About Jeff and Tammy

Welcome to our home! We were custom builders for most of our career and built this home originally as our personal residence. After we received interest from people wanting to rent our home, we decided to share it with everyone and turned our custom and loved home into a vacation rental property. We lovingly selected each piece for this home to add to the character of this gorgeous Lodge! Most of the "Genuine and Authentic Game Mountings" were captured and preserved by our Uncle as far away as the Canadian Rockies and as close as the Mountains in Eastern Tennessee. We hope you will stay our beloved "Hackberry Lodge" and enjoy our home!

Jeff and Tammy purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Jeff and Tammy chose Sevierville

Most of our guests have made comments that they are blown away the minute that they walk in the door! The views are so amazing its hard to capture them in a picture! You will be drawn in to that amazing view as soon as you enter this custom built and gorgeous cabin!

Absolutely perfect from start to finish

  • 5 of 5

Looking back into our previous trips, I noticed my failure to leave a review for our trip May of 2016. There are no words for what an exceptional experience we had at this cabin and with our gracious hosts! From start to finish the hosts responded promptly to inquiries and were nothing but helpful. The cabin itself, stunningly perfect! In all honesty we all left kicking and screaming. This property is in our hearts. It is spacious, clean and exceedingly well appointed. The decor was classy and comfortable and utterly relaxing. The exterior deck and fireplaced side porch were an extension of the whole experience. Stunning views from every angle and well placed expensive landscape made this beyond a 5 star accommodation. A huge thank you to our hosts for allowing our family of four the opportunity to stay here. We dream of returning!

Owner's Response: Jose, It was an absolute pleasure having you as our guests! How sweet you are to contact us after so much time to give us this outstanding review! To hear from our wonderful and valued guests about how much you love our cabin and how it impacted your trip makes us smile!! We stay in our cabin home several weeks each year as well and I honestly have the same reaction when I leave!! I make every excuse I can when loading up the car to continue to come back inside so I can soak up that view!! Its always hard to say Goodbye! My only consolation is knowing I will hopefully be back again soon - so please come back and visit again! We will leave the front porch light on for you!! Jeff and Tammy

Lovely house, lovely view and so appreciated the wood burning fireplaces both inside and out!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your home with us! The location is ideal and the roads leading to the house are great and the panoramic view is outstanding! We really loved everything, the house along with all furnishings are top of the line! My favorite thing would have to be the wood burning fireplaces both inside and out! The beds were extremely comfortable but a little challenging to get into, ha! We also appreciated the Christmas decorations! Again, thanks for sharing your awesome home with us, we enjoyed it so much and hope to return!

Did not get what we have reserved

  • 3 of 5

We reserved the Hackberry Lodge in January 2017 for a stay (one week) in October 2017 after we checked hundreds of homepages. We wanted to have a cabin where we can grill steaks with a gas grill as it is easier to handle than a charcoal grill. When we arrived at the cabin we realised that there was no gas grill and called immediately the housekeeper who explained that there was an incident with propan gas and the owner decided to take the gas grill away. We were so disappointed and called the owner. He apologized that we were unhappy with the charcoal grill but was not willing to give us either a refund or provide a grill. He even doubt that we have chosen the cabin because of the gas grill. You have to know we are from Europe and like to cook, we also cannot buy US meat in the same outstanding quality at home.

Furthermore the cabin was not clean. The fridge was in and outside sticky, dirty tableware, old cookware and cooking pots who should be replaced. As we didnt want to call again the housekeeping and lose time to wait for her - we cleaned the kitchen by ourself. Because we were disgusted of the old pans we bought 2 pans and new cookware. After the experience in the kitchen we checked the Whirlpool and didnt use it because the water looked cloudy.

The light in the cabin is very special, there are many lamps in the kitchen and living room but it is not possible to read a book in the evening, because it is too dark. You cannot darken the windows in the livingroom, nor the kitchen which we also didn't like.

To summarize: In our view the missing gas grill was a change of contract and the owner didn't inform us. Otherwise we would have chosen another cabin or we could have saved the money and reserve a cabin with charcoal grill, because there are plenty of them. What have we learned? We will never ever book a cabin from a private person again. We have booked previous stays through American Patriot Getaways and whenever we had an issue they resolved it to our satisfaction.

Owner's Response: We take great pride in not only our home and our guests but also our beloved Great Smoky Mountains. With over 100 5 star reviews for this cabin, it is unfortunate that this guest was not satisfied with our home due to the removal and replacement of our gas propane grill. As residents of this area and property owners, we took the initiative after the recent devastating fires that robbed us of 11 precious soles and evacuated over 1400 people to replace our propane grills with safer grills that use charcoal. We were concerned with our guests' safety and the preservation of our beautiful Smoky Mountains. The propane tanks did not ignite the fires but they helped to fuel them as the fires reached most of the rental cabins in the Downtown Gatlinburg area. For the safety and concern of our guest and area, we immediately replaced all of our propane tanks and installed commercial park style charcoal grills at each and every one of our cabins. We believed it was the right thing to do for our guests, our neighbors and our beloved Mountains. We followed up by sending letters to our guests notifying them of the change. It is unfortunate that this guest is from Europe and was perhaps not aware of the impact of the fires to our area. As former new home builders, we set our bar pretty high with our standards. We know that we are not perfect but we do our best to refurbish our cabins and our home consistently thru-out the year with fresh and upgraded decor, supplies and new premium linen. We take great care and attention to our cabin which is reflected in the enormously overwhelming amount of reviews from our satisfied and happy guests. The love, strength and support for our area and community keeps us shining brightly! Thanks to our valued guests for keeping us Mountain Strong! Jeff and Tammy

AMAZING! Beautiful cabin and spectacular views!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I surprised our 82 year old father with a trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg - and what did he immediately do when we arrived at this amazing cabin - he called all of his friends to tell them about the cabin and incredible views. In fact, he didn't want to do much sightseeing - he wanted to enjoy the lovely home!

Our stay was too short! The cabin was so beautiful and the location was fantastic! So close to everything, yet we felt tucked away in our own paradise! The best part was the amazing views - while we were up on a mountain, we had full view of the mountain ranges - incredible!

There was so much living space and the outdoor space was perfect. We enjoyed watching the sunset on the rocking chairs and my sister and I were pleasantly surprised that we were able to put our swimsuits on and enjoy the hot tub! The cabin was equipped with everything! We cooked some great meals in fully equipped kitchen - had some great laughs at the dining room table - enjoyed some great movies (so surprised to have access to cable, Netflix, Amazon and Hulu!) wrapped up in front of the fireplace - all in all, a great home away from home!

I will definitely make a return visit to this beautiful cabin and have already shared the link with many of my friends! Thank you Tammy and Jeff for sharing your amazing mountain home!

Stunningly beautiful log home & gorgeous mountain view!

  • 5 of 5

The two of us stayed about a week, leaving each morning for a long mountain hike in the park, coming back and cooking a gourmet dinner, then ending each day by lounging in the hot tub and enjoying a fire until bedtime. Things we especially liked: awesome wood interiors, beautiful furnishings & decor, big covered outdoor porch with fireplace, big & very well-equipped kitchen, extremely comfortable king mattress in the main bedroom, roomy main bathroom with double sink, covered parking, reliable wi-fi. We have stayed in many cabins and log homes in the Smokies, and this is by far our favorite. Highly recommended!

Best vacation place ever

  • 5 of 5

This place we found to be near everything we wanted to go to and had the most wonderful view of the mountains one could ask for. Loved being able to have such a view when having morning coffee. Vacations are sometimes too short when enjoying the stay here.
