I am a retired school teacher who taught high school mathematics at a local high school for 30 years. My wife is a retired Executive Assistant. We have lived in Solana Beach for 28 years but are presently splitting our time between Northern California where our eldest son and grandson live and Southern California where our youngest son lives. We both grew up in Los Angeles suburbs so really appreciate the calmer lifestyle Solana Beach offers. We love this City, its wonderful weather and its great community spirit.
Bill Koffler & Dagan Koffler purchased this house in 1992
Perfect for family gatherings, corporate retreats, girls spa getaway, golf vacation, etc.
Solana Beach is a serene, sedate, quiet beach community but has all the amenities of a big city within a 5 mile radius. There are numerous outdoor activities as well as wonderful restaurants. Very kid friendly and adult friendly.
I can't say enough about this lovely house and garden. We were a family of three couples and one toddler, celebrating a special wedding anniversary. The house was roomy and was equipped with everything you could wish for. Our grandson loved playing on the lawn in the well-fenced-in yard, and under the avocado trees.
The pool and jacuzzi are beautiful, but we didn't use them because the weather in early March was too cool. The pool isn't fenced, so we had to keep a vigilant eye on grandson as he can't swim yet. He also loved seeing Charlie, the resident desert tortoise, who came out of his burrow when it was warm enough.
We all felt really at home and very comfortable--the house is filled with light, beautiful artwork, and lots of books. One feature we all adored was the indoor garden and tree inside the front entryway. The master bedroom and bathroom are huge. There are several fireplaces, which we also didn't use because of the active toddler, but they do look inviting.
Bill left detailed instructions about the house and was very helpful answering our texted questions about the house, the Solana Beach area, and restaurants.
We enjoyed riding the Coaster into San Diego--the station is not far from the house. You could walk it, but we elected to drive the few minutes there.
It was very hard to leave this lovely house and come back to gray, chilly New York. We can't wait to come back!
My family of 6 adults and two young children stayed in this fabulous house in August for a week. The home has 5 comfortable bedrooms, 2 living rooms, two dining areas and 4 baths. You walk into the entry amidst two graceful ficus trees and an open staircase, giving it a light and airy feel. The home is very well equipped with everything one could possibly ask for -- down to the coffee grinder and the Cuisinart in the kitchen, the pool toys, bikes, board games and books as well as a basketball hoop. The pool is huge and lovely -- our grandkids had hours of fun in it every day and the jacuzzi was enjoyed by all. Bill and Dagan go out of their way to make sure you've got everything for a comfortable stay. Knowing that we had a 2 ½ year old, they took out the pack 'n play, the high chair and provided a small floating toy for him to sit in in the pool. A real highlight was Charlie the Desert Tortoise, who made his appearance each day for the kids to feed happily with corn on the cob, provided by the Kofflers. Their outdoor vegetable garden still had some delicious tomatoes to enjoy, herbs and several apple trees.
There is a nice downstairs patio as well as balconies off each bedroom and a 3rd floor deck from which you can see the beach and watch the sunset.
The home is also located very close to several amusement parks -- 20 minutes to Legoland and Sea World and 25 minutes to the San Diego Zoo. This enabled us to get to the parks early and get back to the house with lots of time to play in the pool or go to the beach, about a 5-minute ride.
We enjoyed one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had and are looking forward to returning again next summer.
Received damage deposit refund; thank you.
This beautiful home was an ideal setting for our three generations family vacation. From the time we set foot inside, we knew we were going to love this spacious, bright, and airy residence. The grandchildren, ages 4, 6, and 12, enjoyed hours of fun in the pool (as did the adults), as well as frolicking and playing games on the large, grassy yard and patio. The accomodations were perfect. We would certainly vacation here again.
My family, consisting of me and my husband and our two young boys, my sister and niece, and 3 grandparents, stayed in this wonderful home for a week in June. The house was spacious and beautiful and had almost everything we were looking for in a vacation home. Really, the only thing missing (and I truly mean the only thing) that we would have liked to have is a fire pit. (The kids were asking about making s'mores all week!) But the fabulous pool, spa, basketball hoop and large grassy yard surely made up for it. We were in the pool every day, and went to a great beach and playground as well, that was only a 3 minute drive from the house. They also have a great garden and we really enjoyed sampling the tomatoes, plums and raspberries. An added bonus is the fact they an adorable desert tortoise lives in the garden and make an appearance every day we were there. My kids adored him and had so much fun feeding him corn on the cob (with the owner's permission of course). Overall this home was really wonderful. The kitchen was perfect, the bedrooms spacious and enough bathrooms for all of us. The ocean view from the rooftop deck was a nice bonus as well. We truly appreciate the Koffler family opening up their home to us. They had everything we needed for a fantastic stay. We had a wonderful vacation and hope to be able to stay there again!
My family stayed at this beautiful home for 7 days to attend a family wedding and spend time in Southern California. The home was spectacular and so well taken care of featuring top of the line appliances. Each bedroom was well laid out as were all the main living areas. The pool and outdoor areas were beautiful and we truly enjoyed the wonderful vegetable garden (the tomatoes were yummy)!!! The entire property was so inviting and perfectly accommodated our 10 guests as well as a larger family gathering of 25 for dinner!! In addition to the specific property, we loved Solana Beach. The property is very close to the Fletcher's Cove (the beach) which my children loved. It is also close to Del Mar and Encinitas, both incredible areas. We loved everything about it and would definitely return to the area and this property.
For the past eight years I've planned a group getaway in a different city for 8 to 10 of my longtime women friends. This VRBO house was BY FAR my favorite of all the ones we've stayed in. It's spacious, comfortable, and has every amenity you could possibly want in a vacation home -- looks exactly as pictured (or better) in person as it does in the photos. We did everything from cooking a big group meal in the well-equipped kitchen to enjoying time in the hot tub to having sunset drinks up on the roof deck, which has an ocean view. It's located and walking distance from the wonderful shops and restaurants on Cedros Ave. as well as the Amtrak station (many guests took the train directly from the airport and walked to the house when they arrived -- unheard of in SoCal). The owners gave us helpful sightseeing tips as well. I would love to stay here again if I'm ever down there with a big enough group. Thank you, Bill and Roberta!
Short walk to Cedros Design District, Solana Beach Train Station, Del Mar Racetrack, beautiful Pacific beaches for leisure or world class surfing. World class San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park about a 30 minute drive. Famous LEGOLAND about a 15-20 minute drive. Balboa Park, about a 20 minute drive, contains various museums and playhouses. Solana Beach is home to their very own playhouse, North Coast Repertory, just 5 minutes up the street. Children's playground located at entrance to beach at Fletcher Cove as well as San Dieguito Park at eastern end of City. Many other parks sprinkled throughout the area.
