Relaxing and Lovely Property on the Ocean, with Both Ocean & Garden Views

LakiNalu is Hawaiian for Lucky Wave, and we know you will feel all the good fortune of Hawaii wash over you as you enjoy playing in our ocean waves! The condo includes a large 110 sq ft covered lanai which expands the living space. A great ocean view, oceanfront location that keeps all the traditional Hawaiian Charm and feel in a low rise, low density resort atmosphere. We have lush plantings and gardens, cool trade winds, and sounds of the ocean inviting you to leave your stress behind and keep you at peace for your stay with us. We have an observation deck for sunset viewing, a BBQ, lounge chairs oceanside, and dual staircases leading to the ocean and garden area, and parking.

Lakinalu is well appointed with above average style, that give you a real presence of an island home. The atmosphere goes beyond the norm in detail.

The location at Maui Sands can't be beat. We are in Honokawai, between Ka'anapali and Kapalua, close to everything. Directly across the street is The Fish Market Deli, The Okazuya Takeout (famous for teryaki steak and lemon caper mahi mahi), as well as our favorite fish tacos from Ohana Tacos, where every sauce and salsa is made fresh! Within a short walk north you will also find a fishing store to rent or purchase fishing gear, two spa locations, Bad Ass coffee for your morning java, and The Farmers Market Health Food, which holds a produce market in their parking lot 3 times a week for fresh organic local produce. About a 1/4 mi. south is Times Grocery, Java Jazz Cafe, souvenir shopping and scuba/snorkeling/bike rentals. A little further south and across the street from Times is the Honokawai Beach Park with one of the nicest beach walks along one of Maui's most beautiful beaches.The Whalers Village shopping center is about 3 miles south in Ka'anapali. Lahaina Town is about a 15minute drive south with tons of shopping and restaurants for any taste and time of day.

About Tony-Gerard Federico

I have lived in Hawaii as a school director for 10 years, and have returned for visits to friends on Maui and Ohau. I loved living in Hawaii and made many friends from many different cultures. I currently spend most of my time in my Vermont home near Lake Champlain, when not traveling for work. Vermont is a beautiful place with people who love the land and take time to connect through kindness for others. In a real way for me this is also what Hawaii offers when you take it a little slower and make time to see the beauty of the islands and it's people. Lakinalu also offers me a great place to do my writing, with lots to keep me inspired. I wish to share this wonderful opportunity with you.

Why Tony-Gerard Federico chose Lahaina

Lakinalu represents to me the old Hawaii with it's low lining buildings off the shore. It is a quietier place than a large resort and offers some special private moments. The views of Molakai are really romantic no matter what age, and especially at sunset. You can snorkel in front of the property or just take a nice dip in the large tidal pools.

What makes this condo unique

Lakinalu is remodeled to share some real polynesian furnishings, to include a Samoan wedding garment given to me by a Samoan chief. The weaved baskets were also given to me during my visits of the various island in Polynesia. Lakinalu is well furnished with all you need to feel at home if you stay for only a few days or a few weeks. The location also offers you the ability to walk to shopping and dinning out. The lanai is big enough to hang out or use for dinning while you listen to the sound of the ocean.

Please note that there is no washer or dryer in this unit or on site. The Hospitality website will provide information on area laundramats available.

The front door has a security screen installed making it easy to open the front door to allow the breezes to flow through. This unit is situated perfectly to swim, snorkel, paddle board & kayak right off the shoreline! There are 3 volcanic reefs parallel to our shore. During low to mid-tide, the inner area, amid the seawall & the 1st reef is a well protected area. Between the 1st & 2nd reef is a natural channel we refer to as 'the tub', only 4-7' deep, the reefs protect this area from ocean swell and is great snorkeling along some of the healthiest reef on the west side of Maui! We see turtles daily, as well as tons of fish, Eagle rays, sea birds and the occasional Monk seal. From December through mid April this is a great location for whale watching. Past the 2nd reef and among the lava labyrinth of the 3rd is the best area to observe a large variety of sea life while snorkeling!

Quiet, Ideally Located, Comfortable.

My fiancee and I planned this trip only a couple weeks before the holidays and we were shocked to get such a great place for such a reasonable price. Tony was very easy to communicate with and he had awesome ideas for places to go and explore. The condo is very comfortable, with an ocean view and a very short walk from coffee, a fish market, ABC store, beach parks, and a farmers market. It is also a very short drive to Whaler's Village, as well as Napili and Kapalua. There is a grassy area on the water with lounge chairs and a BBQ, which is ideal to catch an evening cocktail and a beautiful sunset. We will definitely be staying here again!

All that was promised, and more.

My wife and I have literally just returned from a delightful week in Maui and in this place. We loved the location and the place was exactly as promised (which isn't always the case with vacation spots). The condo was spotless, well-equipped (above and beyond, really) and comfortable. The sound of the waves lulled us to sleep at night and soothed us after a long day of snorkeling and enjoying the island. Would have loved a direct view of the ocean and beach, but this was a nice affordable compromise. Tony calling us on the first full day was a nice bonus and he helped us find a great local beach to get started in our snorkeling for the week. He was unusually attentive and responsive throughout. All in all a great experience!

Great property!

My first suggestion when you come in as to fly into Kapalua and not the other main Airport. We did so completely accidentally and realized that the airport was only 6 minutes by Uber from where we were staying. It was so easy! There are fantastic shops right across the street and the big grocery store is actually walking distance if you take a good bag or three for groceries. The condo literally had everything we needed and the description was completely accurate. Tony even called few days in to make sure everything was going okay which was unexpected and very nice. It was a wonderful trip. We saw the resident sea turtle a few times and I enjoyed some snorkeling just on the other side of the reef. It was less colorful than some of the better snorkeling down the way but just fine for a little bit of time in the water. The Java Jazz bar is great!

Very happy with our maui sands experience. Fish market accross street serves amazing seafood. Great selection of beaches near by. Full kitchen and a comfortable bed with all the amenities you could need made this our favorite place on maui.

Beautiful stay in Lahaina

Where to start... first of all the location was awesome, so close to the water with two reefs and some of the best snorkeling right there. The apartment is fully stocked with everything you will need (walking towards the parking lot and seeing the toads, snails and newts was a lot of fun for me). The best supermarket is just down the street and lots of coffee shops and places to eat. I could have stayed there for a month but alas, reality calls. Tony was very gracious and flexible with our needs, Thank you Tony.

Honokawai is located on the Northwest shore of Maui, with views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai across the channel. Maui Sands epitomizes old school Hawaii ambiance. This is a low density property, with beautiful grounds, including mango and banana trees. We are a very easy short walk from some lovely beaches and Honokawai Beach Park. There are many good local restaurants, a large grocery store, two farmers markets, a health food store, a coffee shop and some great spa facilities, all within a 3-5 minute walk. One of the favorite things about this location is the Farmers Market that is a short walk away across from the Honokawai Beach Park. They hold a special outdoor produce market on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but they offer fresh organic produce and a deli from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. The Farmers Market offers wonderful healthy acai bowls, juices and smoothies.

A short drive south to Whalers Village, and further on to Lahaina brings you to great Front Street shopping and historic sights. The Historic town of Lahaina has something for everyone, From Warren and Annabelles Magic Show (some of the best close hand magic we've ever seen) to shopping and the Award Winning Ulalena show at the Maui Myth and Magic Theater, you will have no problem finding great entertainment.

The Wharf in Lahaina has it's share of wonderful excursions to choose from as well. We particularly like Trilogy for a day trip to the Island of Lanai. There are many sunset cruises to choose from, fishing, sailing, and whale watching trips to fit most budgets.

North towards Kapalua there are 3 more championship golf courses, as well as fabulous beach walks and mountainside hiking! Nothing like a sunset view from the side of a volcano!

We are within minutes of some terrific restaurants and a short drive from many many more. Ocean gear such as fishing equipment, snorkel gear, and kayaks can be rented within walking distance. There is a bicycle and scooter rental across the street.
