About Wendy Strine

Arthur purchased the original family farm from his grandparents estate in the spring of 1976. In the fall of that same year he and Wendy were married and in late 1977 started their own family in the same house where his mother as well as her siblings were born and raised.

Over the years several neighboring farms were purchased and now with a total of 168 acres there is plenty of room to work, play, hike, and hunt.

After 38 years we live just 1.5 miles up the road from the Home Stead House. Our family of six has grown to 15, some live near by, others live farther away, but they all love to come home for the Grape and Apple Harvest as well as the Christmas Holiday, when we celebrate the Lord's blessings to us.

Wendy Strine purchased this farmhouse in 1976

Why Wendy Strine chose Chautauqua-Allegheny

We love this house and piece of property. It's beautiful, quiet, has a breathtaking view of Lake Erie (and Canada on a clear day) and is nestled among giant Maples and acres of Concord Grapes. We would love to be able to share this with you.

This was our second stay at Arwen and it was great.

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for a few folks in town to do some smallmouth bass fishing on Lake Erie. The best part of each day was relaxing under the shade trees and enjoying the great view across the vineyards at Lake Erie. We are already planning a return trip.

Homestead house review -Ripley NY

Clean, quiet and peaceful. Firewood for pit and a grill provided. Within easy driving distance to everything we wanted to do. Beds were comfortable and towels were large and soft. A great place to unwind and reconnect with family and friends.

Country Setting with Beautiful Views!!

  • 5 of 5

The property description is spot on! The views of the vineyards and Lake Erie were spectacular! The house was comfortable and had everything you need and more. Everything worked as advertised and we had zero problems. Overall, we had an A+++ visit with no complaints. We also felt that Wendy was an excellent host! The morning after we arrived she checked in with us to see if everything was OK, if we had any questions, etc. It was very nice knowing she was just a phone call away! She was easy and pleasant to talk to and very hospitable! We saw and experienced a lot between Presque Isle and Niagara Falls, but there's more and we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Home Stead House again!! Last comment......BOOK IT!!

Beautiful and Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

What a great little house for a weekend away! The house is spacious and updated and most importantly, clean! The fire pit is a great addition and the barn is stocked with wood for you! Lots of room and a large kitchen make it the ideal place to get away from it all. The view is absolutely breathtaking too! Wendy is so nice, when we called about the AC, she came right down and was just so sweet. I would love to stay here again!

Quiet setting, beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

My siblings and I - they from Canada, and I from Ohio - chose this as a mid-way point to meet for a long weekend reunion. We wanted a quiet place to visit, and although at first we were hoping for something closer to the lake, this was definitely peaceful, as well as being close enough to the both Lake Erie and Chataqua Lake, and other activities nearby.

The house itself, nestled amongst vineyards, was well-supplied with everything we could need, both for cooking and sleeping. It also had a large, flat-screened TV, although we didn't use it for more than a late-night movie. Outside there was plenty of space for the Friday-evening cookout and Saturday night bonfire; all this with a birds-eye view over grape-vine covered hills, Lake Erie beyond, and the echo of a train in the distance. We had 2 younger children in the mix, and they had alot of fun, and we felt safe letting them have a little independence on the one-level floor plan.

The owners were very accessible and helpful, both during the planning, and once we were there. If they didn't answer immediately they called or messaged right back. I would definitely make a return visit.

Beautiful vineyard farm house

  • 4 of 5

The house itself was very beautiful. All 5 of us ladies loved staying here! Our nicest girls weekend yet! The only thing we could find to complain about was the instructions on what the owners wishes were for house keeping. It would be nice to have everything on one central list instead of spread all over the house. Example; what to do with dirty towels/blankets, what to do with trash when you are leaving, the dish washer rules (not leaving dishes in washer), ect. We had no problem following any of the rules, it was just confusing and hard to go back and reference. Overall, it was a fantastic stay.

Owner's Response: So glad you girls enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return in the future. . I'm sorry that you found our instructions confusing, all of the sheets are the same and double sided, one side contains the information most requested by our guests and the other is emergency contact information. We have a sheet in most of the rooms so they are readily accessible primarily in case of an emergency.
