About the property

9 Bed, 3.5 Bath, Great Room With Fireplace And Bar On Beautiful Nicaboyne Lake

We will begin booking SUMMER 2018 one year from the date of inquiry, in order to allow our returning guests the opportunity to keep their standing date from year to year. If they do not, we will open the week up to another guest. We book Saturday - Saturday in the summer months. Thank you for your understanding and for your interest in our lodge!

Formerly a resort lodge built in 1958, Walker's Lodge has been updated and remodeled and is the ideal year-round vacation home for families and groups to make memories. And we've recently been the location in the making of a film (but we're not allowed to release details yet)!

The air-conditioned lodge sits on 290 acre Nicaboyne Lake, which is a fun, fully recreational lake between 10am-5pm. The area feels more peaceful than some of the other lakes in the area as the east side of the lake is undeveloped. When you look out to the lake from the lodge and beach it somewhat resembles the boundary waters. The lodge is set back from neighboring cabins, which were originally part of the resort, and is nestled in the woods, offering privacy. Its expansive front lawn is perfect for yard games like softball, kickball, tug of war, etc. The yard also has a shuffleboard and a horseshoe pit. Kids love the large play set, too!

The great room of the lodge has a lovely stone fireplace, large bar (which was originally the check-in desk), and a piano. The dining room offers seating for 30 and is full of large windows and light. As the resort was a fully functional restaurant at one point, it also has a commercial kitchen perfect for making meals together. Right off of the kitchen is the former lodge owner’s private quarters, which has an additional living room, full bathroom, and two bedrooms. It also has a separate entrance with an amazing screened-in porch, paver patio, Weber grill, and fire pit.

Right off of the great room and facing the woods is a second screened-in porch, where many love to read and relax during rain showers. The porch has a daybed with trundle for those who want to sleep closer to nature.

Up the stairs from the great room are 5 lake-facing bedrooms, 4 with queen beds and 1 with a full-sized bed. On the other side of the hall, facing the woods are two bunk rooms (full over full bunks - can sleep 4 children each very comfortably - or 2 adults each). There are also 2 full baths on this side of the hall, marked as ladies and gentlemen. :) The total square footage of the property is close to 5000.

Rentals include the use of a canoe, paddleboat, and Weeres pontoon.

About Jennifer Peterson

Greetings from The Walker/ Peterson Family! Growing up on Lake Erie, the water and all the activities it offers have been an important staple in our lives. When we moved to the Twin Cities, we knew that a cabin would be in our future. After purchasing Peterson's Playground with Mike's brother, (on Des Moines Lake), we have simply fallen in love with this area and are thrilled to share our dream with you!

Jennifer Peterson purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Jennifer Peterson chose Northwest

From the moment we walked into the lodge for the first time, we felt at home. Its rustic charm and large living areas drew us in, and we could just envision having our friends and family here. It's been fun discovering bits of lodge history (formerly known as Sugg's Resort) as we talk with neighbors and we would love to go back in time to enjoy it in its prime!

A great place to get the whole family together

  • 4 of 5

After our first stay at Walker's Lodge, we hope to return again next year! The lodge very comfortably accommodated twenty members of our family (fifteen adults and five kids), and we had a blast swimming, boating, eating together, and sitting around the fire pit at night. The Petersons provide amazing amenities (among them a boat and other water equipment and toys), and there are many touches at the lodge that illustrate their warm sense of hospitality. The drawbacks are minor in comparison: the vintage furniture isn't always comfortable, and the old stove is difficult to use safely.

Great cabin for family fun!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 12 adults, 4 toddlers, and 2 infants really enjoyed our stay at the lodge in June. The large living room was great for indoor play with the kids, and having all of the toys there was incredible. We loved being able to dine together as a full family either in the dining room or the patio. And the beach, with all the various boat options, made for great days enjoying the summer sun. We look forward to returning next year!

Amazing lodge for a large group

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the lodge. It is spacious, clean & comfortable. We appreciated the quiet lake and the use of a pontoon, 2 paddle boards, canoe & paddle boat. We even caught fish; mostly sunnies, but also bass & northern. The grand kids caught bass, sunnies & a turtle right from the dock. The very large screened porch was a hit as we could be outside in the eve without bugs. The pool table, games, toys, books & even a Big Bird costume totally entertained the kids on rainy days. The commercial grade kitchen made feeding a crew easy. 2 very large refrig & an extra large oven were awesome. It is well stocked with dishes, glassware, etc needed for a large group. Our only concern was the air conditioner upstairs wasn't very effective in cooling all the bedrooms. But they provided lots of fans & the temps cooled in the evenings so we were fine. Jennifer was easy to contact & checked with us to see if we needed anything. We are a family of parents, adult kids, & grand kids aged 1 to 11. Everyone had a great time at the lodge.

Great time at the time warp!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the lodge for our company yearly getaway. The lodge was truly amazing in the aspect that it is left nearly untouched from the 60's-70's era. The décor is perfect, the lodge was clean, and the amenities were very inviting. The lodge slept 20 adults comfortably, the kitchen allowed us to cook large meals for the group, and the big living room was perfect for group games. We will definitely be back to stay again!

Family Christmas Gift

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much Walker Lodge ! We had a great time on our stay ! This is our Christmas gift to our four children & their families. Instead of gifts we rent a cabin and spend quality family time together. We loved the 9 bedrooms, adults all got their own room, & the beds are very comfortable. As previously owning a bar & restaurant, we loved the gas stove & griddle. We can feed 20 fast with pancakes & french toast. :) We also have a handicapped granddaughter , so the flat access to the lake was much easier. So much room & big kitchen !

Thanks so much,

Glaser Family Christmas
