About Mark & Margreet

We, Mark and Margreet, fell in love with Bonaire 7 years ago, returning almost every year to the island. When we are at home in Amsterdam we love to share this fantastic place with visitors to Bonaire who would like to experience the true island living.

Mark & Margreet purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Mark & Margreet chose Bona Bista

Last year we discovered Kas Mai in the most beautiful and pristine location on Bonaire, Finca Verde, fell in love all over again and decided to buy our home away from home ! Bonaire is a wonderfull place because of it's quiet and peacefull atmosphere, friendly people and the avarage temperatures of 82˚F (28˚C) year round.

What makes this cottage unique

This is an original old Bonairian style home. This unique location will make you feel at home the moment you enter the property.

Wonderful, comfortable house in beautiful quiet location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kas Mai for 3 weeks in January/February 2018 and will definitely be going back. Prior to our stay communication from Mark was excellent with lots of information. On arrival, we were met by Nathalie who lives next door and during our stay Nathalie was always on hand if needed and very friendly and helpful. A lovely touch was the fridge stocked with essentials and we could enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda after a long days travel! The private location is peaceful and beautiful but only a few minutes from town. The house is spacious, comfortable and well equipped and really felt like a home from home for us. Highly recommended!

Extremely Accomodating

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this wonderful place for a week and had a great time. Walter was very accommodating as we were having an extremely hard time with lost luggage issues. It was a spacious, clean, and very well maintained place situated just outside of town in the middle a unique forest. Thanks once again for all of your help.

Fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

We rented this romantic place with our family (two boys, 1y and 2,5y old) for almost 6 weeks and had a fantastic time, the villa is nicely situated to the wind so we didn't need to make any use of the air conditioning. Both the neighbors and the other people living near were very friendly and we were several times invited for diner or BBQ during our stay. The owners have many connections and ideas of beautiful diving locations, horse riding, lounge bar and restaurants. Our children were very happy with all the toys they could borrow from the owners children. The only improvement would be a dishwasher. We loved the stars-view out there, and a very positive thing was, due to the nice wind, we didn't see or feel any mosquito's. (which was horrible at our previous vacation in Belnem) Next time we go back to Bonaire we will try to rent this place again.

Nice villa/community

  • 5 of 5

Me and my wife visited Bonaire for snorkeling mostly. We liked the villa and the area. It's located far from the road in a friendly Dutch community. The only thing that bothered me a lot was the noise from the neighboring house (which was very close to ours). Specifically the owner of the house loves to whistle to music pretty loudly. And he's really good at it - it's just that high-pitch sounds annoy me easily especially where I hoped not to have them. But after about 8/9 PM everything was always quiet.

The owner of our villa was very helpful. He picked us up and dropped off at the airport. We rented his car as well. The car has "been there" but it has done just fine for the price. (I would fix the inside light though - it could be important when looking at the map in the dark).

If you have little children, you can't leave them alone on the porch - it's high and has no sidings.

Adorable villa with an easy, central location.

  • 4 of 5

My husband (a diver) has visited Bonaire many times, and he wanted to share his favorite island with me (a non-diver). But we wanted to experience this trip as locals, not tourists. We picked this villa for its rustic European charm and for its neighborhood-ish location. It did not disappoint. First, this is a VERY friendly neighborhood. Everyone said Hi and they were very helpful when we needed directions or tips. And since this villa is removed from the city, the stars are wonderfully vibrant at night. We snuggled in the hammock a couple of times and just enjoyed them. If I had one suggestion, it would be this: to add a shower curtain. I caught the eye of the teenaged girl next door as I stepped out of the shower, and she looked a little awkward at "catching me." Lol. She only saw shoulders-up (I hope!), but still. There was a definite look on her face, like, "Um, lady. I can see you." :-)

Owner's Response: Dear Heather and Michael, Thank you for your review! We followed your suggestion and installed wooden shutters in the small window. Kind regards, Walter & Femke
