About Melissa Nemer
We are a family who both live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area. We love San Francisco for all that it has to offer; food, music, parks, and museums, to name a few. And more specifically, we are in love with Cole Valley. Cole Valley has a great 'neighborhood vibe'; boasting several great cafes, restaurants, coffee shops and brunch spots. We love spending weekends in Golden Gate Park, strolling down to Cole and Carl for brunch, or just hopping in a short car or bus ride to other SF neighborhoods (Cole Valley is centrally located in SF making it an ideal launching pad for exploring). We hope you enjoy the Tiger House and fall in love with Cole Valley just like we have!
Melissa Nemer purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Melissa Nemer chose Ashbury Heights
This house was originally owned by Carlo Marchiori, an artist now residing in Calistoga, California. During his time living in Cole Valley, he was inspired to paint both the outside of the house (Tiger) and several of the bedrooms in the upstairs unit. The 'Tiger House' has become a legend in San Francisco, with tour buses even driving by to view it. Currently, there are residents occupying the upstairs floor of the Tiger House, and the bottom will be used for short term rental (ie you!).
What makes this Apartment unique
We love living in the heart of this beautiful city. Being so close to so many beautiful sites to see, places to explore, and restaurants and bars to dine at is the reason we truly enjoy living where we do.

Great location, clean and roomy
Roomy and plenty of shared space, the open kitchen/dining/living area was great! Clean and nice furniture. Shower was awesome but hard to figure out how to work all the knobs - instructions on that as well as operating the gas oven would be helpful. The bathroom sink drained slowly so that may need to get fixed.
Easy spot with many options nearby
Quality home that has everything you need for a few days' stay. 3 blocks from Golden Gate Park, it really doesn't need much else. Great spot!
The place is awesome, great host :).

Perfect location. Loved cole valley. House very comfortable well equipped and clean.
a few niggles....parking is for 2 hours only between 8am and 5pm
the 2nd and third bedrooms have sliding doors connecting them which didnt shut properly (6 inch gap!)
the heating needed new batteries (we put aome of ours in for our stay but needed them on leaving) and the vents consist of one in the corridor and one in the smallest bedroom so the two big bedrooms were cold and the little one a sauna! not to much of an issue in summer but youd need extra heaters in winter for sure.
otherwise its a great location
kitchen has everything you need to cook a proper meal
good welcome pack
owner friendly and helpful.
dowmstairs neighbour did seem angry at is when we used the bins the morning we left not sure why....
Sleek, elegant accessibility---helpful manager!
Large, beautifully-remodeled early-20th-century flat---graceful spaces throughout, great view of Twin Peaks! Op-art minimalist, with a well-stocked kitchen, an elaborate TV system and a state-of-the-art shower. (I had a hard time leaving that fabulous Italian gas range! Honest! And my architect husband loved the crown molding/trim additions from Victorian times.)
Only three steps to the front door-- perfect for those with mobility issues. GREAT location--- we got take-out from restaurants within blocks around because of our elderly friend, and all of it was glorious. The N-Judah streetcar line was close-by, but nearly silent (what a change from the '60's!)
(There is, of course, lots of street-level city noise into the front bedroom---but my Dr. Leight earplugs took care of everything nicely. :) )
Note: two of the three beds are "full"-sized, with one queen.
I had to ask Melissa about the TV/cable system---and when we couldn't figure it out together, she contacted the owner's son! He was quite helpful, although some further written directions would save *everybody* time! :) (Thanks, Melissa, for all your other help!)
We never made it down into the backyard (it was COLD! You know, SF in the "summer". Remember to bring jackets!), but the garden/table looked very inviting.
As far as the former complaint about the heating system goes: There are now HEAVY down (extra) comforters in the two bedrooms without heat registers, and turning down the thermostat at night keeps the third bedroom from getting too hot. Otherwise, the heat is very responsive, and it was fun standing by the vintage forced-air grate in the hall in the morning, just as I did when I was young. :)
All in all, a special "city" experience---we weren't down on the farm anymore!
San Francisco's Cole Valley is tucked away at the south-eastern end of Golden Gate Park in the geographical center of the City. It is a neighborhood that defines charm. Shady, tree lined streets and well maintained homes offer up a quiet slice of San Francisco life. The intersection of Cole and Carl Streets marks the business center where locally owned bakeries, cafes and restaurants are a culinary delight. Residents enjoy easy access to Golden Gate Park while a short trip on the N-Judah can drop them at Ocean Beach or Downtown. A steep walk from the center of the neighborhood is Tank Hill, where near 360 degree views of the cityscape are guaranteed to please.
