This two story carriage house has an open floor plan downstairs with a living room, dining area and full kitchen. Upstairs there are two queen bedrooms and one full bath (tub/shower). For your convenience there is also a washer and dryer. Parking is free in the owner's driveway. You can walk to everything from this location; shops and restaurants are just 2 blocks away, the old Slave Market is 2 blocks away, and a large Harris Teeter Grocery store, which is open 24/7, is about 2 blocks away. As a private home bed and breakfast it is exempt from sales tax, but does have an accommodation tax. The owners stock the kitchen with breakfast items so your breakfast is self-served. You can enjoy your coffee or tea really early or later if you wish!

A sweet place and great location!

I stayed in this sweet little carriage house with my two daughters, a son-in-law and 17-month old grand daughter for a weekend wedding date. The location can't be beat. You can walk everywhere. The carriage house is located behind the main house with a small court yard. It was cool that weekend and the owners had turned on the gas fireplace for us. When we walked in, it was so homey and cozy. We met the owners on one occasion and they couldn't be nicer. The kitchen was well-stocked including goodies for breakfast and coffee. Bedrooms are upstairs and both had plenty of room. One was larger so my daughter set up the baby's Pack'n'Play in there and they still had room to move around. There were plenty of blankets and towels. There was even a washer and dryer in an upstairs closet. And, it was so easy. We booked and paid online. We showed up and went in, with keys on a table beside the door. They offer off-street parking. The pictures and description are accurate. It would be hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay in Charleston!!

Great location, cute place

We were here over the New Year's weekend for 3 nights and loved it. The location is great- everything in Historic Charleston is walking distance we only had to move the car to go outside of the main downtown area. The house was the perfect size for two couples, and the owners even provided a casserole and english muffins for breakfast one morning and cranberry muffins the next, with OJ and milk both days. It also has a coffee maker and supplies (though no regular sugar, just sweet & low and splenda). We didn't do any cooking so I can't speak to how well-stocked the kitchen is, but there were plenty of plates, glasses, and silverware.

The only complaints we have (and they're minor) are- we specifically were looking for a place with off-street parking for 2 cars. We were told we could park in the owner's driveway, however it turns out there were some repairs being done to the outside of the main house so there was scaffolding blocking the driveway. They didn't know about this at the time of booking so nothing could have been done, but we didn't find out until just before showing up. No partial refund was offered as some in our group felt we should get. They did however have parking permits and there was plenty of street parking right in front of the house, so it wasn't a problem in the end.

The downstairs of the house is not well insulated so it was a little chilly. The upstairs was plenty warm. There is a fireplace downstairs that helped- it doesn't feel like it puts out much heat but it helped to take the edge off the chill and make it more comfortable. We did often use the couch blanket while sitting around though.

Also, be sure to pay attention to how much/when you pay. I had been told that we'd pay a 2 night deposit up front and then pay for the 3rd night via check when we arrived, however my card was charged for the 3rd night (which was fine by me) so I didn't leave a check. The owner didn't seem to be aware of this though because after I left he called to verify that he wasn't just overlooking the check and said they'd just charge the card. I verified with HCBB that I was paid in full so did not end up being charged twice- but had I not been aware of the day before arrival charge, I probably would have left a check.

Linens were fine, shower drained fine, and I didn't notice any stains. As one reviewer said, it's not a luxury hotel however it has character. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone else looking.

You really couldn't ask for a better location for enjoying the many shops/restaurants/historic homes in Charleston. We do apologize about your mix up with payment but we can assure you that very detailed records are kept to make sure NO ONE is ever charged twice for their stay. VRBO made several changes last year that caused quite a mix up with a lot of home owners as well as property managers but the confusion was on their end, not ours, we can assure you.

Charming home in perfect location!

Thank you to both the owners and property manager, T'lene Brown, for accommodating my family of 4 during another wonderful stay in Charleston. This beautifully restored carriage house was perfect for us. A quick walk to EVERYTHING wonderful in Charleston..we especially loved strolling to the new hotel, The Bohemian, to grab coffee each morning as a treat (although the home does have a coffee maker and fully stocked kitchen). Thank you also to the owners for the special touches you lent during our stay, including, a warm welcome surprise upon arrival:)

We will definitely return!

Great Location

We found this to be a charming accommodation located in historic Charleston--we were able to easily walk to many attractions/restaurants. If you want glitzy, stay in a hotel. This restored carriage house met our needs. Plumbing worked fine. Linens were fine. Owners were welcoming and provided breakfast items. Lots of antiques and personal touches. Beautiful little garden outside.

disappointed in this rental

We were disappointed in this rental. It was more much more dated than we expected it to be and the only bathroom shower drains so slowly while you are taking a shower that you are in standing water the whole time. There was no plunger and when we called the owner to tell them about the problem he said his son would come out the next day. No one came and no one followed up with us so we had to continue to take showers in standing water. For the price you pay you do expect good running facilities and updated linens and towels. This is not the case with this rental. Be aware. The bedding, towels and floor rug in the bathroom are extremely old. The carpeting on the upper floor is also very old and very stained. This rental is in need of some refreshing for the price they charge. There were also no coffee filters so we had to go purchase those to make coffee in the morning. We would not select this rental again on future vacations in Charleston.
