Townhome, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Since we began visiting Breckenridge, we have always wanted a true ski-in/ski-out home with a high level of privacy and amenities. Our purchase 13 years ago of this Cedars townhouse realized these goals. This unit is a more spacious end unit (a big plus) and has been renovated both insjide and out. Inside we have new hardwood flooring, lots of new furniture, new TVs, and a new kitchen with granite countertops. Also in the spring of 2014 we completely renovated all 3 bathrooms. In the summer of 2016, Cedars implemented a new wifi and cable tv system which gave us super fast internet access and improved tv service. Repeat guests will continue to notice numerous upgrades and a high level of attention paid to our townhouse as we are regular users of it as well. It should be noted that unlike most other listings, our per night rate is all inclusive, except for a possible VRBO fee.
The living room is warm and cozy but large enough for a large family to relax in and enjoy the gas fireplace and the brand new 42' surround-sound HD TV and sound system. All of the bedrooms are upstairs and are far removed from the active living areas downstairs. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, the second bedroom has a queen, and the 3rd bedroom has bunk beds (futon/full-size on bottom, single on top) and a twin. All bedrooms have TVs. The living room also has a comfortable fold-out couch that can sleep two. The master bedroom has views from the room or outside deck that are spectacular. There is a two-car garage that also serves as a place to keep your skis or bicycles.
Perhaps the best feature of this townhouse is the fact that in less than a minute after walking out the door you are putting your skis on and skiing down (about 50 yards) to the Quicksilver chairlift. (Cedars Townhomes are on the trail next to the Quicksilver lift.) This proximity truly makes skiing hassle-free and allows you to easily ski home for a relaxing lunch and avoid the high-priced and hectic mountain restaurants. The Quicksilver lift is also a base area with several restaurants, a lift ticket office and the ski school.
If mountain views are important to you then you should know that our townhouse, because of its location on the mountain has the best views of any Cedars unit. If spending time in town is something that you like to do, our home is a short (maybe four to five minute) walk to Main Street and the Village base area. Also, all Cedars guests have access to the Upper Village pool and hot tubs located just down the street. This facility has just been completely rebuilt and is amazing. A link to the Upper Village web site is below. (Let Mike the owner know if you're interested in using the Upper Village pool as a special key card is needed to get in.) And don't forget that your lift ticket is good at Keystone (check out their night skiing), Vail, Beaver Creek, and Arapahoe Basin. For those of you who are not familiar with the Cedars Townhomes, they are regarded as having the best overall location on the mountain because they are both ski-in/ski-out and close to town. Cedars units are now appraised at anywhere between $700,000 and $1,300,000 depending on size and location.
With all of the activities available in warmer weather, our townhouse is a great place to vacation in the summer. It seems that most of the locals say that 'they came to Breckenridge to ski but stayed because of the summers.'
Unlike other listings, you would be renting directly from the owners - not a property management company. This more than likely means lower rental rates!
Mike and Beth (the owners) recommend that the renters initially email or call them to get the process started. Pricing and other questions can be addressed here.
BTW, for you beach-oriented folks, check out our beach-front, Hilton Head listing at vrbo 781851.

About Mike Soby
We are a family of skiers/snowboarders that lives on Hilton Head Island, SC. We get to use our townhouse 8 weeks in the winter and spring and even longer in the summer. Its hard to say which season we like better. Mike is now retired and Beth has a dog and house-sitting service. Our kids (Elizabeth and Michael) are out of college now and live and work in the Denver area. We have owned this townhouse since early 2005 and it has proven to be the best purchase we have ever made!
Mike Soby purchased this Townhome in 2005
Why Mike Soby chose Breckenridge
Breck is the best and the Cedars Townhomes are in the best location in Breckenridge!

Unit is better than advertised. Very clean and everything was in great shape. We really enjoyed our stay!!
Cedars #42 has everything - Location and great accomodation
I have never stayed in a vacation rental so well stocked. Plenty of towels, paper products and the kitchen has everything you need. Seriously... no running to the store because there are no coffee filters or salt.
If you are skiing / snowboarding there is no better location. Peak 9 base village is very convenient (downhill) for lessons and access to the Quicksilver lift. Our kids all took snowboard lessons there and the quality of instruction was great. At the end of the day you can snowboard right back to the condo. I really recommend staying near Peak 9 village. There are lots of places to stay near the ski school/lifts and it is SO close to downtown!
Having the big garage is a bonus! Plenty of room for your rental car and staging an entire family's boots and boards. The fireplace in the living room is perfect for drying gloves, jackets, etc.
You can rent gear from the Doubletree right across the street (there is a discount with the rental). We chose to rent from Alpine Sports Rental (inside the Valdoro lodge, short walk). We got a great online discount. They also stayed open until 8pm so we were able to pick up all our equipment the night we got to Breck.
My family was very comfortable in this condo. It is very big! Beware there are lots of stairs inside so it may not be suited for everyone! In summary here are the major advantages of this rental:
1. LOCATION to lift and ski school
2. VERY WELL stocked
3. Garage!!!!! Even if you don't have a car you will appreciate the space.
5. Washer/Dryer (we used it every day!)
Only drawbacks I can think of is there is a short walk to get to the hot tubs and the stairs inside the condo.
Enjoy your stay at the Cedars!
Close to EVERYTHING
Our Family loved staying here. We had three different level of skiers and this unit is close to two lifts, one for greens and one to blue runs. We skied back to lunch almost everyday it was so close. The kitchen is well equipped and when I was cooking, I always found what I needed. Most likely, because the owner's spend a lot of time here. This unit has been updated and we had everything we needed all week. We loved keeping our ski equipment in the garage, so we did not have to hike a long distance to ski lockers. Another wonderful thing is that they have a code to the garage door, so we did not need 6 sets of keys. The owner, Mike, was the most responsive person I have ever rented from. During the week, we did not have any issues at all, but my son lost his wallet on the mountain and I left my ski wallet in the unit the last day. When I called Mike, he immediately, called his cleaning crew, by the time I landed in Atlanta, they found it and are sending it back to me.
Also, a few days ago, a Breckenridge ski instructor found my son's wallet and they are mailing it back to us. I truly thought, I would never see either of the wallets again.
Our family has only had about five ski trips but we will be back to Breckenridge and #42 Cedars. We loved how close we were to two lifts and a easy walk to Main Street shops and restaurants. We all love how many runs Breckenridge has to offer for the green runs to the difficult ones. We loved the little mountain town, with all the unique shops and all the wonderful restaurants. The Food was amazing, but either make reservations before you come or eat early.
Their den was big enough for us all to watch movies all together but each bedroom had a TV, so if you needed some alone time, you could just stay in your bedroom and watch it. Also, their internet was fast which is really important to my family.
This is our second time staying at Cedars and you cannot beat the location. It is true ski in ski out. We had a great experience. The condo was very well maintained, clean, and fully stocked with all necessities. I recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable stay at Breck!
Good deal, though lacking the final "over the top" touches.
Mike and Beth were easy to contact and to deal with. The condo was right at the corner of the complex next the road and across from the Doubletree Hotel. Unfortunately that meant a lot of traffic noise, including the shuttle buses and trucks that run up and down the hill; earplugs helped with sleep. We rented another unit in the complex last year, and it had more updated kitchen and an extra shower in the spare bathroom; which this one lacked. This one was cozy and spacious enough, with easy access to the lifts. Another improvement that would be great, are softer mattresses. The one in the master bed was acceptable. But the ones in the second and third bedrooms are quite hard, which made it difficult for some of us to get a good nights sleep. We also appreciated the maintenance / groundskeeper (?) who shoveled the snow off the lower balconies so we could enjoy the outdoor space during our stay. We had an issue with the CO detector going off, but a quick call to the owners solved that problem.
In the 12 years that we have owned our townhouse no one has ever complained about road noise and we don't think that is an issue at all. Our kitchen was remodeled about 12 years ago, is in excellent condition and is extremely well equipped (see other reviews). We have also added numerous cosmetic changes recently. Also our mattresses are not very old (about 4 years old) and again no one has ever complained about them. The CO detectors actually plug into the wall and have battery backups which periodically need changing. We leave numerous batteries there just in case a remote or a detector needs them. We spend about 5 months a year there and we strive to have one of the nicest units at Cedars and our past reviews and repeat guests seem to reflect that.
The location is perfect, a great place to stay. We had a lot of room.
Glad you enjoyed our place! I heard that the snow was great also.
