pans ourselves. Another caution is Fawn Grove is an older complex which lacks an elevator to get luggage, and groceries up from the underground garage which we weren't aware of. Our heavy bags were challenging for us to carry up the stairway.
Overall Our stay assessment:
Close proximity to Snow Park Lodge and bus convenience
Floor heating versus forced air
Limited kitchen assessories
LR only seats 3 comfortably
Construction dust and disarray of AV equipment
Hot tub on patio not useable due to no snow clearing
I believe the owners are consciences and will fix the problems given time.
Mr. Fricker , I am so sorry that the shower doors were not yet installed due to major construction delay. ( We began in August). We thought the curtain would suffice for a few days, but it did not. Everything was remedied the day you left, but that did not help you. Now shower doors are installed. Condo is spic and span. Arnoldo fixed the tv while you were there. Our manager is very responsive. I'm sure you were upset with the major problem. Arnoldo would have sent his guys to clear off the hottub. The pizza pan was in a drawer under the oven.
We appreciate all the feedback so we can always make the experience up to Deer Valley standards.
Christmas 2017 was a difficult year, as the only snow was man made. Skiing was crowded as Deer Valley was the only mountain that had a decent man made base and 1/2 the runs open. In 2016, by Christmas, it had snowed 80 inches of wonderful dry Utah snow and all runs were open. The weather gods are fickle. As of 1/11/18 we just got 16 inches+ of new snow, 39 inch base and 19 of 20 lifts open.
As for the elevator, I wish it had one too.
Great place - and location
What a great place! Very clean, comfortable and everything you need to feel right at home. The view of Snow Park Lodge is amazing! We'll be back for sure.
Snowshoeing. Cross-country skiing anywhere or along specified trails or with an outfitter. Tube sledding is at Kimball Junction. There is bobsledding and ski jumping at the Olympic Park. The St. Regis Hotel, a super-luxury hotel is within walking distance, up the funicular. The Montage Hotel, another luxury resort hotel is at Empire Mountain, about 10 minutes away.
